I ordered an amulet of Vigorand I forgot which deck it's supposed to go in... Facepalm

    Build Patron of the Moon.

I traded away my Amulet at the last Grand Prix, but I wanted to build the Patron deck so bad for a while. It's just so crazy how it works on a different axis than the usual blue deck.

Marchesa seems cool in that respect. There’s a lot of neat combat tricks in the colours that can turn the game on it’s head. I guess it depends what you define as fun, it’s a subjective thing. My most enjoyable deck to play is Nissa, purely because it’s pretty explosive, resilient and has some cool tricks up its sleeve, but I don’t think it’s entirely budget anymore. It’s probably like $250-300 NZD at a guess.

My Nissa deck is a tribal build around Nissa herself, and that requires I play some Eldrazi. As a result of playing Newlamog and Emrakul, that's another $65USD right there. Add on the Oracle of Mul Daya, and it's $100 in three cards. This game gets real expensive, even when you try to be budget.

With the announcement that the site is closing down, we should try and find another place to congregate and keep discussions going. It would be a shame to lost contact with all of you wonderful people.

I'm so excited for Scrspyard Recombiner that it's silly. I run a Construct tribal deck in 60 card, and they just gave me a hard tutor for whatever I want. My friends and I actually run it in a league where you're required to maintain at least 20 of an "obscure tribe" in the main, regardless of whether or not you sideboarded.

extraplanar lens is going to see a slight bump in price if not a spike.

I used to run Extraplanar Lens in my mono-green deck, but ended up cutting it because I don't run snow basics, and it kept getting blown up. If everyone decides to switch over to snow basics because they're the new hotness, I might try and slot it back in and counter-tech them.

so, I think the next outside of the box deck I'm going to do is 99 forest Omnath, Locus of Mana

You should cut one Forest for Dryad Arbor as a backup wincon.

anyone else wanna suggest cards for this crazy idea?

Go to 97 Forests, Dryad Arbor, and Lost in the Woods?

Yeah I did also, but I also listened to a lot of 90s stuff in high school, so for me there is what "should" be classic rock, and what I consider my generation of music. So seeing the two being played side by side is a realization of just how old i am.

I've gone back and listened to some 90s and 00's music recently, and I'm shocked how much I remember just through osmosis growing up. I don't actively listen to anything remotely close to that nowadays, but even still. I did have Check Yes, Juliet by We the Kings stuck in my head all day Wednesday, though.

So? Maybe its just that I don't date myself with music. I grew up listening to what in my time was classic rock.

I was the same way. Whenever I was in the car with my dad, it was classic rock music from the 70s and 80s, with a heavy lean toward the British Invasion bands.

A friend and I collaborated and produced a monstrosity of a mono-white deck around the new Oketra. I haven't even gotten the chance to proxy it up yet, but he's got all of the pieces for it sans the Oketra herself. I'm both curious and scared to see how it works out. I normally only mess with green cards, so dabbling in mono-white is awkward for me.

Let me know if you need some help. Mono white is my stomping grounds.

Haha, that's like me and green decks. I might have to take you up on it.

As a predominantly mono-green player, I was shocked at the number of decent to good green cards I got in a set focused mainly on Planeswalkers, on a plane that puts emphasis on two-color pairings.

I was starting to settle into the "Take a break from Magic" plan, and then they go and spoil God-Eternal Rhonas. Now I have to find a slot in my already tight mono-green deck to accommodate it.

I was getting burnt out really hard on EDH for a while, but I've recently found my new love for the format in the form of building tribal decks based around the 5 Origins Walkers. I've already built Nissa, Vastwood Seer, and I've started working on a list for Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh today.

They end up being really budget, so I can afford to build them and just carry them around to play during games where I don't feel like bringing out the big guns.

Played some EDH games yesterday for the first time in months. I had forgotten how much more fun this is than Arena.

Nice! That's better than my overall experience at FNM. Showed up to my LGS a little early, jammed a couple games of mid to high power EDH. I was playing Nissa Tribal against Tristani Discordant and Jodah, Archmage Eternal. You can probably already figure out how this went, but long story short the Jodah player crushed us both games. I had a deck in my bag that could have probably beat him, but then I didn't want to overpower everyone.

Afterward, I left and went to go eat dinner for a bit. Came back, and some other friends were in a 3 player game, with a fourth sitting at the table watching. I was going to get in on the next game, but decided to let the guy at the table take my spot as the fourth. Good thing I did, because their game took an hour and a half and resulted in two people decking themselves.

Nice find! They did a good job on the alter. I actually like that they got rid of the name and CMC. It cleans the card up just that little bit more.
Doing extensions on older cards with the pre 8th edition border is tricky because they don't have nameplates like modern cards do. As such, you've either got to get rid of the name and the mana cost (which sucks because that's pertinent information to your game piece) or leave it on and hope the white text looks good against whatever art it's sitting against. It often doesn't, especially if the artist isn't very talented. The whole thing is kind of a lose-lose situation.

Add onto that the fact that the artwork for Timetwister isn't exactly a subdued piece. It's all pretty vibrant.
