A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

Given my Cube is pretty low powered I am going to chuck this in over Harbinger of the Tides, a that card isn't seeing any play. This as an early wall that can flip organically or eats a spell but stops some early attacks or allows other things to live as your opponent sand bags removal whilst they watch it thaw is fine for me and my group. I really like the flavour and how the board state can potentially change based on this chunk of ice and whether it begins to melt. I don't have the highest hopes but also think it's cool enough to give it a shot.

If you can run this out and then sneak Gisela out somehow you are back to square one? seems good. Thumbs Down

I am going to test her over Dreadbore to see if it puts people in a Rakdos deck as Dreadbore doesn't and ends up in Jund/Grixis decks which is fine but I want to see how she plays out.

I think everyone is forgetting this card is a cheeky little devil. Risk, reward and all that stuff. I think it is great and it can take out Eldrazi Obligator since I tried forcing Eldrazi's into my Cube. Easy swap and this is pretty new territory, most people should be thinking about testing this card in their Cube, 360 and up I think. There are some good Red 3's but it isn't like Black 3's which is pretty stacked at the moment. I am sure everyone can find a cut somewhere and give this sneaky little guy a go.

I am very confidant this card is going to be a Cube staple for pretty much ever. Really jazzed about not having to force vampires into the Cube, they are just happening naturally. Super excited.

REALLY cool card! Love the design, artwork and think a lot of decks would like this. I run Xenagos as I support Gruul ramp primarily and run DL Atarka, which is a crowd favourite and also Bloodbraid Elf because the card is insane. If I had to swap something it would be Xenagos but he is the perfect fit for the design of the Cube vs a very good almost non specific card like Arlinn. If Gruul Ramp ever leaves the Cube she can come in for sure but fow now, man, the Gruul 4cc is stacked. Does Gruul have one of the best sections or one with the most competition now?

I have been waiting for something outstanding in Boros that wasn't Ajani Vengeant as I have previously steered clear of land destruction as my play group is relatively new players, however the play group is evolving and I am slowly introducing new mechanics and archetypes meaning Ajani Vengeant would be perfect. However, Nahiri does look pretty cool. The +2 could be pretty underwhelming unless you are pitching something to Karmic or Reveillark (or are playing Black), the -2 is somewhat conditional although I love the enchantment removal. The -8 could range from cool to you just win, depending on what is in your deck. Even free rolling Zealous Conscripts, stealing something and then doing it again hopefully next turn isn't the worst. Don't know if it screams ultimate but happens relatively quickly.

I may start with Nahiri and see how a Walker goes in this slot and then move up to Ajani Vengeant.

The full sized artwork on this is pretty stunning btw.

If this has Haste and the discarded card dealt damage to the face and didn't cost 1R, perhaps? Red Fives have a lot of really good options at 360-540 making this probably a flex slot for 540+ Cubes...that value average discard outlets.

I run Mortify, Utter End and Sorin LoI in my Orzhov section. Lingering sneaks around in the White section (shame on me). I recently purchased a Vindicate to replace one of the removal spells and now this new one can replace the other. I am fine for my Orzhov section to run multiple removal spells.

I have been loving this card. Lifelink stapled to a lot of solid Black cards recently has been fantastic. I am pretty aggressive with my use of Dark Confidant and love me a Bitterblossom/Vampiric Tutor so gaining some of that back with Liliana (and now Kalitas) is great.

Wow, this a is cool as I was just looking at my Selesnya section recently. I was running Fleecemane Lion, Voice of Resurgence and Mirari's Wake. I recently picked up a Kitchen Finks and cut Fleecemane Lion. I also had a discussion with my group about Voice of Resurgence as it wasn't seeing too much play. I showed them Qasali Pridemage and they all jumped it. I have been lacking in artifact/enchantment removal and this guy does double duty, attacks big and kills stuff. Based on that, I am cutting Voice of Resurgence.

I build more for what my group is drafting and I always try and update the Cube to include a flavour from whatever the current set it. Whilst I don't think Avacyn replaces any of the top tier 5 drops in White, Cloudgoat can sit out for a bit while this comes in mainly because it isn't drafted much even though tokens is pretty well supported.

I don't think too many are on the fence about Reflector Mage, but if you are I think he is worth it. Sphinx's Revelation made way for the Mage recently in my 360 leaving Geist and Verdict. I got to play Reflector and he was great every time, leaves behind a good body and provides great tempo. Was really hoping to pick up a Resto Angel etc for value but even as a one time use and then a blocker/attacker, great.

Oath of Nissa was main decked and the player really enjoyed this card in an Abzan build. Bearer of Silence has some great outings and a terrible one against a tokens deck but overall was good. The other OGW inclusions either weren't in the pool or were taken by people not in those colours.

Just checking in to see how everyone is going with the inclusions from OGW, in particular the colourless "package". For me, I run a 360 list, cuts can also be made, so there are not issues in there, in fact I have it all mapped out on how to include some the better ones, like:

    Kozilek, the Great Distortion
    Reality Smasher
    Thought-Knot Seer
    Matter Reshaper
    Dimensional Infiltrator
    Bearer of Silence
    Eldrazi Obligator
    Vile Redeemer
    Eldrazi Displacer
    Mirrorpool
    Sea-Gate Wreckage

I guess I want to gauge the longevity on these? This is a pretty big update to a small Cube to almost add in an extra colour. I go and spend money on all the new Eldrazi's at an inflated price, swap out lands (probably Temples) to include the Pain Land cycle (which is probably a good call anyway) to accommodate all of them only to find it doesn't quite work.

I draft a 4 person each week, so we see 50% of the Cube each time so we will only ever see a few each week, no one will be building a Devoid deck or anything, probably just picking up a Thought-Knot etc, grabbing a Pain or two, perhaps a mana rock and chucking a Waste or two in to be able to cast it.

Is anyone in a similar spot and unsure whether they can support this change? I love changing up my Cube so I kinda just wanna go for it, maybe that is my answer. Either way, keen to hear what others have to say? Are these cards a long term staple for years to come or has it been a little clunky etc.
