Just did a $1200 collection sale--these guys were awesome. Very quick, and the best price I was quoted. Highly recommended.

I do love Narset but I'm going to be running her as a 1 of in the MB replacing the 2nd copy with Ugin, which was previously missing from my list. Now the question is how many in the SB. I think she's valuable in almost all grindy midrangy matchups, so bringing in a full 3 may be reasonable, but I could see it just being 2 total. I really do like her in the mirror, but only if you're prepared to protect her against Silumgar or simply let her go against Downfall. She's just not a "slam her on turn 4" play the way Jace, AOT was.

I've also got a Jeskai control/burn list where she is much more effective, but it's not the better control deck, and I'm not sure if it's better than tokens. Narset's real time to shine may still be sometime down the road.

With the mono-red menace looking to be on a major upswing, should we be looking at Nyx-Fleece Ram in the SB again?

It was risky but he had a caryatid & courser, 1 more land and he was in pretty good shape. Going to 5 against a thoughtsieze deck seems equally, if not more risky.

Tough call, Reid had to know he was rolling the dice there and that it might not work out.

    Looks awfully cartoony.

Nitpicking that he can't exile colorless permanents is silly considering Vault is the only relevant colorless card I can think of in Standard.

Morphs and Manifests are colorless. That is the issue.

Heir is at least still decent after turn 2, but Seeker really isn't.

Have to disagree with this. Seeker seems innocent enough, but prowess means you can't ever really block him with a caryatid, and the lifegain is relevant. Even blocking him with a courser is risky. This turns him into a lightning rod for your removal, as you can't just let him go unchecked. That is removal you're not using on a Rabblemaster or Mentor. Seeker is a pesky little bastard, and I think he's actually highly underrated.

Not a good topdeck in the late game, but if Jeskai/RW has gone late it is probably losing anyway.

Hey folks, been interested in this deck for a while. I should have pinned him down but a guy at my LGS tonight at a Grand Prix Trial was playing a version of this deck with 4x Mastery of the Unseen and at least 1 Archangel of Thune. I believe he said he was playing it without either Martyr or Proclamation but I can't remember which. I know that's not a lot to go on, but can anyone make sense of what his list might have been? He went at least 3-x and might have won the whole thing but I went 0-2 drop with my lowly UWR Midrange deck.

Deck seemed super sweet, & I thought someone more familiar with the strategy might be able to figure out his basic approach if not the exact decklist.

Thanks & I'll try to keep up with the thread from here!

It's never really going to break through at the competitive level, but it is an underrated card. Sorcery speed hurts it the most.

I ran a couple in the SB of my mono-blue devotion deck last season, along with ratchet bomb for a 1 sided sweeper. Also combos nicely with Battlefield Thaumaturge.

So how do we feel about Myth Realized? Seems like a nice fit into the deck, effective as a cheap beater that scales through the game at best, perhaps Liliana protection for Geist at worst.

    LOL

Anybody else noticing a serious uptick in token decks on MTGO? Might just be me hitting some weird variance but in the past few days I've played against several versions of BW, Abzan and Esper. One guy polymorphed a souls token into an Emrakul, which was fun.

So, aside from that blowout, Engineered Explosives has obviously been a powerhouse in these matchups, but getting buried under so many tokens has me a little flummoxed. I'm considering adding an Aetherspouts to the SB if the meta continues to evolve this way, as without a wrath effect they put a huge amount of pressure on us. It might be one thing if they were all 1/1s, but Intangible Virtues and even Gavony Township now are making these token army's very difficult to deal with. Just a trend I've been noticing, that we will want to watch as we are somewhat vulnerable to it.

Severely overrated card. Far too conditional to be reliable, might see fringe play in Standard, but it's just another not-good-enough counter in Modern.

Would this deck ever consider biting the bullet and running a couple of Dissolve? Or at least some number of maindeck Counterflux?

I know a 3 mana counter isn't good in the format, but were bending over backwards talking about playing conditional counters over mana leaks. Maybe a 2/2 split so your topdeck counterspells aren't just dead late game. I dunno. I'll probably be roasted for it, but I really hate mana leak and am not unconvinced that 1 more mana wouldn't be worth it.

This card is terrible for the Modern meta. Yeah, Burn needed to get even better.

    Sigh...
