1. If you have a card that has an "enter the battle field" trigger, and you decide to exchange control of Perplexing Chimera and a creature spell that your opponent is casting, does the enter the battle field ability trigger? For example, if I have master biomancer, my opponent attempts to cast a creature spell, perplexing chimera ability triggers and goes on the stack and I decide to make the exchange. Does the creature spell that is now under my control comes into play with +x/+x counter on it due to master biomancer?
2. I know it says this in the rules for perplexing chimera, but if you exchange control of perplexing chimera
and a spell, and chose a creature you control with heroic as the new target, why doesn't this trigger the heroic ability for your creature? The rulles state "Gaining control of a spell and changing its targets won’t cause any heroic abilities of the new targets to trigger." but I do not understand why this is. For example, if I exchange control of my chimera and Titan's Strength, and I pick a creature such as favored hoplite as the new target, this will not trigger the creature heroic ability?
The Gatekeepers honestly aren't very good, and certainly not worth making your mana base suck. Shocks and scrys should be a priority. Also, your deck has a lot of bad cards and sideboard fodder. Almost all of your one-ofs need to get the axe or be upgraded to better cards with similar functions.
If you have suggestions for cards that should be taken out or replaced, please feel free to share (For example, what card would you upgrade to that you feel is better?). As for the gatekeepers, i think they are a little underrated. They have been able to turn a lot of games around, especially the Smelt-Ward Gatekeepers (It is basically Portent of Betrayal but instead of getting to scry 1 i get a creature).
Not new to magic, but also not a grand master wizard! Anyway, I have listed my current deck above, and I am looking for any insight that might help me improve it. The goal is to start off with some 1 drop creatures with death touch, get my gates out and play off of my gate keepers trigger abilities, and then use my higher mana cost creatures later on to do some heavy hitting and small combos.
Thanks and Yes, these are customized stock boxes (Unfortunately I do not have the skill level yet to put together a wooden box from scratch). As for the size I think it would really depend on what kind of deck you run. I am making these to fit the decks that I personally use, and I never have more than a 65-70 card deck so for me (using sleeves) I have not had any problem with the size. If, however, you wanted to use it for a commander deck where you will have at least 100 cards, then yes, it would be far to small unless you used it without card sleeves. On another note, I also went with these particular box sizes because they fit very nicely in your hand. While a bigger box could hold a larger deck, it also increases the size and weight and I wanted this to be something that could easily be carried around with little effort.
Finally finished my first custom made deck box!
The box is made out of wood, and made to look like an old leather book with some angelic imagery
it holds shut via a small magnet, and has a built in card/dice divider.
Hold around 70-75 cards in sleeves, or around 130 without sleeves.
Thanks!, I also made a customized cardback to put them on (with removable plastic cover to take them in and out of).
I am also working on a captain America/trooper crossover and a ghostbuster/trooper crossover.
Finally finished with my next one. Hope you guys like it.
Some things I would want your opinion on:
2. Should I have added more layers for the elf? I only had 2 layers for her and some parts intertwined with each other(i.e. the strand of hair in front of the ear which is over the back hair)
@john03016: I really liked your firstblade!
I would say if you can add some more lays to the elf it would probably look a little better. Maybe doing something with the ear, or the head/neck?
but even if you do nothing else I think you have already done a really good job on this one!(and thank you ^_^)
John - good choice with the firstblade. I was going to make him a red soldier token for the theros pre-release/release, I just didn't get to it. One thing you'll want to experiment with is 1) separating the head from the body and 2) the tongue effect. If you cut out the mouth around the teeth as the top layer, you can have the bottom layer act as a base for his tongue as well as the inside part of the mouth. Ill attach my beast token for your reference.
actually the head IS separated from the body, I guess it was a little lost in the photo (in case you can not tell, there are actually about 11 or 12 individually cut parts that make up his body, but a few of them are hard to spot unless you are looking at it first hand) , but I do like that tip about the tongue effect. Next time I do something where I can use it I will give it a try. Thanks
Thank you for the clarification, and thank you for keeping your answer short and to the point, it makes things much easier to understand that way.
