Pretty neat, and perfect for an Orzhov deck using things like Teysa. Need tokens, get tokens. Need Phyrexian Arena, get cards. Obviously inspired by the Siege enchantments, so it suggests some sort of plane with a power struggle between angels and demons.

In light of the recent Commander rules changes:

    Consign to Memory 1WU
    Instant
Put target attacking creature on the bottom of its owner's library.
If that creature would be put into the command zone instead, treat it as though it has been cast two additional times this game. (Commander cards cost an additional 2 for each time they have been cast this game.)

1B: Creatures you control gain lifelink until end of turn. Activate this ability only if your life total is less than your starting life total.

  • posted a message on Theros musings and saving Elspeth.
Just idly musing about what could happen on Theros following the deaths of Xenagos and Elspeth. I don't keep very good track of the actual written stories, so there could be some contradictions to what we already know did or did not happen (specifically if Ajani already has another destination in mind). I don't like the death of Elspeth, and this is my head canon until we revisit the plane and I can be proven otherwise.

Rescuing someone from the pits of the underworld is a well-established archetype of myths, and we even have Rescue from the Underworld showing that exact sort of flavor in Theros. It would be risky, but the underworld of Theros is a place that can conceivably be reached by the living, and can ultimately be returned from. Ajani already followed Elspeth all the way to Theros in the first place and helped her fight a god, and it's not unthinkable for him to go the extra mile and try to save her after her untimely back-stabbing at the hands of Heliod.

The whole ordeal with Xenagos has rocked the foundations for what a "god" really is on Theros, and the remaining pantheon is more wary about the strength of the mortal world. Ajani approaches Erebos ready to fight for Elspeth, and Erebos proposes a deal rather than risking his life in combat against someone who has already helped to dispatch a god. This deal can be any sort of typical strings-attached deal with the devil like your old Disney Hercules if you life, in which Erebos gives Ajani the chance to go in and save Elspeth, but never actually expects him to return alive.

Meanwhile, faith in Heliod is shaken due to his actions. His own champion is dead by his hands, and his followers are doubting him.

Ajani isn't so easily dealt with, and in true mythical-hero fashion he ascends from the pits of the underworld not as a zombie but as a god, shining brightly as he carries Elspeth out in his arms. Like the dawn of a new day, Ajani crests the horizon and usurps Heliod's position as a god of the rising sun, a symbol of new beginnings and the setting of the previous sun.

The leonin of Theros, having previously lost their faith in the gods, readily bad together beneath Ajani just as they did before.

It's a regrettable fact that Ajani is not one of the most popular planeswalkers in the game. From a mechanical point of view, this gives new purpose to Ajani as a god card rather than a planeswalker in much the same way that Xenagos changed. Elspeth is returned better than ever after some recovery. Some balance is created in Theros as the leonin now have their god representative, much like the gorgons, tritons, minotaurs, and centaurs all do. As for the fate of Heliod, he could be cast as part of the new set of villians, or be sent down some sort of path of humility or even mortality.

Of course, this is all just silly head canon musing. Just something interesting that I was thinking about.

Well the dragon kind of only costs 6cmc, since you get two back, but you still won't be casting it for quite a while. Unless you're playing nothing but tiny spells before hand, it would take a really long time to ever get use out of the doubling effect as well, so I'm not sure if anyone would want to invest the effort. I think there are much more appealing options once you've got that much mana in a green deck.

Here's a thing made with rummaging/looting in mind:

    Fleeting Brilliance 1UR
    Enchantment
Whenever an instant or sorcery card is put into your graveyard from anywhere, you may cast that card for its mana cost reduced by 2. If you do, exile it after it resolves.

The 1-damage ability seems fairly irrelevant when it already deals damage whenever it's hit by something. I would put it at 4cmc, as a first striking Spitemare that only hits creatures.

    Statue of Limitations 5
    Artifact
At the beginning of your upkeep, choose one:
-Until your next upkeep, players can only cast one spell each turn
-Until your next upkeep, creatures with power 3 or more can't attack
-Until your next upkeep, players can't gain life

At the beginning of your upkeep, put X 1/1 blue Illusion creature tokens onto the battlefield, where X is the number of creatures you control. They have "When this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it."
Sacrifice a creature: ~ deals 1 damage to target creature or player.

Well there's only like one Prism token ever, so yay for taking liberties!

    Osteohedron 3B
    Creature - Skeleton Prism
    Defender
Whenever a creature dies, put a +1/+1 counter on Osteohedron.
When Osteohedron dies, put X 0/1 black Prism creature tokens named Osteotrops onto the battlefield. Those tokens have "Whenever a creature attacks you, this deals 1 damage to that creature."

    - This causes everyone to instantly lose when playing EDH, is that intended? It would most certainly instantly would be banned. One way to fix it would be to have it based on starting life instead.

This. Any effect based on a specific life total becomes potentially broken in Commander (Serra Ascendant, Divinity of Pride, Felidar Sovereign, etc). As said above, the safest way is to have it be along the lines of "When a player has 10 or more life than his or her starting life total..." It's a bit clunky, but it helps prevent games from just ending in the first 3 turns or so.

+2: ~ deals damage to target creature equal to the number of cards in your hand. If that creature would be put into a graveyard this way, exile it instead.

-7: ~ deals damage to each opponent and each creature you don't control equal to the total power of all creatures exiled by it. Exile all creatures that would be put into a graveyard this way.

I don't know if you wanted a white walker that does tribal elemental stuff, or a walker that would itself be an elemental like how Tamiyo is "a moonfolk planeswalker." I'm going with the latter.

    Nariae, the Eternal Light 2WW
    Planeswalker - Nariae
+2: Until your next turn, if a source would reduce ~ to less than 1 loyalty, it reduces it to 1 instead.
-2: Exile target creature card from a graveyard, then put a token that is a copy of that creature onto the battlefield under your control. That token is a Spirit in addition to it's other types.
-6: You get an emblem with "Spirit creatures you control have indestructible and lifelink."
    [2]

(Alternatively, replace "spirit" with "elemental" :P)
