Did anyone ever test Meteor Golem? Was thinking about it as a replacement for Duplicant, but I'm not sure where I weigh on the exile vs. flexibility argument just yet.
i actually have meteor golem in all my non white/non green commanders. in norin specifically i have both this and duplicant. i would consider dropping duplicant only if i didn't have an imperial recruiter as the upside of being tutorable is what makes duplicant a great card in norin.
pyroblast is my suggestion for a second instant that it's worth to be run, while a possibility storm is in play.
can be used on any permanent, as the color check is on resolution only (so any target is legal).
synergy with top is one of the selling points for me. i would probably find space for a scroll rack but i think that's the limit on what i would bend the deck to accomodate experimental frenzy.
make sure no one is running pithing needle effects though.
experimental frenzy in play could mean recruiter, choose anything you would wish to keep in hand as a first card and pass turn, goblin chieftain and krenko, mob boss for 7 mana for a big hit. the same line of plays that can be done with moggcatcher.
i might have dismissed the card too quickly. for all intents, all card draw can now filter in the hand whatever you don't want to play, and when you do, the only two pieces of interaction you can have in your hand are (in my deck) chaos warp and pyroblast, and the deck has the tendency to stick playing whatever you draw anyway. has anyone here tried it?
it's the "with lesser power" clause on legion warboss that stopped me from preordering the card. granted that in the artifact version i'm running it's another non artifact, i still feel it would be clunky as hell, especially if you expected it to protect marchesa.
midnight reaper i'm trying it as well, grim haruspex breaks games and a copy of the effect is always welcome.
stuff the deck with every card advantage mono red can think of. then add this card. suddenly all those cards don't do anything unless you pay 3r. this is not the deck for the card, it's a far cry for being as useful as future sight.
if you want this kind of effect, you would be better off with outpost siege.
in the meantime, i have updated the list: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/varina-control-2 it is still missing vampiric and demonic tutor, but that's only because i don't plan on buying other copies for this deck.
So I am finally building my Muldrotha deck and try as I might I have yet to see a mention of Safe Haven. This land seems like the most amazing add in it protects Muldrotha for 2 mana every turn!!! Plus jt costs less than $0.50.
except when you use it to protect muldrotha, an opponent plays a strip mine, and destroys the land. you can't recover muldrotha from that, since it was already exiled and not put into the commander zone, unless you manage to play a riftsweeper. plus, the land doesn't even tap for mana.
close but too risky.
I think you should look into more Ramp (not a fan of the one time uses like dark ritual, perhaps just some rocks). reconnaissance, psychosis crawler and chasm skulker all seem like really good fits. Only thing id be worried about is GY Hate, something that dose something like Epitaph Golem can help you save needed cards (probly better things, just did a quick search) or something that gives you the player hexproof so people cant target your GY
yes, but what would you remove from the list?
i think i can be able to handle gy hate not being too greedy and by intentionally discarding ulamog before my graveyard becomes scary. the main form of gy hate i see is bojuka bog. even then, unless a rest in peace effect is in place, i think this deck would not be as blocked as other graveyard matter decks.

in your shoes i would build a hard control deck with another win condition. storm or doomsday perhaps?
