Norin the Wary - So many good options, but I have to go with the following classic from Gamble: When you've got nothing, you might as well trade it for something else.
I've had one of their Alpha models for a while and I like it a lot. It fits into the main compartment of my backpack with minimal effort. I've never had it come open in there and it holds 8 EDH decks with a little extra space that I use for tokens. Some of TCC's commentary is accurate, but some of it was wrong. Overall, I am content with the product and recommend it over some of the other stuff. Sure, it's not for everyone, but it isn't a total failure either.
My playgroup is split on this change still. The expected resurgence of trouble generals definitely hit this week, cutting the normally decent amount of pods/diversity by roughly half. I myself didn't play any games at my LGS because of generals which tuck either held in check or otherwise was a solid deterrent for. I only carry 1-2 decks a week so I was not expecting to need something brutally efficient. Oh how wrong I was...
Total list of what was there in our normal group of 30-ish players:
6(!) Derevi decks
4 Prossh combo decks
3 creatureless Narset decks
1 Skullbriar deck
With nearly half of the playgroup shifting back to some of the more toxic generals I am forced to either do the same or give up on what was a very fun and diverse playgroup. Would tuck have solved all of this? No. However, I talked with most of the people who were running the above and most listed this change as to why they went back to their "favorite" deck since it could not be effectively punished any more.
I play a wide range of decks in EDH, ranging from combo glass cannons to Spike-tastic tuned machines. The commander should always be an important piece, but making it THE piece and not expecting to be punished for it is...rough. Narset/Melek creatureless decks are a good example. By devoting yourself to one specific strategy that only your commander enables, you should prepare for stiff resistance. On the other hand, ignoring what the Commander can do is foolish, and I am in no way recommending that. I'm just not looking forward to the resurgence of Uril/Sigarda/Zur/etc which were partially kept in check by this. I was fine with the French list having that rule variant as it was designed to be more competitive. Multiplayer EDH though should be equally competitive and creative, and this has removed a good tool from that arsenal.
The problem with the most recent rule change is that the less interactive commanders just became nightmares. How does Pithing Needle/Phyrexian Revoker answer Sigarda/Uril? Those were two generals that demand an answer rapidly or the game is done. Wraths only go so far to discourage them, and eventually run out, even with all five colors at your disposal and a flawless mana base. Nevermore/Meddling Mage/etc and the previous two answers are easily axed, especially within G/W decks. Sending Prossh/Derevi/Jelava into the deck was one of the only ways to stop an auto-win in the right deck for some colors. In the end though, the choice has been made, whether it is one people like or not.
That's one of the most important deck building lessons in EDH to be honest. Assume the commander is unusable when deciding on cards. Even Voltron decks have backup options, so realistically, no deck should be gimped out of contention if a player treated their general like it was hit with Nevermore. Just my opinion on this less than stellar change. Hopefully my playgroup decides to ignore this ruling until Magic Origins to see if the RC reverses this.
It's late where I am, but one immediate thing I can think of that stands out to me is the lack of Cloudform in your deck. Yes, blue is your splash color and it is a double symbol requirement, but I think that in Sealed especially, it should be run if you are inclined to run blue at all. It is very hard to kill, especially with Erase being kicked out of the pool.
I need some time to process this as this removes one of my only safety valves against some of the more annoying commanders like Derevi who thrive in the command zone. I guess it's time to break out Nevermore/et al again, which are nowhere near as helpful. What's funny is that my playgroup pointed to things like Chaos Warp/Oblation/Spell Crumple as answers for Derevi's shenanigans and now that has been yanked away. I highlight Derevi with this news due to it being in one of the nastiest color combinations in my playgroup and for being the commander that cares the least about going back to the CZ repeatedly.
I'd love to see Prophet get the boot, about half of my playgroup is in agreement that it is reaching Prime Time/Sylvan Prime levels of shenanigans. In one game I saw it cloned 3 times, reanimated twice, and only dealt with when I hit it with Praetor's Grasp after a Chaos Warp. I know that there are multiple cards that yield the same combined effect as PoK, but having it on one body is just nuts.
Realistically, I don't see much, if anything changing. Good thing I traded for a playset of Jester's Cap. Gotta keep things sane somehow.
I'm thinking I'll give Impact Tremors a spot, and Commune with Lava will replace one of my bad wheels since I don't have Wheel of Fortune yet. Very good set for Norin testing if nothing else.
I personally don't feel like we'll get the Zendikar fetches in DTK. They're more likely for MM2015 as a hype tool. Also, all 10 fetches in Standard at once seems a touch overkill.
What I personally think is more likely would be the allied check-lands. Glacial Fortress, etc.
Ye olde 2 mana conditional kill spell again, that can't kill Rhino. Personally, I'm happy to see it back since I mainly play limited and this is almost always a good card there.
Welp, there's our fixing!
