The thing you’re missing here is that it doesn’t just remove the card, it turns it into a land. You can literally turn your opponents commanders into a land and it doesn’t go back to the command zone.
bro... i nominate you for necromancer of the decade...

Don't really see an issue with talking about Song of the Dryads in a thread dedicated to talking about Song of the Dryads, rather than making an entirely new thread whenever you want to talk about a card
after a decade of no posts previous discussion is most likely outdated due to sheer amount of cards printed and rules changes. and necroing post is formulated as an answer to previous post not separately added information. there is no point to make people read such old posts to follow the flow of conversation.

Well this is the wrong forum area. But one factor is they are practically refuse to make any cards that remove poison counters from yourself (in other words leeches is likely the only one that will ever exist)

akshually you can -14 karn as well... Grin

btw requesting to move thread to proper forum section!

Not sure what is the purpose of this. I know from experience that since casting is now optional, it mostly enable douche players from claiming you missed your trigger if you draw your card, since the time counters are removed during upkeep. That will be the one major difference it makes. Enable douches.
i fail to see how pointing out missed trigger would be considered douche. intentionaly witholdig information about trigger your opponent missed is also infraction so there is no incentive to do so.

Aren't this card just for fun and illigal in every play mode? I thought that only some wotc staff get the cards.

sheldon Menery said the cards are legal in commander for the people who own the card(s).

According to MTG Wiki this is only half true.

    From MTG Wiki:
Since these cards don't have the regular Magic card back, they aren't legal in any format but the Commander Rules Committee has made an exception for Commander if the person playing the card is the person whose name is on that card.[6]

The person receiving the card is noted in the right corner above the legal text "TM & C Wizard of the Coast" or under the power and toughness.

i mean I woundn't stop anybody to play those cards if they own them for some reason...
twitter posts are not mtg rules so those cards are not legal anywhere.
otoh i see no reason to stop anyone from playing them if every player agrees.

Finally get an energy commander and it's in the ******* Fallout set... and not temur...

    Lol i thought the same.
This is also the first proper jeskai artifact commander and it's a ******* UB

I guess Tetzin, Gnome Champion isn't proper enough?
Tetzin is very parasitic with the whole "double faced artifact" mechanic. the deck builds itself but perhaps it's still interesting since dfcs are underutilised. the worst part is you will need to unsleeve-sleeve the cards sooooo often... and there is double the amount of text on dfcs.

i have no idea why ub would be inherently something bad. get an alter if you want different fluff part of the card. it's not like you will play sanctioned competitive events with it.

The art on the Malcolm SL is so bad. Why is every single art in MTG featuring real people look so sub par? The Tasigur version is especially not good.
i think the artists wotc hires are not experienced in drawing real people, especially in portrait depictions of real people. but this seems to be general "issue" with contemporary artists working on popular content - not a lot of them is working with realistic depictions these days.

i like the wormhole art style but i'm not going to buy it for cards that i already have multiples and are worth very little compared to what they ask.

Tomb Raider is kind of a dead IP in my mind so I'm a little surprised they'd go for it. Then again they did Ponies again. They really could just throw anything out there at this point. Garbage Pail Kids? Rygar? The Rolling Stones?
It's the 10th anniversary of the reboot games. These SLs almost always align with some anniversary.
yes, mtg turned into billboard with ads for other ips. unfortunatelly mtg characters are spread so thinly that they would be unrecognizable when brought into other ips so this works only one way. Frown

    Going a hair off subject

apparently some people may be jumping the gun on something

when They said changing “totem armor” to “umbra armor” did it involve removing/stop using the word “Totem” from cards names as well

apparently People think cursed totem is in a way being added to the persudo reserve list because the of the word “totem” in the card.

I mean, that's the logical conclusion, yes.
nothing is stopping them from reprinting the same catd with different name since the original is not on rl in the first place. but i do not exactly follow the logic of why change affecting totem in totem armor would have any effect on totem in cursed totem. are they saying that the whole word has some unwanted conotations? if so why it does not the same treatmen as crusade?

remember the schedule we got at gencon? the one after showing which everyone was so amazed about how open wotc is about their release plans? well i remember. but it was bull*****.

They said a few times that this wasn't the full schedule as they where finalizing some stuff and wanted to wait for a few others to be announced closer to 2025/2026.
makes sense. this means there will be at least 7 sets released 2025. that is a lot. and i assume there will be secondary products surrounding each of those.

also if the second image is accurate there will be multiple marvel sets so it is reasonable to expect another one in 2026.

Ah, I see. Amazon just dropped information about release date for Fallout show.

Dates of this first look at the set and amazons' reveal obviously coincides as well as the dates of set and series release. Prepare to be assaulted by increasing amounts of advertisement for fallout products as the dates approach.

    PS
For those who prefer dates to be presented in non-confusing way this is 12th April 2024.

    Too...many...cards!

    *wrings brain in agony*
Just do what I plan to, read the cards, appreciate the new designs, then bury them in the Mojave Desert forget about them until next February. You're not an LGS, you don't need this information yet.
even that is becoming increasingly hard to do. cards have more and more text on them and the UB ones are hard to parse since they need to accommodate some other IP, they need squeeze the fluff into them to make them evoke the IP in question. and also they contain references to persons, places etc that i have no frame of reference. eg i do not watch dr who and i had to give up on reading up full spoiler after a dozen of cards or so. i was exhausted. the fact that collector numbers are going into four digits now does not help either.

  • posted a message on Draft Boosters and Set Boosters are being replaced by Play Boosters

There have been too many types of booster for a while now. Honestly the only thing I don't like is the drop to 14 cards. Just give us an extra common! One of the things this will do is make commons less... common. So the really good ones will go up in cost.
It's the main advantage from my pov. I would welcome even more reduction in product variety, although not at the cost of price increase.

ETA: "May contain booster fun" buddy I will tell you whether or not this booster contains fun
This seriously reads like allergen disclaimer on foods. "May contain eggs and peanuts."

If it was actually cool I would even like it, but these cookbooks are just an assortment of regular funky-named stuff or "Omg look, these spaghetti are black. Necromancers!"

Of course, it's incredibly hard to come up with actually good original dishes, so I guess this would always be out of scope for franchise-based cookbooks.
i don't think they are meant to be original dishes. it's rather just a coffe table book that is suposed to be browsed and invoke warm feelings that they found something that evokes spirit of particular guild, character etc. with cheesy name. not actual cookbook.
from the screens it seemsvlike they have some amout of flavor (pun intended), could have done better but also could have done much worse.

My reading of (portions of) the Dungeons and Dragons cookbook told me that it is a cookbook first and a flavour source second (hopefully 1.5th) - i.e. every recipe must make sense and must produce edible results.

I want my Mario cookbook to give me a recipe for Piranha Plant stew and my Kirby cookbook to give me a recipe for Fried Maxim Tomatoes, but I understand if neither recipe actually includes Piranha Plants or Maxim Tomatoes. What matters to me is that the recipe gives edible results, sounds like it comes from in-universe, and does not sound like it could have come from any other franchise.

But it's not a cookbook if none of the recipes produce anything edible.
oh, of course they have to be edible. we don't want mario cookbook to describe dish made out of fly agaric. Smile but recipes don't have to be something only 5 star restaurant would serve.
