Give Gerrard Maniacal Rage, and he can indeed best Greven.

Wait - "Graven"? Uh, someone needs to fix the card database.

Create copies with Prototype Portal and you can just keep bringing the game back to your own turn. That combo won't be fun in a 4+ player game, as one or more players are going to get locked out.

A Chainer that uses discard is pretty fitting, considering he comes from Odyssey block.

    Greven, Predator Captain

    Looks pretty close to me.

Unfortunately, this Greven can't be played in a Volrath Commander deck. But you can play Moggs in this Greven's Commander deck.

Vent Sentinel, Rage Nimbus, and High Alert seem like good choices for a Pramikon deck. For more pillowfort d***ery, try Lightmine Field, Sphere of Safety, and Crown of Doom. And hey, Mystic Barrier can make it so nobody can attack anybody unless you choose the same direction as Pramikon. Then you just plunk Impact Tremors and Assemble the Legion on the battlefield and watch your steadily growing army march your opponents into submission.

  • posted a message on Queen Taladriel, Sari, and Myczil - WBG Elf legends for Commander
These legends are designed for a WBG Elf tribal commander deck. The deck's three major subthemes are counters, tokens, and graveyard interaction.

    Queen Taladriel 2WBG
    Legendary Creature - Elf Queen
Eminence - As long as ~ is in the command zone or on the battlefield, other Elves you control get +1/+1 and have "T: Add one mana of any color."
Whenever a noncommander creature deals combat damage to you, destroy that creature. You may put an Elf creature card from your hand onto the battlefield.
    1/4

Each of C17's Eminence legends focused on the core of their tribe's identity. Arahbo pumps your Cats, Inalla creates copies of your Wizards and lets you tap them to hurt opponents, Edgar creates Vampire tokens and puts +1/+1 counters on them whenever he attacks, and The Ur-Dragon makes your Dragons cheaper, draws you cards whenever your Dragons attack, and lets you cheat permanents onto the battlefield. Queen Taladriel here pumps your Elves and gives them a mana tapping ability. Furthermore she punishes creatures for hurting you by destroying them, and can cheat an Elf onto the battlefield while she's at it. Mess with the Queen at your own risk!

    Sari, Servo Stylist 1WBG
    Legendary Creature - Elf Artificer
    Fabricate 3
1, Remove a counter from a permanent you control: Create a token that's a copy of a token you control.
1, Sacrifice a token: Choose a type of counter on target permanent or player and put another of those counters on that permanent or player.
    2/2

Sari is from Kaladesh, which featured the Fabricate mechanic. Thus, she interacts with counters and tokens, two of the major subthemes of the Elf tribal deck. Her design is similar to Ghave, Guru of Spores, but she works with a larger variety of counters and tokens. +1/+1, -1/-1, charge, time, energy, poison, Clues, Treasure, etc.

    Myczil Savod Zunich WBG
    Legendary Creature - Elf Warrior
Whenever ~ becomes tapped, create a 1/1 green Elf Warrior creature token.
4, T, Sacrifice a nontoken creature: Put a +1/+1 counter on Myczil and draw a card.
    2/2

Myczil is the son of Fonn Zunich, a half-Silhana Elf from Selesnya, and Jarad Vod Savo, a Devkarin Elf from Golgari. Thus, I thought it would be appropriate for him to play well with both his parents' guilds. His tap trigger creates Elf tokens for Convoke and Populate similar to how Emmara, Soul of the Accord creates Soldiers, and his sac ability enables Dredge, Scavenge, and Undergrowth. Quite handily, those mechanics play into the deck's subthemes. His sac ability is limited to nontoken creatures, otherwise his tap ability might as well read "T: Put a +1/+1 counter on ~ and draw a card." His tap ability still triggers his token creating ability, effectively replacing the creature you just sacrificed.

I also have an Emmara subcommander for the deck, as the original is just not a good card and the second doesn't gel with an Elf tribal deck.

    Emmara, Silhana Healer GW
    Legendary Creature - Elf Cleric
T: Add one mana of any color and you gain 1 life.
Whenever you gain life, you may pay 1. If you do, create a 1/1 green and white Elf Cleric creature token with "T: Add one mana of any color and you gain 1 life."

  • posted a message on Arkul, the Bloodforger
This legend is inspired by various blood and Vampire-themed Equipment, such as Blade of the Bloodchief, Bloodforged Battle-Axe, Thirsting Axe, and the newly revealed Bloodthirsty Blade. The idea is that you combine the primary Vampire color, black, with the two primary Equipment colors, red and white. Quite handily, red and white are also the two most common secondary colors for Vampires in Magic.

    Arkul, the Bloodforger 2RWB
    Legendary Creature - Vampire Knight
    Lifelink, vigilance, haste
Whenever ~ deals combat damage, create a token that's a copy of target Equipment you control.
T, Pay X life: Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal an Equipment card with converted mana cost X or less. Put that card onto the battlefield. Then put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
    4/4

The basic idea behind Arkul is that he can craft metallic weapons and armor from blood (which make sense when you consider red blood contains iron). His two Equipment-related effects both play into this concept. His tap ability lets you spend life to speed Equipment onto the battlefield, while his combat damage trigger creates copies of Equipment you control. To help tie the whole card together, he also sports lifelink, vigilance, and haste, allowing him to attack and tap the turn he enters the battlefield, and providing you with additional life to keep activating his tap ability.

This seems like the kind of weapon Markov Blademaster would wield.

Now I'm getting an idea for a legendary RWB Vampire Knight who cares about Equipment.

Not quite. "Goaded" is a condition applied by the Goad action word, but now is the first time we've actually seen it printed on a card. A closer comparison would be the Monstrous condition granted by Monstrosity, but that one is supposed to be permanent. "Goaded" normally only lasts until your next turn, but this card grants it as a full-time condition. Makes me wonder if "Detained" can see similar use. Say, an Arrest-type Aura that says "Enchanted creature is detained. (It can't attack or block and its activated abilities can't be activated.)"

Interesting that we have an action word condition applied as a static effect. Has that been done before?

Parallel Lives and Anointed Procession are probably a little too good for a precon that already can pump out Rhinos and Dragons.

I'm surprised at the lack of Moonsilver Spear.

A RG deck can make clever use of this to reuse landfall triggers.

Ramunap Excavator or Crucible of Worlds
Exploration, Mina and Denn, Wildborn or any other form of land acceleration

You can also use land sac like Aggressive Mining and Destructive Digger to ensure other players have more lands than you when the Hellion attacks.

So, this is to Populate what Inexorable Tide is to Proliferate.

    Quote from Faruel ยป
It's too expensive to be used in normal token decks :/. A token doubling effect will be better most time and is cheaper. In some combos maybe.

Right, because in a green Commander deck, you're totally not running some ramp to get this out early, and you totally won't still have lots of spells to cast afterward. Not to mention token doublers don't create tokens with every spell you cast.
