I'm in the process of foiling out a Reanimator deck sculpted for local tournament play, thankfully I just had to slap together two Graveborn decks, already had the duels and FoW laying around. I just have to track down a few more things and I'll be set.

In the end it's just a fun thing to do.

I think it'd be fun, plus allow for further discourse that may improve the future gaming experiences of other cubers as the pros/cons are discussed while a deck is slowly built through voter participation.

Given my playgroups style and my rather lackluster selection in Simic, this is definitely in the lead for being added.

I'd like to snag a foil version, but that won't be for awhile.

Though who knows, perhaps there will be better Simic cards being released with the upcoming expansion.

I place my cube inside a refurbished 5.56 ammo canister, it's a fairly tight fit with all those sleeves and that's helped with warping. Plus as it's been mentioned, I've used a few left over Silica packets to soak up any humidity that may be caught within.

I've had great luck with Contagion and False Prophet in my 450 cube, admittedly and naturally it's sculpted to suit my local groups playing style. Through what I've learned here and from feedback from the locals all of my cards synergize well (at least we'd like to think that ).

I started playing in '93, back then it was more of a passing fancy played with friends at lunch time and on the weekends. Interests eventually moved onto other things, but we all retained our collection of cards ( mostly because we stored them in boxes and forgot about them ).

These days I've built up a 450 cube that's a culmination of the cards I've owned and an esoteric collection of cards that the local scene enjoys. I've sold off the rest of my cards except for six decks that I refuse to break up and two boxes of Dom Perignon 1988 that have since been emptied ( they were gifts when I was 10, my family is weird like that ) filled with tradeables meant to bolster the cube if/when I want to upgrade.

If it wasn't for those trade boxes, my career and having a few friends in WotC ( who shuffle cards my way to fill out my cube ), I wouldn't see the point of flashing out my cube, the cost is prohibitive and realistically the rate of return isn't in your favor if you're doing this for financial gain. Though I do it for nostalgia and fun, in the end a good time far outweighs the financial repercussions. . . but I will backhand someone who even attempts to riffle shuffle my cards.

If you can afford to do it and you don't see yourself lamenting over the price, then by all means go for it. Though as it's been said before, if you find yourself questioning the price, go for the standard/cheaper print or proxy until you can justify buying it.

I've built mine with a 3/2/1/1 ratio, including all cards from MM.

At the moment we've had great success just slapping together 10 commons, 3 uncommons and 1 rare plus a wild card that could be anything from a common to mythic.

All the cards are sorts and shuffled in respect to their rarity and placed into stacks, then we each pull 10 commons, 3 uncommons, 1 rare and then one wild card, all of this face down. Once we've squared away three packs each, we'll start the draft.

It's worked for us thus far.

Going to start play testing my cube, again.

Anyone near Oakland who'd like to fill out sheets of paper and help number crunch while we play?

    Fun huh?

I've been tinkering with the idea of making a Modern Masters cube, thus far I think the best way for me to go about it is to do it with 3 copies of each common, 2 copies of each uncommon, one rare and one mythic.

I'm kind of gambling on the idea that they'll release something like Modern Masters 2 down the road so that I'll be able to combine the two at a later date.

Though for the OP, definitely think about adding rares, the synergy that they'll add to the rest of your cube will be amazing and thankfully they're relatively inexpensive. It's the money stuff that'll cut into your wallet though.

There's something beautiful about Sharpies and a ton of junk lands to fill in the void until I can acquire the new cards.

Appreciate that fooligan. Right now the main theme within my cube is playing to each colors strengths. 60 of each color ( 300 ) and 10 of each guild ( 100 - which could be considered excessive but my local playgroup loves them and I'm quite partial to them myself ) the last fifty are a combination of colorless manarocks and whatever else I have laying around.

Given everyones suggestion I've started to place in more lands into my cube.

Right now we're looking at Shocks, Unlimited Duals and Fetches. The group and I are going to muck about with the cube this weekend. One of these days I'll actually sit down and make a cube list and post it up.

No doubt on that, I've proxied the last three shocklands. Actually finished playing with the cube with eight other people and they've enjoyed the induction of Shocklands.

Right now I'm in negotiation with the LGS on the rest of my stuff, I think I'll be able to snag a set of duals from Unlimited.

Checked my collection yesterday, I happen to have seven of the ten Shocklands laying around. Going to pick up the last three from a LGS within the week to trade for them.

therestless, I'm going to see if they have any of those suggestions laying around and I'll try to pick them up.

wtwlf123, one day I'll be able to pick up the expensive fetches and a set of ABU duals.

I definitely appreciate the quick replies.

I'll have to revisit my cube and take some cards out to give it some synergy once I acquire and stabilize my mana base. Right now I have mana rocks, signets and keyrunes filling in the holes.

    Which kind of sucks.

If I've missed the thread that discusses this, would someone link it?

    Otherwise on with the show!

I'm twenty cards from completing my 450 unpowered cube ( perhaps one day I'll go about the business of placing power into it, I'm only missing a few after all. )

The cards within range from Alpha to current, mostly a conglomeration of random stuff I've acquired over the years of playing and trading.

Though I'm a bit of a loss as to what lands I should put in.

ABU is a given, but I'm a bit strapped for cash. What are good/decent alternatives that won't break the bank?

Meant to say, I'm often playing mtg at Endgame in Oakland, usually Thursdays or Fridays.
