how relevant is removing a single counter per turn? because extort definitely comes attached to much better cards than a 1/1 body...
He's just the cheapest form of extort dude. And you can have multiple Thrulls out, though that definitely comes at a life cost. I can't really think of anything better.
I'll goldfish from time to time sure, but more often than that I like Cockatrice. Such a wonderful program and a pretty good time when playing with friends.

Well, yes it is. But I find it hard to think the person made uncomfortable by erotic sleeves in a public place is the one at fault. I personally don't mind, but I think it would be rather rude to refuse to not use them. I'm probably just over thinking the whole thing.
Once upon a time the word demon was banned from being printed on new Magic cards because WotC wanted to placate a bunch of people who were offeneded by that word. These days we have new cards with the word demon on them and anyone who matters isn't offended.
I've discovered that it's better to be true to yourself than to worry about what offends others. In this game people will complain about anything: how you shuffle, how you hold your cards in your hand, how you track your life points, what you use for tokens/counters, where you place lands/non-lands on the table, how fast/slow you play, etc. This playmat/sleeve issue is just another thing to add to the potentially infinite pile.

Offense of course is purely subjective, but if you don't worry about offending others for your entire life than I can't see much room for being a very personable guy. It boils down to be courteous without being ridiculous.
I never said I hated this format. It can just be more than it is now. My post was meant as a comparison, not the end all, be all of truths about standard.
Gate Crash has added allot of new and interesting cards to the pool, and hopefully it will make decks much more diverse than they are now.
I do play both modern and legacy, and I enjoy them for different reasons than standard.
Boros Charm really does seem that good, but we'll see for sure after it's seen actual play. Cards like Sphinx's and Thragtusk are obviously very powerful. They can be difficult to beat but ultimately AREN'T unbeatable. That fact that decks exist that don't use them is proof. They're very good but nothing really needs to be done about them IMO. Geist is definitely a good card, but I don't think he's insane. Just remember he isn't unblockable.
In my honest opinion, it boils down to, "Someone doesn't like it.. Therefore, no one should do it for fear of offending them."
Honestly what I've discovered is that if someone is offended by or doesn't like something you do, it's probably within your best interest to abstain. Unnecessary conflicts are pretty dang lame to be honest, compromise is chill.
I'm not necessarily a fan of erotic art on sleeves or mats, but I don't think I'd ever be made especially uncomfortable unless it was straight up nudity. I've never heard of erotic Loli sleeves anywhere. That's messed up and shouldn't be tolerated if they do exist.
That's different than sleeves or lands with lolis on them. I'd love to have a set of Zendikar lands w/ Touhous or something like Gruul-tan on them. It's just cute to me and I like cute things.

Some of my favorite bands in the genres are Sunny Day Real Estate, On the Might Of Princes, Jimmy Eat World, Mineral, and The World Is A Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die.
I don't act like I know much when it comes to things like deck building and the like, so I generally don't act like I know anything about it.
When I was new to the game I would get trigger rules and the like wrong and when I was told I was wrong I'd just say "oh okay" and shrug it off. Then I would play correctly after that.
Dominaria would of course own, cool plane really. Outside of that I'd love to see another Lorwyn set. Kamigawa would be cool, the flavor of that set is really really sweet.

Thrull Parasite is awesome. Everything he can do he is pretty much an all-star at. Might not be the best card, but is a dang fine one.
Crypt Ghast seems undoubtedly weak. I'm not going to sink 4 into an extort creature.
He has Disciple of Bolas, but these two cards do seem a lot more efficient for the job.

Seriously. Thragtusk is a good card so he sees play, really all there is too it. The art is fine as well IMO.
I think Snappy's art is pretty cool. The monocle is a nice touch.
