I think if you're not all in combo then yeah I think he for sure deserves some testing. Although I would be concerned about him exiling our things. He seems like the kind of walker you want 4 of always because of the way his +1 and -1 interact.
I agree with your assessment of Jace, Vyrn's Prodigy. I wouldn't go lower than 2 in any list, at least not until I see something that would suggest otherwise.
Id just like to give an update. I'm having terrible luck with this deck. I can't ******* win lol. I haven't won a round in two weeks and I don't know how. This deck isn't bad.
The thing I think I'm having most trouble with is the sideboard. What to take out but also just what to put in the board in the first place. Do we play more delirium things or just stick to the tried and true.
So here's a question to get some conversation started again: how come we don't run Vampire Hexmage out of the board as tutorable planeswalker removal?
Thats actually a pretty sweet idea haha. I hadn't thought of that before.
I was looking at Turbo Depths and the idea just kind of struck me. I suppose the answer is we run enough Maelstrom Pulses and Abrupt Decays to not waste a SB slot? But, the strength of the deck lies in the idea that we can tutor the creature we want, when we need it, and as far as I know, there's no other creature that has that effect, so it seems like an idea worth exploring?
Yeah I'm sure that's part of it. We also have cards like to the slaughter.
We have a lot of new tools for this deck since the last time people were posting. JTMS and maybe search for azcanta. Might make searching for those non creature bullets easier.
Long story short sultai is my favorite color combo but I was finishing abzan for modern, jtms got unbanned and here i am. To be honest, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here we go.
While I think your deck is a little bit different in the idea behind it compared to the delirium builds but there are many similarities. What are you looking for?
So I've got past experiences with domri vs jace in legacy, and BBelfing into domri.
If you can resolve a domri vs any form of control deck you win. Period. He is basically a ticking time bomb. I wouldnt dip below 28 creatures for him ever, agreed. But even missing with him and ulting him is enough to beat control. Hell, them scrambling to find some way to off him usually is enough of a window to win.
If jace control becomes a main stay force, he is probably a 2 of in the deck. As far as burn suite, I used to run 4 bolt, 3 helix, 2 path in my decks and that worked out just fine. The 2,2, 1 split on hate bears is my go to number as well. If I was to tweak the list it would be going up a domri, down a helix. I think 21 lands is correct. I always played it close with 20 lands, but I usually risk it for the biscuit, so I'm not suggesting it.
What would you go for on the last 3 drop slot?
Personally I'm loading up on Loxodon Smiters cause I'm expecting a lot of jund locally.
The card does seem good but the fact that you don't get to draw the cards makes it seem maybe not as good as careful consideration.
Has anyone ever played a deck like this that could maybe shed some light on how it works. Right now it just kind of seems all over the place and Idk how it could be consistent. Compared to something like Uwr or esper
Also no damnation or flaying tendrils in the sideboard. Had any issues with go wide?
