I think the new options give us sufficient new design directions (many of which seem distinctly non-D&T-like but may still result in great decks) that I personally don't feel like I need to make a wishlist. But a White Bob where opp gains life equal to revealed CMC would be fun.

Just a mind game. To understand what the actual gaps are in the previous iterations of the deck.

Hey Fex, looks like a fun list, plenty of sequencing and options on the decision tree. I have wanted to get pontiff in for some time... Do you really need that much tax in there? Chalice, Orb and prelate? Seems almost stompy. Plus the 3 Stp also makes me worried, that card has saved me more than I care to think.

When this deck really took off 3-4 years ago, the philosophy was to make each top deck count. This was because there was no card draw outside HC and no tutors, even the tutor board was in the minority to the overlap board, the philosophy remained strong. I want the recruiter to work but I wonder if it is simply taking the deck in a whole new direction. Sometimes I think that it is a combo tutor with no combo to tutor, but then I look at it with vial and it seems really cool to EoT tutor for a bullet, untap, tap vial and in comes bullet. With two vials it is even more fun.

So, what is this deck about, why does it win? What are the weaknesses? And forgetting the new cards, what is the nirvana card that we have been hoping R&D would release? I don't know the answers. We will find out though. For the record, I want a Mirran replacement that is a touch more true to the tax, Thalia 2.0 almost but make a 1WW and something more beating and I will be "yep".

I have been having a couple of thoughts about the new card, in particular the recruiter. I play painter and recruiter is a staple. What I am worried about is that its a turn 4 play (5 with vial) without a missed land drop in the first three turns. The original philosophy behind D&T was that without tutors no card off the top was dead, Horizon Canopy was in because of that, so goodbye HC. My question is, is recruiter a main deck card or a new direction for the sideboard but the ET is swifter? Not sure the philosophy of the deck is wrong.

To solve the turn out of recruiter, sol lands are an option, plausible but they bite and can clog up your hand. In painter we use them with SDT and fetches. Cute idea I was thinking about Mox Diamond and Riftstone portal possibly too cute though. It ain't no Urborg but I just feel sol lands undermine the mono white advantages of the deck.

Don't even know where to begin with prelate... Am wondering if every single card is up for review and turning the tax up to 11 (even though the deck is more aggro than it has been in the past) with one or two beat sticks but I want to resist the urge of going full stompy but it is hard to... How critical is the SFM package if the kill is assured by the hardish lock?

    Good problems to have.

Hello DnT crew, I am back!!! Since we last read/wrote, I have been divorced, moved, improved my deadlift to 350lb, almost sold me cards to buy a watch and now have a new SO who's response to, "Want to see my nerdiest possession?" was, "Hell yes!!" (it is actually my fully signed and altered Strawberry Shortcake painter deck)followed by "teach me to play". KEEPER!!! Jealous? Don't be. After levelling her up through EDH, I have finally convinced her, against the advice of never go full nerd, that legacy is a format for a more civilized age and here is where things have gone awry...

Infect and Grixis Delver dabbles resulted in her unzipping her Louis Vuitton purse and smacking down the cash for a Miracles deck!!! FFS? - Never go the full nerd. We are racing the gauntlet on the way to some tournaments later in the year. Her on Miracles is on par with my old mate and co pilot who every Monday used to give me a masterclass in Elves, or would have had I not stepped outside and had a smoke during his turns and I don't even smoke!

So gang (some familiar faces - Hi!!!), how is my old favourite DnT going? Some results look good and DTB on the Source is great. I liked a more aggro build. What is the core now? I see some Eldrazi flexing in some builds and some colour splashing happening. Same questions on the sideboard. New Thalia is hot!! Not sure about the card though. Should I break up with my SO and find someone more willing to be my mirror?

Thanks in advance. Hoping to get a bit of knowledge going before I contribute value in return.

I was playing against my SO and she has Atarka and Aggravated Assault out. I played Tamiyo and tap Atarka. On her turn she pays the aggregated assault untapping Atarka. Does she get two attack phases also?

The one I am most embarrassed about is mana-weaving. When I started in Revised, at the LGS we all did it, after each game everyone would unsort and then weave their decks, (possible explanation is that we all played with 20 lands only).

I got back into magic 2 years ago and at my first LGS tournament there I was happily mana-weaving sitting across from my opponent. No one said a word, they would just pick up my deck and shuffled it themselves rather than cut it. I got to talking to a guy after the tournament about how everyone shuffled my deck (pile, riffle, mash) and he pointed out they were doing it to randomise my weaving as it was pretty much cheating. I was hugely ashamed and spent the next few tournaments explaining the situation and apologising to anyone who would listen.

    So, to you all sorry!

Big 'grate on the fourth child! Fourth!!!!!!! O taught my kids magic also, "to help them with maths" but we now play edu as Legacy is way to advanced for them.

On updating the primer, I am happy to help as I am sure many are.

Yo, what is up guys? I haven't plated in AAAAAGEEEESSS (I think the last time I played legacy was shortly after SCG Oakland). What is the meta right now? What should I be packing in my sideboard? If I go to a local tournament, what decks should I expect to see?

    He's baaack!

I would say, at least 4 Spellskites.

A couple of things to note about doves cape. Cycling gets through it. Cards the have an alternate cost e.g. FOW will still produce doves. And spells that can't be countered are unaffected (boseiji who shelters all). With all that said though, I don't think dovescape is legit in legacy, it is simply too expensive to cast.

    The edh combo is Guile.

One of the things that is worth noting about cataclysm is that if you are starting with the deck it is a potent reset for those odd times you have played yourself into a corner. There are definitely good and bad matches for it and most have been listed and it has been a flex board card present in many top 8 DnT builds.

I don't play it anymore but when I was new to the deck it got me out of sticky situations that now I am less likely to find myself in. That is the reason it now sees limited play overall, players realised they could win without it.

Playing it is pretty simple hold back, let your opponent play into it tap the rest of you mana into the pool, pull the trigger and then put out whatever else you can and attack. Keep beater, plains and vial or Mangara Karakas and vial then take the last land. It is brutal but effective. (Flagstones are a nice touch too)

What about true believer or aegis of the gods?

I find the burn match up not great but winnable, I overwhelm them with creatures and try and get them to burn those until they empty their hand. Play batterskull main and get that life life linking goodness. Try and play only plains. Keep your stps for yourself. And get those vials out and protect them with spellskite.

Spellskite is also handy against Burn, you will take life loss but it buys time.
