I'm not a fan of vault main, mostly because it is sub-par vs super fast aggro decks. It's subpar vs RW and boss sleigh (arguably UB's toughest matchup).
Speaking of redundancy, I found that I disliked vault + ugin. I often use Ugin's as a quasi vault and disliked running them side by side. Typically when vaults come in, ugins go out.
The only deck that I would run both vaults and ugin is Abzhan.
I also have a bit more creature aggressive deck. I don't usually have much of a problem with them. More of the fatty aggro lists are what i suffer against.
What do you feel about having Vaults main? Currently I've designated them to SB only. I feel like they are somewhat redundant main decked with x2 Ugins and x4 Crux. Post game they typically replace x2 crux. I'm not sure if I want to main them at this point.
Also: depending on the Temur build I think you may have sided wrong. I find that bile blight is excellent in that matchup. Especially if the list is running rabblemaster and/or the new 4/2 haste beater.
Alot of the Temur lists are running at least 20 creatures that bile blight can kill. I wouldn't take it out. I would side out the drown though. Although it can theoretically kill lots of their guys, you don't want to tap out turn 3 to do so (you want counter magic up for their bigger turn 4 drops).
EDIT: I think not having stroke in your 75 is a mistake. That card helps out tons VS GR aggro and Temur Aggro.
I think having Perilous Vault MD is almost a must have. I originally had a split in the MD/SB, but last minute changes had it moved to the main. I think it's a great catch all.
Sometimes our opponent has creatures that we cant just answer all at once. Or a heavy board state where it would take 2-3 turns to clear, where a Vault could just clear everything and give us some time to stabilize.
I also like the fact that it's an easy side out card. If there are match-ups where it doesn't seem optimal there is no thought about keeping it in. To me keeping little tax off my mind is an advantage.
I really don't like having 4x Crux and 2x Ugin. Both can be a dead card at just the wrong time. Also with 4x Dig you should be able to find these answers.
So if you're looking for room to move Vault to the main, that's the cut I'd make. That also gives you 2 new slots in the board.
* I've also used Vault as a threat. sometimes ill play it just for it to sit there and make my opponent try and force me to crack it. Some people start to hold back and that gives me time, other try to play in to it and i just use spot removal and wait.
Disdainful Stroke was in my original 75, but it was a last minute cut. I knew i was going against a fairly aggro meta and that i'd rarely get to use it. I agree it would be good against Temur. If i see him there again this week, i will probably throw 2-3 in the board. Other than that i had no need for the card.
I also agree that i boarded wrong. I'm not 100% that was my actual board for that matchup. It was a quick game and i tried to recall as best i could. Regardless i was at a strict disadvantage.
Match 1 Abzan Midrange 2-0 (1-0-1)
-Game 1: He has a slow start. I manage to turn 3 an ashiok and slowly twiddle him down. He lands a few threats, all of which are answered. Only problem is he killed my Pearl Lake ancient and the game took about 30 minutes.
-Game 2: Much of the same thing. T2 Grindclock, T3 Ashiok. He gets up on me for a while but ashiok -x manages to keep me alive. We go to time and turns, at the end of 5 turns i have him with two cards in library. Ashiok+ Grindclock both active. He gives me the game.
Board:
-2 Drown in sorrow, -1 Bile Blight, -1 Negate
+2 Dark betrayal, +2 Grindclock
Match 2 Mono Black Aggro (2-1)
-Game 1: He gets a quick start and lands an early Hall of Triumph.I scoop on to game 2.
-Game 2: On the play i manage to answer just about everything he plays. Murk Lurker lands and start to eat value. A few turns later He scoops.
-Game 3: He mulls to 5, i have a decent grip. He loses gas quick and gets stuck on two lands. turn 6 scoop.
Board: (Could have brought in dark betrayal, couldn’t find a cut that I liked for it.)
-1 Negate, -1 Ugin, -2 Perilous Vault, -1 Crux of Fate
+4 Murk Lurker, +1 Drown in Sorrow.
Match 3 Jeskai Ascendancy (1-1-1)
-Game 1: Another turn 3 ashiok leads me to victory here. Bile blight and drown in sorrow keep him from doing any big damage.
-Game 2: All things were going well in my favor, had a solid grip. Overextended a silumgar and took 11 to the face the next turn. Would have one the game if i had waited another turn or two to play him.
-Game 3: He gets in a decent amount of early damage by throwing spells at my face. Murk Lurker gets the life back easily. We end up going to turns and we just sit at a standstill. Unfortunate tie that should have ended in a win for me.
Board:
-1 Perilous Vault, -2 Crux of Fate, -1 Ugin, -1 Pearl Lake Ancient, -2 Hero’s Downfall
+4 Murk Lurker, +2 Negate, +1 Drown in Sorrow
Match 4 Jeskai Ascendancy Midrange? (2-0)
-Game 1: Again a turn 3 ashiok just takes the game away. Mantis Rider beat in over top and had the permission to back it up.
-Game 2: Almost the same as Game 1 but he was stuck on a three lands for a while. Beat down by his own dudes.
Board:
-1 Ugin, -1 Hero’s Downfall, -1 Perilous Vault, -1 Crux of Fate, -2 Drown in Sorrow
+4 Murk Lurker, +2 Negate
Match 5 Temur Midrange (0-2) ( Not sure what to board in here. May need to rework the board for this matchup)
Game 1: He just beats in to my face and there’s not much I can do. Every answer I had, there was another answer from him.
Game 2: Much similar. I managed to stabilize and was an upkeep away from playing and stabilizing with Ugin. Missed a chump block opportunity, and it came back to bite me.
Board:
-2 Drown in Sorrow, -2 Bile Blight,
+4 Murk Lurker.
All-in-all it was a great first run for this deck. A few misplays that did end up costing me the ID for first. But I’m still confident in this deck. I never won the die roll and the deck still managed to take down G1 fairly easily. So I’m happy with my first event with the list. A little more work and some tighter play and I Should be able to take down the FNM this week.

By the way for those of you who don't know, Pod is on the possible upcoming ban list in 2 days. prepare yourselves. The pro's are saying the deck would be too strong with t-cruise and DTT being banned. I hope wizards finds a way around this, or just ignores it, but however it goes i hope the best for all my fellow podders
Hey guy, I'm going to a PTQ on Saturday and this is the list that I think I'm going to sleeve up. The only cards that didnt make the first cut but i feel may need to be in the board are: Thragtusk, Lingering Souls, and either Memoricide/Surgical Extraction/Extirpate. I would love to have some feedback PLEASE!!
Well here's a list I brewed up with my bud. I'm personally a pod player, but I'm in need of expanding my colors. I've always had my eye on Geist. The list is cheeky, and I love it.
SO i've decided that i'm going to run a one of Ob Nixilis in the main. With greedy player playing 10-12 fetches chording for him is an easy decision. Plus being able to pod off a revillark for extra value is relevant enough. Persist also makes him bigger, and typically the mana isn't too terrible.
So i'm picking up legacy fish and i figured that i might as well have the modern conversion. So should i keep it Mono U, U/W or U/B. I want relevant reasons as to why/why you would or wouldnt choose an option. I like white for boardable answers such as PtE, Canonist, RIP and such. I also like black for Bob, and thoughtsieze comming out of board.
Thankns! And remember, i will not consider opinions, you must have reasonable facts..
So Ive got one spot left in the board, and I can't decide between obstinate baloth, and fulminater Mage. Or do I cut down to 2 Chord of Calling MD , move my reclamation sage to the md, and throwing both in the board?
SO if you were going to pick between running sun titan, and grave titan in the main or board... which would you choose? Both have sufficient pros to the deck. Grave keeps pumping dudes out, that can always start the chain. an Sun can allow for finks to keep chumping an dgrabbing abrupt decay or dismembers out of the yard.
So here is the new revamped 75. Has anyone thought about running a 6 drop this way the chain just doesnt end at revillark or shreikmaw md or sb?
thoughts were: Primeval Titan, Grave Titan,Ob Nixilis, Unshackled
