i have always wanted to make my favorite kitchen table deck work in modern but the 4 mana cost of master transmuter is too high to be fast enough for modern.

the card is still worth alot even though its not played in modern, i believe EDH is the reason of its high price.

i tried everything from Lightning greaves to Thousand-year elixir and even with Etherium Sculptor its not fast enough

i wanted to try it with tron land but never got the time to do so and even there i believe it would be slower than with the greaves but i could actually cast the huge artifact i have in hand if the transmuter dies. i dont think its a bether approach since the greaves gives shroud

the deck is still a blast to play even though its not competitive.

@Tucker_Fleabane in regards to Prismatic omen, you must not have followed this deck for long. The Jund splash is very very new, only started gaining popularity in the last month and a half, but prismatic omen has been a debate for over a year. While I agree with you that it's not necessary, and I don't even find it necessary in the Jund build, Omen definitely doesn't see play exclusively for three color mana fixing.

Also, in regards to the DS matchup, I found it very difficult in RG, I could see it being a little better with mono green maindeck running 4 relic of progenitus, but I have found it to be pretty even if not favored for us in the Jund version. Fatal push and abrupt decay really are that good.

i have recenty been using 3 hornet nest in the sideboard just for that match up and the eldrazi decks, works like a charm and i dont want to take it out anymore,i even consider maining it (for my meta i mean not tournament)

On monday night magic at my LGS we usually are at least 10 players and 3 of them are on grixis DS and 2 of my friends are on 8rack, theres also alot of spaghetti player...

i was tired of never using my anti affinity and graveyard hate cards and made the switch for 3 hornet nest and 2 wilt-leaf liege and i went undefeated against 2 grixis DS and face my buddy in the finals, hes on 8rack and i tricked him with my 4 obstinate baloth and the 2 liege, he was out of himself and calling me names and i cant blame him because who sides that XD lol

the 3rd game was vs bant edrazi and i won game 2 because of my wasp and game3 because scapeshift Smile the guy just didnt want to attack me with my 2 nest in play, i anger of the gods just to see the despair in his face and it was priceless. game 3 i was faster and scapeshifted him.

I hope this set had a lot less focus on draft-ability, and more on getting much needed reprints out. Nothing like opening Seance, Call of the Heard, or Giant Solifuge to dampen your experience.

I think the issue is that drafts get more players engaged in the product. I would literally never have opened a single MM17 pack without draft. As it is, I did something like 6 live drafts opening almost a box. I then sold/traded most of the playable staples (because I have most of them already).

Now, you can argue that "the set isn't for me" and I'll accept that argument. But it seems that Wizards wants drafters to have investment into the masters set.

Edit: $10 seems like a lot for a set focused on "iconic" creatures, which except for a few outliers don't have any real big money nonsense. I mean, what is the most expensive, reprintable iconic creature? Archangel of Thune? This feels like it should have been $7. Nothing that isn't actively aiming to reprint competitive constructed staples can justify a 10 dollar price tag...

That said, if they really wanna focus on "powerful" draft environment, how about instead of a guaranteed foil, every set comes with TWO rares! that would be a neat twist and actually fit the theme.

iconic angel would be either serra angel or akroma, angel of wrath

and every color has iconic creatures and there is more than enouh to make a set, heres a few without even thinking about it birds of paradise lord of atlantis dark confidant shivan dragon nicol bolas karn, silver golem

edit: i love your 2 rare idea though

if its for kitchen table modern magic, your deck looks fun and id probably add experiment one

if you wanna be competitive like at least fnm level and want an ooze deck, the best thing i could think of that could have a chance of winning an fnm or at least a couple of game is mitotic slime with either grave pact or dictate of erebos

my friend had a deck like that when we didnt play competitive and it was annoying as hell

he played viscera seer and bloodthrone vampire as a sac outlet for mitotic slime when he had grave pact in play an made us sac all our creature by sacrificing his ooze and every token it generated and went in for the kill with his 21/21 bloodthrone vampire. my thrun, the last troll deck didnt stand a chance

the bad thing about his deck was that it was slow but the ''sacrifice all creature'' made up for it if he could land the ''combo''.

the other difficulties he encountered was the triple B mana on grave pact but you could play dictate to solve this problem

hope i helped or at least gave you an idea

    greetings, charles

Best card for a scapeshift or ad nauseam mirror match XD

Not sure about scapeshift, but for the ad nauseam, we already have pact of negation...

It does work with scapeshift, if your going lethal on me i cast this and my next turn i scapeshift your face gg

Its good against any combo deck if you can go off before you die

My point is, in any combo deck, you can use pact of negation doing the same thing as Glourious End.
This new card does not improve those combo decks, at least in Modern.

For Scapeshift, why not simply use Negate if you can access the blue mana?

im not saying it improves any combo deck.
im saying it improves the match up against combo deck as a sideboard card, you cast scapeshift to deal 36 damage in answer i end your turn so you will deal 0 and now its my turn to scapeshift your face or to try to do enough damage for you to die

i know pact and negate does the same thing but they are blue and scapeshift with primeval titan dont use blue mana so its a great card for us if we ever face another titanshift.

with add nauseam since they run angel's grace its funny as hell if you ask me.

Samut, Voice of Dissent is all i needed for my titanshift, i was gonna buy 2 through the breach and tey spoil her just in time for me not to make a 100$ mistake.

im so happy, primeval titan with haste is crazy good!

Don't hold your breath on the pre sale price of this card. I wouldn't be surprised to see it listing at 20 bucks a pop from the get go. Frown

But yes, its cheaper than TTB. Smile

i just preordered 2 from card kingdom for 18$ so im pretty happy about it because TTB is worth 50+ fo a piece

now i just wanna switch anger of the gods with the new cycle one because sometimes its just a dead card and the cycle ability is all anger needed to be relevant 100% of the time, losing the exile clause isnt that bad i think....hurts against kitchen finks and dredge but thats about it

Why is Samut, Voice of Dissent better than TTb? I thought titan shift wanted to set the win up as fast as possible, and TTB does that?

Also dredge is currently the second most played deck... Anger is still pretty good.

well with TTB you need to have the titan in hand or it doesnt do anything and is just a dead card, with samut you can cast her at the end of turn of your oponent and go all in with titan the next turn if you have it in hand just like TTB,if you dont have titan in hand samut is a 3/4 with vigilance and double strike and she gives haste to other creatures obstinate baloth comes to mind and TTB doesnt even come close of being as good if you use it on baloth.

i wanna test her out to see if shes good/fast enough for the deck but on paper a 3/4 double strike vigilance haste and a 6/6 trample haste that gets you 4 lands sounds crazy good. im one of the few who main a bolt path push proof card in stormbreath dragon and samut dodges bolt and push and path is the less relevent removal of the 3 because it gets us a land and i would have place for her in the deck so im excited to try her out.

for the dredge part i guess you are right but my meta has 0 dredge or loam pox player in it so i dont really care about the exile close but if id go to a major tourney id bring the anger over the sun cycle spell (sorry i forgot the name)

edit: in a perfect world where she stays on the field at the oponents end turn and your titan lands with haste we are talking about 12 damage without the 4 lands wich represent 12 damage too, 24 damage in one turn is lethal most of the times.

-Gideon of the Trials: One of the flashiest cards of the set that will do more in modern/eternal formats than in standard. His emblem can just hose specific strategies by itself, he is a 4/4 indestructible creature, and he can turn off damage from a permanent. There is a lot to like here but his 1WW casting cost does sting and there doesn't seem to be a deck that wants him right now. It's worth noting that he seems good in the As fortold deck that I talk about. He isn't insanely strong but his swiss army knife abilities are something to look out for.

i cant believe you puted him in ''might see play'' i mean did you already forgot about eldrazi winter and how emeria, the sky ruin and sun titan were doing great against them? hes a 4 of in the deck and i believe its all we needed to get this deck to rise to type 1 or at least type 2 with a little tweaking here and there.

gideon of the trials is the new best friend of sun titan im surprise nobody sees that....

he also looks really great in death and taxes, wanna kill my gideon? ill just flickerwisp it

besides maelstrom pulse and abrupt decay there isnt much removal that gets rid of him that are played right now.

the only non damage one i can think of is detention sphere and it doesnt really see much play.

Maybe they'll finally give Modern Miscalculation! It's a decent counterspell with Cycling, after all...

...for card evaluation, Renewed Faith looks spiffy as possibly maindeckable life gain on an instant.

knowing them they will reprint complicate since it doesnt cost 2 becayse wizards hates 2cmc counterspell, but i hope you are right

with the serpopard spoiled yesteray, i thought about counterspell alot and what could make it into modern without breaking it.

thoughts denial U U (i couldnt think of any great name)

counter target spell, if the spell is countered this way, exile thoughts denial.

snapcaster mage couldnt abuse it unless thoughts denial gets counter, he could than gave it flashback.

i believe this card would replace mana leak and wouldnt be too broken with the double U

what do you guys think? still too strong?
