Does anyone know a site where I can upload a bunch (two decks of ~60 each) of custom cards as .png files and save it as format that I can then use on untap.in? Or is there another, easier way to do this, or a better site?

    Thank you!

    Hope that helps!

Thank you for the response! I just spent a couple of hours going through it and editing the deck, and probably replaced 10-12 cards based on your advice.

    * Got rid of the tapped-when-played lands and replaced them with the Brushland, Caves of Koilos, and Llanowar Wastes. I figure there's enough life gain in the deck that the damage will be negligible. Included a City of Brass for the same reason.

*Included Tooth and Nail, but I think there are enough game-winning creature targets already (Trostani, Worldspine, Felidar, Doomgape), so including Restoration Angel is unnecessary--as much as I'd love an excuse to buy her. Also, I'd then have to include cards that synergize with her, and it ends up making the deck too unfocused.

    * Trying Baloth Woodcrasher as there are several cards that let me play more than one land, including Oracle, Azusa, and Crucible. Seems like he could easily become a 16/16 trampler.

    * Included Primal Rage, at least for now--there are just so many big creatures in the deck that seem likely to benefit.

    * Added Gaea's Blessing as solid protection from mill decks, not to mention its other uses. I figure that even if I'm playing Life from the Loam on repeat, I'll be playing the lands right after, and the rest of the graveyard will just be AFK.

    * Replaced Cultivate with Harrow, as it fits better with the land recursion theme and also gives a faster mana advantage.

Thanks for pointing out the Timber Protector synergy with Armageddon! Hadn't noticed that before, either.

It looks like our decks have a little bit in common, although you run significantly more creatures than I do.

You could consider a token sub-theme. Since you're already using Life from the Loam + Crucible of Worlds, Worm Harvest is a surprisingly good card. Nath of the Gilt-Leaf is a swell guy and can get rid of all of your friends in tandem with Sadistic Hypnotist.

If you'd like to see my deck list.

I actually viewed your deck on /r/competitiveEDH last night and was very impressed. I already had a life gain angle going, and when you introduced me to Felidar Sovereign, I decided to make it a deck theme. I didn't want to outright copy your creation, though, so I shied away from tokens and any non-land sweeps, instead opting for a creature-heavy approach and a focus on land control. This also fits my personal play style (and budget) a bit better. Sure do wish I could afford a Gaea's Cradle and a Wasteland, though!

If you don't mind, I have a bunch of questions for you, as a far more experienced player with a similar deck--I tried to link everything to make it easier:

    * My deck is a bit heavy on green, but my mana isn't, and I can't afford duals or fetches. I'm thinking about removing Bojuka Bog (which is a bit redundant with Honor the Fallen) and just replacing it with either a forest or City of Brass. Not sure what else I could change, though. It feels like I start the game with too many lands that are put into play tapped, which may slow me down since I have twelve 1-drops in the deck. Any thoughts on removing Bojuka Bog or suggestions on how to work in more green mana?

    * Would Sheltering Word be worthwhile (considering Felidar Sovereign, Vizkopa Guildmage)?

    * Battlewand Oak isn't that great as the deck has a grand total of 5 forests and 3 other treefolk, not to mention that he lacks trample and is pretty bad without an active Doran. Should I kick him to the curb?

    * I can use Treefolk Harbinger to tutor Unstoppable Ash, then sacrifice Harbinger for its "champion" ability, often giving me a 5/5 trample or 10/10 if blocked on the fourth turn whenever I draw Harbinger in my opening hand. I'm still unsure about Timber Protector, though--is he worthwhile to make Doran indestructible? He's not even indestructible himself. I was thinking Shield of the Oversoul might be a good replacement. Thoughts?

    * Been looking at Divinity of Pride, as the lifelink synergizes with my other life shenanigans, not to mention that it'll often be an 8/8 flying for BBBBB, which I could easily have on turn 2 (T1: swamp, T2: tap swamp to float mana -> Lake of the Dead). Maybe as a replacement for Battlewand Oak?

    * Test of Endurance is really tempting as another strict win condition given all the life gain already in the deck. I think I'll just have to play-test first and see how often my life happens to get to 50. How has this card worked out when you've seen it used?

    * Since my deck is less graveyard-focused, would Diabolic Tutor be better than Increasing Ambition? I can't really afford Vampiric Tutor or Grim Tutor. Or, Primal Command -> gain 7 life + tutor for Felidar Sovereign -> win the game. Or both?

    * Any experience with Lotus Vale? Given my land recursion theme, thought it might be a nice addition. I just worry that (a) it limits the mana to one color, and (b) it's a single, juicy target, so I haven't put it in yet.

    * Thoughts on Xathrid Gorgon? Might work well as removal for generals. I haven't included it yet because (contrary to popular belief) I feel that it doesn't synergize well with Doran--the transition from 3/6 to 6/6 is a bit redundant, given that it has deathtouch. That might change if I include Primal Rage, though--

    * Thinking of Primal Rage, even though I already have Rancor, as I have a lot of creatures which it benefits (Trostani, Timber Protector, Skinshifter, Silklash Spider, Serra Ascendant, Rhox Faithmender, Pontiff of Blight, Knight of the Reliquary, Felidar Sovereign, Divinity of Pride if I include her, and of course, Doran himself). Maybe to replace Oblivion Ring, since I already have a good deal of removal?

    * Feast of Worms, Mwonvuli Acid-Moss, or Stream of Acid would all add to my land control theme. Thoughts on which (if any) would be best to include? Leaning towards Feast, because I have enough land control that I don't need more forests from Moss, and Stream gives me more creature removal when I already have enough. And the targeted destruction of 2 lands for 5 mana is pretty sweet.

    * Thinking of removing Praetor's Counsel, as it's very expensive and my deck is less graveyard-centered than yours. I don't think it's worthwhile except as protection against mill, which I can get elsewhere--the only stuff I plan to put in my graveyard will be lands, and by the time I have the 8 mana casting cost, I won't really need them. Any suggestions on better cards to guard against mill decks? I was thinking Reliquary Tower or an Elixir of Immortality.

    * Tooth and Nail has some pretty insane possibilities. Trostani + Worldspine, Trostani + Felidar, or Worldspine + Doomgape. Think I'll be able to get 9 mana fast enough for this to be worthwhile? Seems like it would basically be a win condition.

Whew, I think that's all I have for now. Sorry for the wall of text--kind of stream-of-thought as I went through my deck list.

Here's the deck without reanimation, so far--more of a trample approach: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/haunted-doran/

Feeling like it's still lacking in win-cons, though.

Echoing Frosty, shocks is really as high as you need to go with your mana base. Then focus on your 2cmc ramp spells and rocks so you can ensure a T3 Doran, ideally equipping him with a sword and swinging on turn 4. Check out the list in my primer (link in sig) because I think we have similar goals.

Thanks for the response. I looked through your primer last night--it's a great post. I was hoping to avoid the reliance on equipment, though, and to instead have a reanimation element. Doesn't seem to be working just yet, but I'm still not ready to get pigeon-holed into equipment.

    Here's the new list!

Thank you all very much for the input so far--it's been a huge help.

My new strategy is a bit more focused on land destruction and recursion. Armageddon is the sweeper, with Strip Mine, Lake of the Dead, and my three cycling lands also synergizing. I can then follow this up with Crucible of Worlds. I can also use Life from the Loam, Oracle of Mul Daya, and Azusa, Lost but Seeking to flood the board with my afore-wiped lands, ideally giving me a huge mana advantage.

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth allows me to feed any land to Lake of the Dead for 4 mana, gives a ton of mana via Cabal Coffers, and facilitates Tainted Field and Tainted Wood. Crop Rotation is included to facilitate the Urborg/Coffers combination, as is Knight of the Reliquary, who also syngergizes with the Crucible tactic.

I have a number of alternate win conditions in this deck, as well.

First, I have a number of high life-gain cards, like Trostani, Selesyna's Voice, Worthy Cause, Doomgape, and Rhox Faithmender. These allow me to win via Felidar Sovereign, or to activate Vizkopa Guildmage and decimate my opponents.

Second, I can tutor for Sorin Markov and use his second and third abilities. Along with the above Vizkopa strategy, his second ability would result in a quick win.

Third, given the mana advantage and life-gain in this deck, I can use a well-timed Death Cloud to nuke everyone else.

Fourth, with a high creature load and Pontiff of Blight, extort becomes another potential win condition.

Fifth, I can simply beat my enemies to death with Doran and an early Elspeth, Knight-Errant, as buffed by Rancor, Lighting Greaves, etc.

Happy to update this further with more specific card justifications, if anyone's interested. And still very grateful for any advice! I haven't play-tested this at all yet, and I'm quite new to EDH, so there may well be glaring tactical errors of which I'm not aware.

  • posted a message on "General" Advice
I'm new to EDH, though I'm an experienced player with a decent collection, and I'm looking for some advice on choosing a general. I enjoy black and green, but am also somewhat partial to white, so I was thinking a three-color deck. However, there are apparently only 4 possible generals in all of MTG with this combination, and I'm not flattened by any of them. Doran and Karador could be fun, though, and I'm leaning towards Karador, more so because of his ability and colors than because I'm excited about the idea of him as my general.

That said, I was thinking about either a GB general, or a mono-color G or B general. I hate counters and tokens, and I'm not a fan of novelty decks, e.g. mill. I enjoy the huge creatures of green and the death aesthetic of black. I'm also a sucker for good artwork.

Could anyone make some recommendations of which generals I might choose? Thank you ahead of time!

oh guys aren't there rules and moderators on this forum? it should end up with a mod giving a warning or something. this is getting ridiculous.

MaMing named the author but did not link to his art. He never said that it is his own original work....

Not true. He absolutely did not name the original artist in any way.

As for stirring up drama: Are you serious? Someone was caught stealing artwork. That's not drama. It's copyright infringement. Ma Ming is a fantastic artist, but that doesn't give him the right to use others' work without citing it.

The work is overtly stolen. Hence, the word "steal". I am not sure how you came to the conclusion that I am a racist because I recognized stolen work and called it as such.

Oh I see, you've met before and he's the same ethnicity as you, so it's not stealing. That makes sense.

I don't see his name credited anywhere. All I see is "MA MING" in huge letters with no indication whatsoever that it's not your artwork. Either way, I let him know--so it's your problem, now.
