I thought there would be way more activity on here since the banning. I'm not sure why people think it's a bad thing for Jund though? If someone can try and explain that to me? Affinity is a fine matchup if that rises again. We can tune to a heavier burn meta. Pulse of Murasa is a surprisingly playable card

And if we're expecting whir and affinity and hardened scales, Night of Souls' Betrayal looks really good, honestly. It's also good against dredge - makes the only relevant threats into 4 2/2's which is beatable. Against spirits it's nice, too. They have a lot of mopey creatures. Not great against humans, but not sure which I'm expecting more of right now between that and spirits as the disruptive aggro deck of the format

I've never been sold on Ishkanah. I'd rather play Pia and Kiran for a similar effect at a lower mana cost and a more relevant ability. People already bring in some grave hate against us

Pulse of Murasa is an "expensive" card CMC-wise for a matchup that gets done in a hurry. If we were worried about Burn, I think we should play more Collective Brutality and move on with life.

Night of Souls' Betrayal is great at stopping those decks' common mode of winning (via x/1's), but it doesn't win the game and can still be played around. I would rather play Kalitas to shut down the modular triggers instead (as well as Hangarback Walker's trigger). Even then, those decks can still outpace you fairly easily even when they're on the draw.

I must be the only Jund pilot who isn't cheering the KCI ban. To me, it's almost as bad as the Splinter Twin ban for Jund's win percentages.

Nice list. How have you liked running Settle the Wreckage with Kaya's Wrath? I feel like those two cards didn't necessarily want to be in the same deck.

That... actually seems amazing against Spirits. Ishkanah still has better upside because the delirium ability still makes Reflector Mage a little weaker.

That makes no sense to me because UW control has been having a harder time than Jeskai.

The format is getting increasingly linear and is somewhat hostile to Lightning Bolt in small ways. The fact that a lot of UW pilots are having a hard time tells me that I'd rather have Bolt than not. Terminus was great when everyone laid all their cards on the table by turn 2. That's not the case any more. The name of the game is resiliency. Phoenix decks get the explosive draws while being able to navigate a longer game if necessary. Their ability to sideboard between aggression and the controlling end of midrange gives it a lot of flexibility too. The other decks that are rising due to this don't make for a suitable UW control environment at all imo (Amulet Titan, Shadow decks). Jeskai has some game just because it has Lightning Bolt. Terminus and, more importantly, Rest in Peace are really nice sometimes, but that deck has such a difficult time closing out games against decks that aren't GBx. I gotta say that personally just adding Rest in Peace to my Jeskai sideboard has been good enough for me to not want to go to UW control.

Random sidenote: Whatever happened to Jex (I'm not even sure that's the correct handle)?

I don't know about all that. There have been several lists just from the last two or three months that did just fine without Terminus. I doubt Seth Manfield and company on the Pro Tour play badly tuned decks. It's also been doing fine on the SCG Tour as well.

Secure the Wastes seems questionable. It's not really good against anything right now.

PimpDonny used to play Jeskai and Esper control religiously on twitch.tv. Maybe he uploads videos on youtube as well? I doubt it though since he's usually playing music.

Real talk ladies and gents: Is Ishkanah actually decent? I'm starting to see it more often in the sideboard of competitive Jund decks. I didnt think it was but maybe I'm missing something.

I keep running into linear decks. Giving those types of decks a land seems terrible in almost every case. I'm also seeing less control than before. Even when I do, I find that two Trophy is fine.

Anyone here tested Jund and Rock ? Any feedback on that ?
My MTGO leagues results are pretty average with Jund (42-45) so i guess it's a fair reason to test Rock now, anything to help me (and us) to think about that ?
By the way do you think, even if player is experimented with BGX, he have to switch on other archetype ?

There are times when I recognize that I could gain percentage points by jumping ship to another deck, but I know my decks. It's why I just continue to adjust for the metagame with my deck and just accept that my bad matches aren't going to significantly get better. If I were playing this game professionally, I think that's a less than ideal choice.

If you say so. Grixis Shadow, Bant Spirits, KCI, and Humans still seem to be trucking along. The only ones I could reasonably say have died down are Jeskai and Jund. Even then, UW control also seems to be on a downtick. I think what you're seeing is just a rise in linear decks.

The light of hope is growing really dim for this archetype, which is saddening me greatly.

In other news, I'm hoping there are going to be cards with Spectacle that Jund could make use of. Spectacle as a mechanic has some promise.

Well, I look at things differently. As more and more threats and answers enter Modern, what I see is a move from 3 to 2 color decks: Jeskai splitting into UW Control for hard control and some UR Control for Bolt-Snap-Bolt and/or Combo finishers, while Jund is becoming BG Rock thanks to the power of Assassin's Trophy, or even GR Blood Moon aggro. Mardu Pyromancer is one card away from becoming a 2 color deck (a BR replacement for Lingering Souls).

BG Rock =/= Jund. Not even close.
