How many formats allow you to essentially take a turn off after wrathing?
im pretty sure this card will be in the maindeck of 8rack as a 1 or 2 of in modern or at least in the sideboard, they only need one open mana to annoyingly cast raven's crime turns after turns.
my friend runs this deck as his main deck and he seemed pretty happy about it, i told him it could be good but what if i cast a reality smasher the turn right after you wiped my board? he said what if you cast it and i have 4 mana open and a mutavault? take 3 damage instead of 5 but i eat more damage thanks to your other creatures. he said if he manage to reach 4 mana, he still could fatal push other creatures if he really needs to survive, and lets be honest, beside reality smasher, there isnt that much creatures with haste roaming around in modern so the ''no untap'' close doesnt affects him that much. besides goblin guide and monastery swiftspear what else is played with haste?i guess through the breach counts but he should have made you discard that card by than...
with ravens crime and his high land count, its the perfect match for his deck since he doesnt need much open mana for his 1-2 mana spell and a wrath for 3 is crazy good when facing any creature heavy deck like almost every deck in modern right now.
Hi guys. Been lurking around this thread for a bit. I have an Eldrazi Tron deck 80% built and I'm trying to work out some kinks before hitting up the SCG Open in June.
I saw a decklist here about an online player that sideboards two Hangarback Walkers. Has anyone personally had success with walkers now that balista is a thing? Also, someone pointed out Nephalia Academy for semi-protection against discard and Filigree Familiar for that life gain boost and card draw. Has anyone experimented with either of these?
I've only played modern a handful of times, but this is the deck I want to play with. Here's my decklist on tapped out - link. It's not perfect by any means, but it's a start. Any feedback or rebuilds are welcome. And yes, I really want to keep that Sundering Titan in the side.
i never thought about nephalia academy but i sure as hell will use it since my meta is full of 8rack i will use it as my 24th land and let you guys know how its doing, ive been running gemstone caverns but never got it on the draw so far...
how do you guys deal with the mirror? i was 2-0 yesterday and got against ET on 3rd round, i mean what do you side in against or what is the game plan?
i was really unlucky because he got natural tron both games and even when i GQ his land it was just to late for me to do anything. i was also mana screwed game one, i mulled to 5 and got a 2 lander without temple and didnt drew any so....yeah
game 2 i kept a 3 lander with a GQ but it didnt help at all, he had a map and drew natural tron again...yeah gg
my list is the same as on page 33 but i got a second all is dust instead of the ratchet bomb main and put the ratchet bomb in the side instead of oblivion sower he could have helped me but at the same time no since i was mana screwed...
anyway here is my sideboard, what would you change?
Delirium - If there are four or more card types in your graveyard, exile that creature instead.
idk if it would see play since dispatch doestn see much play but i guess your card would be in a less aggressive deck, i mean affinity doestn really care what its up against.

Any additional feedback on beating burn (in my case, Naya burn, with Nacatl, Boros Charm, 4xsearing blood, and Atarkas command main) would be appreciated. I'm on GB, pretty standard Shaman list with a painless manabase (Gilt leaf, Blooming marsh, cavern). Game 1 on the play is doable, still feel unfavorable though, like 40-60 them. Sideboarding for me is: Out: 3 Leads, 3 Visionary (seem too slow for game 2/3 on the draw). In: 3x Chord, 2x Kitchen Finks, 1x Spellskite.
I've dabbled with thoughtseize, but it generally feels bad with the 2 life loss associated with it. IoK likely better for burn but not as good against other matchups.
Dabbled with Thragtusk, but on the draw sticking enough creatures to Chord for it or cast it is tough, and if it sticks 5 life isn't a game ending bomb.
Scavenging Ooze can be helpful if it lives, but not a "bomb".
Feed the clan with a 4 power creature seems like a game ending swing, but getting that 4 power creature for us can be tricky when they're popping our creatures and lords, and 5 life without the 4 power isn't a bomb.
Considering trying Essence Warden but I'm not sure that incremental life gain is enough to do it? Any feedback from people who've tried it? What do you side out for 4xWarden, or do you main them?
Anything I'm missing that GB sideboard offers? Pointers?
i used to run almost the same list as you, its been a while since i touch my elf deck but i remember when my friend was on burn and and we were always meeting in the fnm finals and i lost most of the time.
i usually played essence warden against him but he was just killing it before i could get some lifegain.
So i came here and asked for help to beat his deck and mtgs found vampiric link
it was really good against him because i used it on his eidolon of the great revel and all of a sudden his eidolon only affected him, i remember the first time i did this he thought i gave him lifelink, he didnt realised he had to kill his own creature while i was pooping out elves after elves and was delt no damage whatsoever. i went in for the kill after he killed his own creature dealing 2 to his face.
might not be good enough for tournament level but the card is great for an fnm and such

i had trouble with this too, when you create a deck you need to put numbers before the card name or it wont work. you dont have to use the card tag, here is an exemple with no number before matter reshaper
i also tried conduit of ruins and didnt like it, id rather play a second all is dust or a second batterskull.
each time i used him he felt like a win more card and i took it out, maybe it will work bether for you, keep us updated on your tourney
With Ixalan being the fall 2017 set, Rivals of Ixalan (RIX, I'm guessing) will be the January 2018 release. With 2018 being the year of Magic's 25th anniversary, perhaps the Ixalan block becomes the first three set block in a return to the "One three-set-block a year" format that was tried and true for so long, and "Magic 25" is a return to Core Sets in the summer. It's no secret that the unpopularity of Standard has coincided with the change to the "Two Two-set blocks per year" paradigm that was introduced a couple years ago. Perhaps WotC has realized this and is reverting back to what made Standard extremely popular, especially from Zendikar through RTR-Innistrad seasons.
i hope you are right, i miss core set so much! with only 2 blocks i feel like they dont really have enough time to push a mechanic to its fulllest potential.
i would have loved a third set with delirium so they could have made a wannabe tarmogoyf, okay grim flayer is close enough but still, i would have love to see some more revolt, escalate, emerge, 3 merge cards? common and at least one pushed surge card.
i feel like all those mechanics mentioned above were wasted because of the lack of a third set to expand those abilities on other cards. i guess we might see them in a return set but i dont hold my breath on that....
like others have said i use it mainly for tron and valakut and i would say dredge but there isnt any in my meta and the more annoying of them all, 8rack
targeting Raven's Crime usually makes it harder for them to keep us from droping threats and since my meta is filled with 8 rack i found it very usefull in this match up. also against 8rack i like to get sea gate wreckage as early as possible because i know tey have a hard time keeping up with my extra draws if they cant Raven's Crime my face!
i would use 2 in the side but i only own 1 and the price is ridiculous at the moment...
i love your approach pertz, im waiting for my gideon to get here and i will brew something like your deck, so far im thinking to switch brimaz for heart of kiran and since i dont own bitterblossom ill just use fatal push or some more slaughter pact

ratchet bomb is great against boggle thats for sure and since we cant use Engineered Explosives as efficiently as titanshift i decided to main one bomb but it wasnt great yesterday in the main and when i got it in hand, i either didnt play it or it was too slow to do something so i really need at least another all is dust
i chose to put 2 batterskull instead of a 1/1 split with basilisk collar like most list do because i dont like the fact that collar can be a dead card if you have chalice of the void on 1. map and chalice being sometimes dead card annoys me so thats the main reason i choose to use 2 B-skull.
if i would own a karn i would use it and put ulamog in the side though.
i will try to get 2 other all is dust for sure, the card is just too powerfull.
i didnt even think about a 4th ghost quarter, youre probably right i should try that instead of those 2 fancy lands or a manland.
as for the spellskites, there is 2 guy that are playing boggles at my lgs and i dont know about eldrazi tron but with my titanshift i always had a hard time against them (anger of the gods and beast within being my only removal i really needed them to stand a chance) thats why i put spellskite in there and since i dont really have removal besides dust, ugin and ulamog i thought they would be great.
i played one in the whole night yesterday and he did save a smasher once so thats that....idk what i would use in its slot maybe a 3rd dismember and leave the other 2 in the side? maybe a 3rd mind stone...i really dont know what to do but i hate boggle so much i might just leave it as is, ill have to play against boggle to see if i want to take them out of the 75.
so i picked up the deck because i was tired of always playing titanshift even though its great in my meta, i wanted to play something different. yesterdays was monday night magic and i went ''undefeated'' with a 3-0-1 records and like basedgod i won the last game but we splited the prize pool before we played it since we were the only 2 person with a 3-0 record.
first round 2-0 against knightfall, game one i all is dust after he cocoed and followed with 2 smasher. second was harder, i casted a ulamog that he got rid of and i followed with a ugin and since im new to the deck i -4 ugin to get rid of all his creatures the guy said ok and laugh at me, i didnt understand so next turn i played a ballista on 5 and asked him what was his life total he said 3. should have used ugin +2, fail!
second round 2-0 was versus a control ninjustu build, the guy always play clunky deck but he didnt stand a chance against my turn one cavenrs followed by multiple eldrazi. second game he countered a couple of my spells and than i stop brainfarting and realized why i won so easily the first game and went for my caverns with my second map lol. again newbie mistake, not able to counter my spagetthi he was doomed.
third round was way harder, 2-1 against americain nahiri control. he won the first game, i was stuck at 2 lands with a chalice on 1 and drew 2 map back to back and emrakul told me git gud! second game i went for the cavern with the map and casted chalice on 1 after getting my land, i got natural tron but didnt realize it until i played matter reshaper followed with a ballista and realized it was a 4/4 and not a 2/2, i followed the next turn with ulamoGG, third game i used all my resources, he played 3 nahiri total and crumble to dust my tower, the game was long enough for me to cast my 2 batterskull that he killed easily with wear-tear, i found all is dust, ulamog and ugin, each time putting a new nahiri into play was anoying and path to exile ulamog is painful, ugin did the job.
last round 2-1 against knightfall, first game he destroyed me with 2 spell queller and a big knight of the reliquary. second game i barely won, i was at 3 life and top deck all is dust just in time to kill his board and went in for the kill with smasher and seer. third game natural tron turn 3 followed by seer and reshaper, drew a smasher turn 4 and played it, turn 5 i got mind stone and sac it and drew ugin. i played ugin
the next turn and he pikced up his deck and said GG.
im in love with the deck and even if i make mistake after mistake the deck was good enough to survive my stupidity. i did learn alot from those matches and my next upgrade is to replace the ratchet bomb main with another all is dust and maybe ulamog with something else, karn liberated comes to mind but i dont have 80$ for him, i just bought a house so im broke i also want to switch my second sea gate wreckage for maybe another cavern or maybe thespian's stage or vesuva, thoughts?
i didnt got to play against the mirror match or bant eldrazi, do you think oblivion sower is as good as he was during eldrazi winter for the mirror match or should i replace it with something else in my side?
