People need to understand this also boosts your devotion to white. I think it will be played, it's good.

It also requires you to run mountains, which means you must be dual or tri color which hurts your devotion to white.

I get that it's enchant mountain for flavor, but it would have been so much more playable if it had been enchant land you control. As is, the card just seems way too narrow. it's only playable in boros, is sorcery speed and is vulnerable to two different types of removal one of which results in a two for one.

I agree with you though. This card is good, only in boros though (and still just barely good)

Is anyone else as bothered as I am that only 1 of the five promos is a legend. It seems strange to me...

I didn't mean to make it sound like I think this card is bad in limited or that repeatable lifegain is bad. I was just saying I don't know how good it will be. I was trying to think of it in terms of worst case scenarios (other than scenarios where NOTHING would help). I was trying to think how it would do if you're getting beaten down. Not that you're dead or that you have no outs, but you're just on the back foot and you draw this. In that situation, the lifegain probably isn't going to cut it. Also, if 95% of the fliers in the set have >2 toughness, again this won't be as useful. And, if you're in a defensive position the deathtouch ability doesn't help.

Just to be clear, I don't really believe this is the correct way to evaluate a card in a vacuum, since many cards won't win you a losing game. I was just saying that I'm not sure how good this will be yet.

All very true, but this card is still going to be very good. If you are not actively losing, this card will probably win you the game. Do you think that 95% is a remotely realistic figure? That would mean that if there are 20 fliers, only one would have two or less toughness. Somehow I doubt this. I'd bet at least half of the fliers have two or less toughness (in draft or sealed anyway where commons make up the largest portion of the environment) With so many abilities, at least one is going to be very handy. Something as simple as getting through with bears or trading your bears for your opponents centaurs could be enough to win a game. This card is good.

Too similar to that one innistrad land I think.

I do think Devotion on a land is a pretty good idea.

It was just the first ability to come to mind. Anything could work though.

perhaps a better card would be

    for example:

    RU land

    etb tapped

tap: add U or R to your mana pool

while your devotion to blue and red is 7 or higher, RU land gains 1RUTap: return target instant or sorcery card from your graveyard to your hand. (each U or R in the mana costs of permanents you control counts toward your devotion to blue and red)

Although maybe this ability would be to powerful

I'm not sure if anyone has brought up this idea yet, so i'm just going to throw it out there.

    Devotion Dual lands

Which would be something that gains an ability or something when you have achieved a certain amount of devotion to both colors

    for example:

    RU land

    etb tapped

tap: add U or R to your mana pool

while your devotion to blue and red is 7 or higher, RU land gains RUTap: draw a card then discard a card.

ANyone think this could work, I'm not sure if devotion can work for two colors?
