I would really like to have Seething Song back. It was only really too good in storm, and storm has had abyssmal showings lately. Song could put the deck back on the map

why the theros hate? its a great limited/standard set

glad nothing was banned. didnt need to be

things could always be unbanned but i think they are going to wait a littlr longer and maybe test out sotm and grave troll first in r&d before coming to a conclusion

played storm in a four round event tonight

match 1: rug twin

g1 i kill quick

g2 i kill quick

match 2: goblins

g1 he plays goblin guides and legion loyalists and gets me down to 8 life. i combo and make 16 goblin tokens but he plays lightning bolt + goblin bomb for the win

g2 i make a bunch of tokens but he plays legion loyalist so i cant block his team

match 2: mono black infect

g1 he has too many creature kill spells, and i can pay as much life as i need to since he kills with poison. easy

g2 win turn 4. he didnt realize cage shuts off past in flames so he forgets to side it in

match 4: esper

this deck plays liliana, confidant, tidehollow sculler, meddling mage, revoker.

g1: try to combo off but am 1 mana short of winning. he kills with geist

g2: land a turn 2 blood moon and he scoops

g3: he plays inquisitions and thoughtseizes but i land ascension. make 18 goblins and attack. he casts zealous persecution to wipe my board. second main phase i combo out again and kill with grapeshot

love playing storm. i dont have fetches - waiting for the reprints

That is basically a slightly worse Duress with Scry, isn't it? Usually the preferred text is "instant or sorcery" instead of nonpermanent - being more specific means less confusion to players. Duress is already a cube staple, so I'm not really excited by a worse one that occasionally helps Reanimator. I do like the idea of combining discard with card draw/filtering, which has been a Dimir thing since Invasion (Probe being one of my favorite older cards):

but i think my discard spell is good too. scry 2 is quite powerful

my theory is that getting your spell "forced" in modern will be such an unexpected and unlikely event my opponent will concede out of respect

I would be ok with chrome mox. Storm wouldn't play it, and it would help boost ad nauseum and hive mind up a tier.

I suppose splinter twin would play it but like I said I wouldn't mind a twin ban so we can unban stuff like chrome mox and ancestral vision

This is a hoser to storm in modern/legacy, not a cube card.

It would be super sad to see Death's Shadow in the banlist. I don't think it is worth banning as much as unbanning Splinter Twin or Stoneforge Mystic. Banning the card Death's Shadow itself would be nothing short of incompetence and taking steps backwards in regards of format health and player trust. The DS strategy is powerful and as efficient as it gets in Modern. It doesn't win on T3 and goldfished T4 kills are against decks that many people hate playing against(like Tron and Valakut). It punishes you for trying to play solitaire and not caring about the board. As a bonus, it rewards you for playing boat loads of removal and powerful finishers like Planeswalkers.

My take is: Let's instead give it one more round to prove itself worthy of remaining as a viable strategy in Modern and unban Stoneforge Mystic to compensate and push a little more reactive decks. They can easily deal with her via Kolaghan's Command and even Tarfire if well timed. She will bring a new angle of attack and super interesting gameplay with the nowhere-to-be-seen Swords. Finally, it serves as an incentive to play control decks too(especially blue decks) even if Eldrazi and Abzan could potentially abuse her even more. That added with a good blue answer or CA spell and the format could be pretty well balanced.
