ob nixilis, unshackled for starts to punish them for daring to tutor. Personally I would change out plague wind for in garruk's wake. true they could still be regenerated however it get's rid of any/all pesky planeswalkers you don't control for the same cost. not sure if i would run ancient runes given your running a fair amount of artifacts yourself. possible add in cabal coffers or sadistic sacrament
Personally one of my favorite cards with Nekusar is Forced Fruition. forcing your opponents to draw 7 cards for every spell they play is just brutal with him. Price of Knowledge is good as well. Team them both with puzzle box and you have a hard hitter. Works for me anyway. of course you could always play elder mastery on nekusar...
yeah it's only for a one time use against people that have never seen it played and to have one or both of the counter's in your hand. unless your opponent plays many cheap removal it usually does fine. plus most of the time they never see it coming
bad in edh? maybe in general use yes however I have a deck based around kaho that works pretty well. Mana severance, evermind, mystical tutor, two counterspells of your choice I use counterspell and muddle the mixture and labratory maniac. the rest is land. 93 of them in fact. bring out kaho exile evermind, mystical tutor, and 1 counterspell. tutor mana severance play draw the other counterspell or maniac play maniac then evermind and troll the rest of the players that look at you like you've grown a second head or such
he did end up taking the norn which saw play nearly every game but the ulamog would have been a great card to pass my way... although i bought 6 packs pulled Splinter Twin, Tezzeret, Ulamog, eye of ugin, cryptic command and noble Hierarch so all together not to bad
during the release for MM15 a friend there had either the best luck or worst depends on how you see it. Same pack pulled ulamog, and a FOIL elesh norn. It just happened to be during the draft... kinda wish i sat next to him for that pass.
Personally, I'm a mix of all three. At the local game shop we have a group of people that are the same and depends on how we feel at the time. We know when it's time for fun and time for Serious gaming to occur. One thing is for certain though at some point in the game I'll be the guy that's got everyone playing looking at the board thinking "ok, what the heck just happened???" That's usually when I pull a victory.
Most of us have been playing for a while. Some of us such as myself have been playing magic since it's inception. Winning for most of us is just Icing on the cake so to speak. However I have noticed that a lot of the newer players do tend to take it way to serious. even in the competitive games the veterans don't take it to bad we just move on say good game and that's that. Maybe it's because we've been playing so long that we just don't care to much about winning. who knows.
Personally i'm partial to Maga, traitor to mortals with the amount of mana black can generate. add in attrition, grave pact, dictate of erebos and butcher of malakir and you get a lot of fun stuff. not sure if it fits the degenerate your looking for but still really fun in large play groups
I do believe he can it's one of the few ways around crawlspace and silent arbiter or other such cards. Kaalia just happens to be one of the few ways master of cruelties can attack with another creature. kaalia's effect i believe overrules them. but i could be wrong
