you could play all 4 helix in the sb
i like all four or none in my decks

Any reasoning to back up that theory?

It's the next few sentences after your quote.

And concerning Keranos... You are only aiming your analysis for gb/x....this i agree with 100%. But I have it for different match ups...a resolved keranos has no permanent answer in control match ups save purge (which they use on nahiri mostly) and that becomes your pressure while you exchange cardboard.

Also nahiri can find keranos if emra isnt an option (looking at bridge mostly)

Also to mirror your tidings thinking...is there a card that does 9 damage for 5 mana.

Why run two maindeck Cliques in such a meta?

Run all four Helixes and a couple Timely instead. Cryptic also feels slow for the metagame you're describing.

This has been my list as of late and im quite fond of it.

    4 snap
    4 nahiri
    1 emrakul 9

    4 bolt
    4 path
    4 serum
    2 helix
    2 electrolyze 26
    2 leak
    2 remand
    2 snare
    2 cryptic
    2 verdict

    25 land
    2 quarter

    sb
    3 stony
    2 dispel
    2 negate 15
    2 ee
    2 relic
    2 timely
    2 clique

been thinking of removing 1 clique for a keranos with all the bg/x in my meta.

Also thinking of changing the serum to 4 AV but ive heard that might be a bad idea.....

anyways as you can see there is no room to run 4 helix MB unless I want to take out verdict which isnt happening because my meta is full of coco decks.

also after sideboard burn is certainly doable.

you could play all 4 helix in the sb
i like all four or none in my decks
you buy time with the life gain...sure
but otherwise its a overpriced bolt
the more 1cmc stuff u have the easier the first 3 turns are
i tend to play some amount of burst lightning to have bolts 5-x to increase my odds of seeing a 1cmc burn card for a lot of match ups
more 1cmc spells equals turn 2 serum with action available instead of nothing and holding up a helix to react
personal preference is 2-4 anger of the gods main board depending on the meta over supreme verdict (which i keep some number of wraths in the sb because u need them in some matches)
my reasoning for anger (besides the exile bonus) is that we want a turn 3 answer to the board into turn 4 nahiri. we dont have lingering souls to clog up the board before nahiri comes down unless you are trying out ari lax's deck choice (i do not because there is a few too many blood moon decks in my lgs)
im not sure if everyone feels this way. this is just how i like to play vs my field
    good luck in your emrasmashing
p.s. AV is best in grixis
burn is fairly easy to interact with. you just need to play smart with your life and bring in your dispel/negate/timely or if u take my advise pull in the 4 helix
on keranos...always have at least 1 in the 75. he can just pulverize the right match ups

how consistent is draconic roar with the 8 dragons mb
you play this over the magma jet slot i take it
also no 2cmc ramping artifacts. you still get there with just 23 lands?

Have you guys already played that ugly RG Ramp/Ponza deck with Mwonvuli Acid-Moss, Stormbreath Dragon, maindeck Blood Moon, Molten Rain etc? It seems like everybody is playing that horrible deck on Cockatrice. The thing is, it must be one of the worst MU we can possibly have to face. Relentlessly attacks our manabase, plays huge threats like Stormbreath and Inferno Titan by turn 4-5...I hope that deck doesn't become a thing.

I have one of those players in my meta. This was his 2nd or 3rd week with it. It has gone at least x-1 every week because its new/unexpected/what did you do to my mana. He plays bonfire to handle creature decks. I think his losses have just been to opponent getting the nut draw and him not having the correct starting hand.

I think if this deck takes off we need invasive surgery taking up some sideboard space

    Mr. Sheep
I have some experience with godo/skull.
I feel like if you take the jund style one for oneing approach up till the board is controlled to your liking you can slam godo. Usually 7 damage attacking twice should seal the deal. Extra awesomeness if you have koth infused mountain joining the fray. Skred is a slow snowball of doom. Many of the creature choices do the same thing in the long wrong. So I imagine if your meta is soft to skull then go for the 1 godo + 2 skull package

    2 Mountain
    2 Steam Vents
    2 Sulfur Falls

    (1 CMC)
    4 Serum Visions
    4 Lightning Bolt
    2 Burst Lightning
    2 Spell Snare

    (2CMC)
    1 Harvest Pyre
    1 Izzet Charm
    3 Mana Leak
    3 Remand

    (3+CMC)
    4 Snapcaster Mage
    1 Vendilion Clique
    4 Blood Moon
    2 Anger of the Gods
    2 Electrolyze

    (4 CMC)
    1 Cryptic Command
    2 Pia and Kiran Nalaar

    (5 CMC)
    2 Batterskull

i dont know about you guys but my meta has become more than 50% creature aggro decks like zoo, bots, and infect. this is why i moved my 2 angers into the main. tomorrow will be my first test. i feel that the izzet charm will serve its purpose at whatever point in the game i draw it.
if anyone has any suggestions or tips from things they have encountered let me know. always looking for weird angles and cool interactions.

I followed the lead of Lee Shi Tian here... http://www.mtgmintcard.com/articles/writers/lee-shi-tian/building-decks-with-freshly-unbanned-cards

Went undefeated at our once a month high stakes modern.
Round 1 grixis titi/ancestral control build
We both were trying to do the same thing. Early AV into CA to overwhelm the other. Moon punished him hard.
Game two he didnt defensively fetch basics. He went turn one creeping. Turn two suspend AV and cast serum. Turn three titi came down and took 3 turns to flip. I played a turn 4 pia and just poked a little. He eventually snap blocked my pia and next turn flipped his titi and bounced my tokens. I had sided into keranos big chandra and jace memory. Turn b4 the titi flip I played jace memory so he sent his flipped titi at the potential mill threat. Next turn I played chandra and attacked for 6 putting him to 6. He once again attacked the walker to not die. I drew a snap off the top and killed him with bolt.
    Round 2 vs infect
Game 1 he lead with the green infecter. That met my burst lightning. Turn two same play same answer. Turn 3 moon shut off his inkmoth. He cast a defiance but it was late to the party. I was on cryptic after that so it was counter blue unblockable infecter and bounce defiance. Waited for him to replay it and leaked it. Few more draw go turns and he fell to bolt snap bolt attack with snap.
Game . It was cat and mouse play. He tried baiting. I let him resolve his green infecter (board was just heirarch) he felt the sting of eot electrolyze. I went to turn 4 into pia turn 5 skull turn 6 moon and another electrolyze to eat the way. He got skite out and thought it was safe to play more dudes. My sb sweeper of choice happened to koz return. Apostles couldn't help so he had to use his plus 4 to keep a guy alive. After that it was just a few likes to death.
    Round 3 jeskai kiki.
Every AV resolved somehow. I killed his kiki every time it came down. He kiki'd his wall of omens only that game lol.
Game 2 was me bringing in 3 dispel and a negate with keranos and chandra. He landed his keranos on turn 5. I joined him since he was tapped out. His keranos saw lands for 3 turns (all nonbasic to boot) I used my electrolyze as bad shocks after that slowly chipping away his life. After I got him to 9 I saw an AV finally. Upon resolution of AV I burned him dead in my upkeep just cause.
Round 4 ID with affinity (friend) (which in sure I would have destroyed but I wanted to get home to my wife sooner)

Over all I felt invincible most of the time lol. AV does that to a man.
I think my sb was ok since it was to my meta
Side note: GDD hitting AV makes people sad.

Remeber play fearless until you can't

Ya I forgot how big of douche most affinity players are. Do you not think I haven't read Karsten's articles. Been reading his and others for the past 3 weeks. As I stated in my opening that this is what I "HAVE" and that I was looking for another Master or 2. wushambudo, I'm sure you are quite the expert on affinity. I truly appreciate you telling me that I am running a pile of crap and should just go spend the extra 200-300 needed to get the deck the way that would most please your eminence. Alas, I am but a poor peasant so ya piss off. If you would like to give constructive ideas for possible options that's great but please, get off you high horse. And admin's if I stepped out of line here I apologize.

    @flip
Bro ease up I meant no offense. I didn't realize the limitations. I just saw a list and commented.
Karsten's article helped me think differently about the deck and I was just passing it along. No need to go gun slinger mode. Robot love conquers all

This is what I have (borrowed deck from afar) and what I'm looking to run this weekend. I would like to find at least 1 more Master prior to and maybe a second Bridge.

dude... u need to focus the main deck to kill.
all the irrelevant spells in game 1 (unknown opponent) will only hinder victory. drop dismember, skite, 2nd cast, wreckage, to the board. matter reshaper is a no. max glimmer, max overseer, max master, max drum. moon in the sb is too slow for anything in the meta. back to nature should be nature's claim. relics suck overall. denial is mvp with max masters main. 1 aethergrid is sufficient. canonist? wtf is that for? get on karsten's article from end of February

@mtgdrafts move 1 etched to board (bad vs eldrazi lol). max out masters. 3 memnites. 3-4 overseers. dispatch=see note on skite. land should be island (if they blood moon u want to be able to cast masters into it). i play 1 blast skite in board (it doesnt kill your opponent unless u cranial it...the deck uses ravager to help vs spot removal)

painter...all their removal kills that. get the bridges in that slot

With the expected ban of an Ancient Tomb land and neutering the Eldrazi archetype, I will be expecting a lot of Affinity, Burn, G/B/x and Infect matchups come April. How does this deck fare against these top tier decks? I'm asking this because I just acquired most of the deck's components via trade with a former Splinter Twin player.

UWR has always destroyed affinity, infect & burn, IMO if you remove the ups an downs between the two decks its actually quite hard to lose against them. I'm not nearly a professional player and I've made bad mistakes in tournament play and recovered against those decks. Besides that check out the last big data pull mtggolfish did on the modern metagame (i think its about 1/2year old) at that time UWR, although small in number, was one of the "winningest" decks.

    It's a 50/50 against jund, and abzan.

It's horrendous against boggles, right now semi effective against eldrazi, and generally speaking if your up against something super grindy you may run out of cards before your opponent/lose.
    boggles use engineered explosives
