I dunno about combos, but I could see this card finding a home in Jund or other midrange decks utilizing red. Perhaps not Grixis as they already have Snapcaster Mage, but who knows. Perhaps a budget alternative for Grixis players.
Hey guys I'm looking to buy into a new modern deck and this has really piqued my interest.
Something I've considered is including a red splash for Kessig Wolf Run rather than Gavony Township, similar to the Wolfrun Bant deck at GP gatecrash. Has anybody tried testing this? My thoughts are that it could provide a better kind of buff for breaking through walls of enemy creatures. What do you lot think?
LETS RUN GRAVE TITAN IN THE MAIN GUYS. IT WILL WORK.
It does work, I run him as my main win-con. I know Tasigur and Gurmag can bring some heat in the early turns, but if they die to a removal spell then we need to draw another guy. Whereas with Grave Titan he leaves behind two friends when he bites the dust. I know people will disagree with my choice but between him and Young Pyromancer to put pressure on in the early game it works out pretty well.
In fact about a third of the games I've won have been through Young Pyromancer tokens.
Interesting. What is your creature list?
I've got 2 Snapcaster mages (want more, but money), 3 Young Pyromancers, and 2 Grave Titans

I've been running a singleton Izzet Charm in my deck and I think it's a fine addition. Sure it does nothing groundbreaking but it's almost never a dead card I've found.
I quite like the look of this deck bar a few things, which you address in your question.
I reckon Murderous cut is definitely not an early game card, particularly if you're not running anything dedicated to filling your graveyard; I'd just go for another Terminate or possibly Go for the Throat.
Personally I find 4 Mana Leak and a Counterflux to be a good counter suite maindeck, I run a Dispel plus one more Counterflux in my SB also. You might wanna put a negate or two in the maindeck if you think that'd go well in your meta.
Also while I can't speak from personal experience it seems to me like Vendilion Clique is more of a sideboard card to me. I'd cut it and play 2 more Anticipate in the maindeck as they'll be crucial digging for early answers.
Also how are you finding Olivia Voldaren? How well does she help in certain matchups?
@Bommah: Grixis doesnt have many ways of dealing with enchantments, most common answers are: a) make 'em discard it, b) counter it, or c) Engineered explosives it. Artifact, well Rakdos Charm is kind of versatile though never "wowza!", where Kolaghan's Command is auto-value and is sure awesome when rebuying a Snappy.
Kolaghan's Command... Nice! I'm definitely gonna try and find room for that!
I feel like Engineered Explosives won't work so well against certain enchantments, particularly if any Leylines come out at the beginning, I have no way to counter them then and with only 3 mana colours I can't hit them with explosives.
Hey guys it's been a long time since I've been into magic but I'm coming back in and I've spent a while playing around with this deck idea, Grixis seems like a really fun control deck to play.
I haven't actually gotten to playtest it at all, I'm still sorting out getting the cards I need, particularly the more expensive ones like Cryptic and Snapcaster.
I'm considering putting Batterskull in the main deck for life gain, as I think that could be a problem.
I also think I'll be needing some enchantment and artifact removal, but I'm having a seriously tough time trying to work out what to cut for it.
Has anyone tried Cerebral Vortex for card draw? I am going to try it as burn is kinda low in my meta currently
Maybe it's just me, but I'd prefer using something like Read the Bones, you still lose life but you have the benefit of filtering your draw, not to mention it'd be easier on the mana base. Then again you can use Cerebral Vortex to burn your opponent for the win, but I'm not sure how often that would be relevant
You need more mainboard card draw. Read the Bones is about the best card draw black has access to and WAY better than Pilfered Plans. Get at least 3 read the bones. You could even keep a copy or two of pilfered plans so you can have even more card draw.
Yep, the drivers are all up to date. But why would that make a difference when the other connections were working before I even had any drivers installed?
