Ever since the ‘Curse’ thing, it never seemed quite the same.
I mean, didn’t look the same, but it wasn’t just that.
Anyway, including my old account on the old site, I’ve been on here for years. It’s been great (especially earlier).
Will miss it.
So, there will always be superior choices for a given deck type, strategy, build, whatever. Always have been.
If you didn’t want that to be the case, you would have to look at different games, or make one.
Okay, I wish*, but seriously, Elspeth.
* Then again, hell no, not as part of the god forsaken Gatewatch. Would just love Serra to be around, doing things, that’s all.

Whatever it takes - saving, trading, selling your soul - will be worth it.
Try to avoid too many double-/triple-mana costs, at least until your mana base is perfect (and yes, this means a bunch of fetches, for 3-colour Modern decks, in general.) More fetches is most definitely another thing to work towards. Their value in play can hardly be overstated, especially for most 3+ colour decks.
Otherwise, looks like a nice deck. Just keep testing and optimising, and you should do fine.
It doesn’t have to be an easy or simple combo or wincon. And tutors should be included minimally, if at all, assuming you want ‘casual’ play at all.
Otherwise, yeah, what you described in the OP is what generally happens.
edit: The flipside, of course, is that all players - or most, perhaps - will want to have some relevant disruption available to them, in case some combo/wincon randomly comes up real early. But hey, quality disruption is always nice to have, so...
MtG used to be quite embarrassing at times, what with all those dodgy poses, T&A popping out left and right, ‘come hither’ expressions (and worse), etc.
Personally, I’m all for more women being portrayed as strong, capable, independent. Rather than as sex objects. Not to say ‘sexy’ is always a bad thing to show (of course not!) Context and basic respect will still matter though.
KCI? LOL
For Humans matchups, black and red are both good choices.
UR, in fact, would be my choice, for 2-colour ‘control’, vs. Humans.
