TARGET is the keyword. If it does not say "Target" then you can't change the "target" as there is no "target".
Enter the Infinite - Draw cards equal to the number of cards in your library, then put a card from your hand on top of your library. You have no maximum hand size until your next turn.
There aren't any words that say "target".
Lightning Bolt -
Lightning Bolt deals 3 damage to target creature or player.
It says "target" creature or player.
So, when a card says "target"; that's the keyword you are looking for.
tl;dr: Sure, Legacy is expensive, but it doesn't really deserve the rap it gets, and it's not a problem that's easy to solve. If you want a format where social class doesn't enter into the game, put your money where your mouth is and spend $15 on a draft.
Fine, then no one will play the eternal formats. It will die out just like WOTC wanted, and now everyone can focus JUST ON Standard and Limited!!! What a ******* awesome game! Who cares about people who played for more than 2 years! We only care about the new uniformed idiots with lots of cash. And once they die out, a new rotation of newbs with deep pockets will come in! The master plan is in full effect.
I guess it really is a PAY TO WIN sort of game. This hobby isn't about playing, it's about how high can we make this piece of cardboard go up! Move over baseball cards. Someday a Black Lotus will reach the 100K mark, and hopefully in another 20 years time, it'll hit 1MM!
Whatever, I'm done. ******* waste of money. Isn't worth playing anymore.
Then it's like the PGA saying you can't you any type golf balls or clubs, you have to use these specific branded items that are stupidly expensive. And you have to buy them every year. They won't make them ever again, the balls and clubs will rotate out and be worthless.
How is this sustainable?
It's a god damn freaggin game! Let people play how they want to play. If it's a goddamn OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT, then yes, by all means - NO PROXIES. But for the rest of the 99% out there, let them play how they want to play. Why alienate everyone, from the players, to the stores?
Get their stupid head out of their asses. They already got a cash cow on their hands. Keep it up and piss your fan base and they'll have nothing left.
You adjust the game to your income level. You have to realize you don't get to do everything in life if you can't afford it. No one if forcing anyone to play anything. If you want to play, buy the cards. Simple. They aren't alienating everyone. All of their market research shows that the vast majority of players are kitchen table casual. One small change here won't hit the bottom line bad. That's like saying the PGA requiring you to buy equipment that is required at tournament levels will effect mini golf where the same requirement is not needed.
Yes, and it's those players who are using the proxies in some way. They can't afford the Power 9's or other stuff on the reserved list. They just want to play MAGIC. They aren't trying to rip people off, they just want to appreciate MTG. But they can't and will have to fear now about using proxies.
I'm not saying you have to buy tournament level equipment to play. But isn't that what UNsanctioned tournaments are for? To kind of play in that environment but not in any official way? So why does WOTC care? You can't playtest with proxies? Then why play at all?
They're just taking to fun out of everything. Game isn't FUN to play anymore. Just a bunch of cardboard with super inflated prices.
There is your problem. This game is probably the worst investment one can make.
This game should be viewed as golf is. It can be played for varying degrees of money. Your skill level is valid across all of those. Your equipment(cards) varies in quality and cost as well. At some point you can eventually sell your equipment for less money than you paid. You may get lucky and some of that equipment is worth more than you paid for but odds are they won't be. The equipment is not an investment. You get what you can enjoy out of the equipment and game but it is a game.
Then it's like the PGA saying you can't you any type golf balls or clubs, you have to use these specific branded items that are stupidly expensive. And you have to buy them every year. They won't make them ever again, the balls and clubs will rotate out and be worthless.

Everyone should just boycott the whole entire game. What's the point of playing now, casually or competitively? Obviously WOTC/Hasbro does NOT CARE ONE OUNCE about it's players, the card game or otherwise. Why are we continuously giving them money for this crap? Sets get boring and boring every year. And the only thing worth getting are the expedition lands, that are only worth it on the secondary market. They break every rule they put forth. The game is a joke now.
Putting there stance on proxies is stupid. Just puts everyone off from trying out new decks. They want new players? Then be more inviting and appreciative to lure people in. All they are doing is alienating every casual player - which is a HUGE percentage who buys their product. Seriously, their cash cow is standard set cards. Why do they care so much all of a sudden about vintage (where most sanctioned proxy tournaments happen)? They've been making nothing off it, they do nothing towards promoting it. If they really cared, then start reprinting that crap cardboard! You want to keep the collectors happy, then reprint it with a different boarder, different art, etc.
This game has been getting so stupid. ******* waste of time and money.
Keep alienating your player base WOTC and just see how many people will keep playing. Sure, you'll get an influx of new players for about a year, and then they too will see the bs you put forth on them and they too will stop playing. Why bother to keep playing when everything is pointless and worthless. Invest a *****ton of money only for it to be completely worthless in a year!! Yeah that's smart economics.
I'd also bring in Buried Alive, so you can throw Sheolred and two other creatures to the graveyard, and then during your upkeep you can bring another creature back to the graveyard (usually It that Betrays).
Hi all,
I am currently looking to buy into a new deck after finally completing my merfolk deck and am concidering Tron (after realizig Grixis anything is way out of my price range ^^) and was wondering what would be a good initial replacement for grove of the burnwillows, Ugin and possibly Karn (since both of those are incredibly expensive to get a playset of right away)
Grove is easy enough to replace with karplusian forest, but Karn? He's practically the reason we play the deck
Just to add though - Karplusan Forest you take 1 damage when adding red or green mana. This is a big deal if you're playing burn a lot. Those 1 points add up fast!
I don't think it will trigger as both lands don't come in at the same time, like say if Primeval Titan's ability does.
If you already had 5 lands (mountains) in play already, it would.
However, once you get to 5 lands through the fetchland, sac'ing Sakura to get another land - that will trigger valakut at that time.
The huge banner across the top of the page (Every page) blocks everything. If I have a notification (the bell) and click on it, a pull down window comes up and shows me what they are, however, the ads just block everything and I can't click on it.
Why does this particular ad blocks and covers everything?

You should look up Show and Tell, Sneak Attack, Omnitell decks. They pretty much cheat in Emrakul (or some other big creature into play).
If you already had 5 lands (mountains) in play already, it would.
However, once you get to 5 lands through the fetchland, sac'ing Sakura to get another land - that will trigger valakut at that time.
Since you're thinking of using Cloudpost - this is the 12 post deck.
If you can add Snapcaster Mage. Helps bring back spells from the graveyard when needed.

Damn, I got one of these too. Still pretty cool though.
