Dark Confidant is a very peculiar card. Despite its perceived power level, it only promotes a very specific play style. You need cards that cheap, obviously. But you also need cards that ends the game quickly, since you can only flip so many cards from him before he kills you. Cards like Lightning Bolt and Tarmogoyf are ideal for Bob. Abzan Junk doesn't play him because they are a grindy deck while Jund is better at ending the game quickly, if for no other reason than Lightning Bolt. Cheap cost cards that are also threatening and proactive at ending the game sooner rather than later.
He also pairs poorly with Delve, which is a new big favorite keyword of the format.
Not to derail the thread but I have been looking for a good esper deck for a while. Do you have the esper suiside deck list?
I have been thinking about this card and I prefer a land hate deck.
Boom/bust, darkdwellers, restoangel, avalanch riders, the fliker eldrazi, bolt, and somr low end cards
Sorry for spelling and nit linking cards I am on my phone so it's to hard to do so.
I feel that dispel will be better than godswilling in most cases since most removal is instant, and neither stops lili edict. This really leaves karn and anger, how often do you play barrower and pass?
Hamlin- I feel that many players are under the impression you must play blue to be interactive. That is some logic I have seen which I don't agree with. Another reason people think b/g isn't interactive is because it's proactive not reactive.
I feel that b/g is a proactive interactive deck but others want Interactive reactive decks
Recently there was an article on tgcplayer about a black red eldrazi deck. Itlooked like you may be able tweek it into a monoblack MUDstyle deck. Using hand disruption to stop them early, artifacts to stop combo, and eldrazi to win.
I suggest you see how much blue is really giving the deck from what I see it does very little.
Abrupt decay should be included
Perhaps life from the loam, raven's crime, ghos quarter techedge package has a place.
20 lands is very few also.
Gnaw should be a side board card
