That's why people tend to only spend money on things that they want and enjoy and Modern is the second most popular format right after Standard. So it's obviously something that people enjoy.
If they are "right" is totally irrelevant. There is not a single person on the planet who cares.
I would argue that people are playing modern instead of Legacy since modern is slightly cheaper than Legacy in order to build a competitive deck.
If Legacy wasn't so damn expensive, playing Legacy would offer just more possibility and more innovation with respect to Modern.
I have had quite success with the list I posted before guys, it is really solid and well rounded, test it out and see. I feel covered against almost all of the decks around there, unfortunately I don't have much time to test it out on big tournaments.
@debpj when do you bring them in? Do you expect those decks to be in high attendance or you feel you can scoot by without worrying about them? I don't run them, but I know they can be valuable particularly against infect and burn.
I bring the full pack of Spellskites (three in my case) against Burn, Infect, Twin, Bogles and UWR, I feel like it reinforces those matchups a lot. How do you do against that matchups without Spellskite? Are there any better cards to fight those decks?
For Burn and Infect I bring my chalices of the void in.
Implying that you can cast a brainstorm after a turn 1 uncounterable magus of the moon, void at 1, bloodmoon or trinisphere. That is hardly a matter of skill. But let's stick legacy discussion to the legacy forum, as suggested.
Banning Brainstorm would not be good for legacy. It would destroy legacy. I don't know what sort of meta would emerge from the rubble, but it would be essentially unrecognizable.
That is a bad thing? As a non delver player, I would cheer endlessly for the format to not be,
4 BS
4 Ponder
4 TC
4 Force
12 Fetches
{Insert your deck name here and the random other supporting cards},
because you are certainly running the cards above if you want to do well. If not, you are hopping to play against bad people who cant navigate your tax of choice.
Actually I am running MonoR Werewolves Stompy lately with great success. Only D&T is a problem for me. It has none of the cards you listed.
This is the main thing. You cannot really fight Delve besides playing Rest in Peace. The decks using Treasure Cruise fill up the graveyard so fast that single target graveyard hate like Scavenging Ooze is far too slow. Deathrite Shaman wouldn't be any better in that regard. They play too many one-drops, Thought Scour and fetchlands.
Lies. Maindeck chalice at 1 and Delver is out of the games.
There are already quite a few decks that violate that rule in goldfish mode like Infect or 4c ascendancy, but in reality don't because they are easily countered.
I think there a few cards on the banlist that fall into the same category that could be unbanned without being overpowered, like Dread Return or Glimpse of Nature.
I know many here don't like combo but this is not standard, combo is allowed to exist, so for consistency reasons it's unfair to make an exception for some decks while banning others.
And more viable decks are always a good thing right?
No. Dredge would be a guaranteed Game1 win every match.
For the life of me I can't figure out what all the fuzz is about. You're not giving us any reason to take your deck as an example of a good 8Rack build right now. 2/3 in a GPT? Well sorry, but that's a pretty bad performance, especially considering you won against some Delver player (by far the worst matchup, either you are the next Finkel or that guy isn't) and some Affinity dude who clearly doesn't know how this game works and then proceed to lose to some pretty easy decks (obviously piloted by way better players which you met after being 2/0).
And there is absolutely no justification for 3 Thoughtseizes.
No need to be harsh with him since the entire 8rack approach is crap, told by a player which has played the deck in modern and legacy since he was 8 years old like me.
The deck could not stand a chance before and, right now, it's basically impossible to get any consistent result.
Jitte is the prime example of how the Wizard's R&D is not able to balance out cards. It's annoying even in legacy, I don't even know what could happen to modern with such an unban
Delver without TC was bad. It has been played for ages and it was cannibalized by jund/junk due to the fact that when Delver run out of cards, due to Jund/Junk style, then it was out of the game.
Right now Jund/Junk cannot consistently apply their plans with TC around. Ban TC cruise and Delver will fall off, making also Jeskai a more fair deck.
