    Quick Question.

I'm missing 3 NO before being able to play elves but was just wondering why chord of Calling isn't used?

Personally, I just like having Lands pieces in foreign languages because I never get tired of explaining what The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale does. Smile

I'm the other way, I'm going for an all english originals deck, though the price of black border duals is insane, they may need to be foreign at the end of the day, but the biggest issue i'm having is trying to find an English Tabernacle so i can trade away my italian one.

Not wanting to buy it but trade my italian one, some duals and fetches for it and can't find any takers locally (nation wide).

Yeah it was a small tourney and guys who couldn't make the 8 had dropped so i was his match up, it was a match when i loaned the deck to him i didn't want to play but as it turns out a mistake on his part G2 and a couple of sweet hands and i won.

That was the highlight, it was fun getting to play some proper legacy and seeing things to be aware of the next time i play and it is a fun deck to play even when losing, so will stick with it.

    Hi all

Played a smaller local tourney today, 5 rounds then cut to top 8, 1st time playing lands in a competitive environment, 1st 3 matches were pretty bad

Round One, some delver deck, i recurred my zuran orb to try stall only to then dredge it away 0 - 2

Round Two, High Tide, this was crazy, G1 token t4 only to have it bounced back to my hand after some high tide shenanigans, G2, brought in hate, saw it all early, thalia, dead, chalice set at 1 and sphere of resistance stuck, until he wished and returned all artifacts to my hand then combo'd off while proceeding to drop a hard cast emrakul in the middle of the combo, i didn't concede and made him see it out, he ended up just making me draw more than i had 0 - 2

Round Three, random artifact deck i hadn't seen before, G1 he mulled to 4, i intuitioned into my pieces for a token with a crucible out and all his lands having being wastelanded, he scooped, g2, i saw a monster opening hand, 2 explorations, 3 green sources, crucible and wasteland, opp was on the play, chalice at 1 and sphere of resistance, screwed, g3, maybe a big mistake, kept a 1 land hand thinking i'd draw more, got pummeled, 1 - 2

    Round 4 Bye

Round 5, Belcher (My deck i loaned out) Belcher player needed to beat me to top 8, i would've proceeded to concede but he informed me he had to drop if he made top 8 so i played expecting this to be a loss. G1 i drew a hand with tabernacle, maze of ith, EE, savannah, taiga, rishadan port, thespians stage, he was on the play, land granted, i saw he wasn't belching but going for empty the warrens, that was nice, he made 16 goblins and passed, i dropped tabernacle, passed, all goblins bar 1 gone, he pinged at me with his goblin for a couple of turns until i EE it away and draw into a crop rotation to go get depths for the last token piece, i couldn't make it straight away but he only had 2 turns left and conceded. G2, in came the hate, kept an opening hand of savannah, tropical, crop rotation, thalia, wasteland, maze of ith and enlightened tutor. He land granted, i see he hasn't learnt his lesson and gone mulling for belcher, he at this stage passes, i play savannah, pass right back, he draws and passes, i tropical and drop thalia, he at this stage starts in on a cycle of draw, go, i play wasteland removing his taiga, crop rotate into tabernacle in case he trys to empty the warrens, he continues drawing, discarding and passing, i assume he is looking for a belcher, i end up with crucible out and 2 explorations, at this stage i enlightened tutor into chalice, pass turn, he draws, it was now or never for him, he passes, i draw my chalice, set it at 4, he concedes, 2 - 0.

Overall it was a good learning experience, think i might move into the GR list and run gambles maybe but it made my day stopping belcher.

Hi guys, so ive got my first legacy event in 2 months and i was wondering if i posted up all the cards i have that could be used for lands could i get help on building the best deck i can for a basically unknown meta, im aware of goblins, burn and some deathrite shaman/death's shadow deck. Also belcher if i loan that to some one else to play.

    Thanks.

Are you just trying to get close to it, or do you know you have most of it? Go for it, in anycase.

Also, giving belcher to someone and playing lands is like shooting yourself in the foot.

No ive got all the pieces, minus 1 dark depths, so just have a 3:1 thespians/depths split, just that there is alot more than 75 cards i could use in it and im not sure what the best build will be for an unknown meta.

Yeah i thought of running belcher but i'd rather play lands and one of the local kids wants to play so i thought what the hell he can use belcher even though if we match up it's a bad match for me.

Darth Squirtle - Would you mind posting your GW list?

I'm going to try out a GW list that runs no white cards mainboard, but plays some white lands to have better sideboard options.

Without pulling it out and checking this is what it's currently like, SB is going to change and maybe even the main, need to do some playtesting on a few things before i settle on a solid list.

4 (Pridemage): I don't see the need for another Naturalize effect when you already have 4 Nature's Claim in the SB. If you do need it, Seal of Primordium is very similar and doesn't require white mana - in fact it can be even better, because your opponent can burn Pridemage and then cast whatever artifact/enchantment he wants to play.

I use Qasali and ive found him to be good, his sac ability is nice but it's not the only reason to run him, exalted bonus is also nice and the fact that he has a 2/2 body with those 2 i have found to be relevant in matchups where because im playing infect my opps just crack fetches, then shock themselves driving there life total down while managing to keep my infectors out of the game, if they get into a 11 to 13 life range qasali wears pumps well and can win games that way.

Ive won similarly with hierarch but opp was at 8 life, makes for some odd comments when you pump and win with either of them 2 and not with infect.

Also, could a white splash be useful in this deck?

    It would give us:

    1) Slightly better removal (Path to Exile or Oust over Dismember)

    2) More protection in Emerge Unscathed or Gods Willing type cards as well as Mark of Asylum.

    3) Much better sideboard hate for affinity (Stony Silence and Kataki, War's Wage)

    4) Qasali Pridemage

    5) Sejiri Steppe in the Sylvan Scrying tutor package

I also doubt that it would greatly destabilize the manabase. Even without fetches, a deck could run eight white/green sources that would come into play untapped (Razorverge Thicket and Temple Garden).

Might not be worth it, just an idea.

    Thoughts?

I'm running a W splash version in paper, Qasali Pridemage is a very good card in the deck.

I still run Dismember alongside Path to Exile.

I like the W splash and the options it brings over the more typical BUG list and its a deck i'll keep working on.

Inkmoth Nexus is the only money card in MonoG, and is currently just under 5 tickets each. The whole deck will cost about 40 tickets, unless you run something like Spellskite, which makes it more expensive.

    40 tix = around $40?

i'm mostly running the black green infect list, I was wondering if drown in sorrow might be as good as creeping corrosion against affinity? I got this idea that the scrying and the 1 mana less might make it worthwhile since my list can afford the black mana black mana

You could try it, i don't like the look of it, but before you play that you would have to pump your creature(s).

@Darth Squirtle. Why did you only like probe in UG instead of mono green? Was it just that you had the blue mana to cast it?

Sorry i don't play mono g, just UGx lists and then only 2 probe's in the 75, both MD, but i was thinking it would have a spot in mono g to, maybe even as more than 2.

I think it is a decent card to use but i can't see myself putting anymore in there, but i generally pay the 2 life to cast and save my mana for pump spells.

    Quote from radouf »
But isn't the main use of Probe to see if they have anything to blow up your infectors? And if so, wouldn't you rather just have an answer in hand? Smile

What other plus-value have you gotten from a Probe? Im interested in it, but couldn't figure a reason that wouldve made it just better than have the Apostle's blessing, as an answer. Since everything we do is pretty straight-forward.

I may be using probe wrong, but i like that you get a draw off of it to, yeah the argument can be made why not just run x if thats what you want to draw into, but probe aside from letting you see if they can kill your dudes is useful if you draw it early enough to try figure out what deck they are running and then giving you some room to plan your plays ahead etc etc instead of going in blind.

I didnt realize. haha. Shouldnt this be in the modern page then?? Or is it just for a casual play group that uses modern format list??

Yeah it's basically something else to play casually against people who cards are limited to modern onwards so want to at least keep it in that period with the bannings of modern.

That's not really "card draw", unless you're excited to pay 1G to draw Memnite. You can combo it with Wirewood Symbiote or Cloudstone Curio for actual, serious card draw, though.

Yeah Genesis Wave is what i was thinking of, don't know why i put the other one in there, getting my draw and hate cards mixed up.

    Cloudstone Curio looks interesting, thanks.

Has anybody else tried Gitaxian Probe in their mono green lists? I posted my list back on page 3 but didn't get much response. I just wanted to see if anybody else has given it a shot. I have a ptq in two weeks and I am trying to put the finishing touches on my deck.

Right now I am running 4 Gitaxian Probes and 2 Apostle's Blessing main with the other 2 in the board. I'm starting to feel like I'm doing something wrong here. All lists I see have 0 probes and the 4 blessings main. Do you think it's possible to drop to 20 lands with 4 of both probe and blessing main or is that too risky? Or should I just drop the probes and go for the 4 blessings main and fill the 2 flex slots with something else then?

I'm a big fan of probe in my UGx lists, mono g my thought's were maybe a 3/3 split probe/blessing but if you need that extra blessing then perhaps a 2/4 split of probe/blessing could be worth a look.
