Got in another draft last night. Doomskar solid. Usher of the Fallen was in a 3-0 selesnya deck. Firja's Retribution last pick in the pack. Think I am done testing it.
The changeling effect of masked vandal came up twice in funny situations that weren't expected. One time saving its controller from being killed by a flipped Thing in the Ice while it counted as a horror. The other time backfired and stopped its controller from creating snakes with their Ophiomancer! lol
Stuff like this is why I can't cut Mirror Entity. I love little interactions like that.
Well it's easily the best card in the set across peasant, budget, and really everything. But I'm still not excited for it whatsoever. It's just another great Savannah Lions variant after all.
This is how I feel. It's the only card in the set I plan to add, but it's just not a high priority. It's not like white weenie will improve so drastically or it enables a whole new archetype or anything.
That's a good catch. I've been running Good-Fortune Unicorn for this same reason. I don't think this card is going to push it out though. It comes down a couple turns later, plus the persist combo decks tend to not run blue, and this is UU. I think, even with the combo interaction, this is going to feel as underwhelming as Clever Impersonator did.
This exact card exists for 1 mana less just without the lord bonus. That card is much better than this in my eyes even with the more green intensive cost and is still not even close to making it into my cube.
This doesn't feel very dangerous at all to me. The floor is Exploration, draw a card, your opponent draws an additional card at the end of each of their turns. I could see situations where you still want to play this even knowing your opponent will take the crown.
No. You would have to play this before the search effect is executed. While the spell (or ability) is on the stack. Once they're already in the middle of executing the search, you don't have priority to cast this, so it won't be in play when they're searching.
Okay thanks. I had a feeling that was the case or others would obviously have pointed out my idea. That does take somea lot of the fun out of this card, honestly but maybe it's still worth it. A splashable 3/4 Flash for 3 does have a decent floor in most cube decks I can imagine no matter what happens...
Still got people in here running Disenchant over Nature's Chant. SMDH.

In terms of castability, GGG is pretty comparable to 3G. It's a both are "occasionally on turn 3, usually by turn 4".
That said, I agree, I don't think either of these cards is good enough.
I didn't catch this until you pointed it out. It's not the "except the first card each turn" wording like on Narset, it's actually better.

It's a 3/2
