Ok testing with a friend today has shown me actual land destruction is super unnecessary. I am just doing 4x all lock pieces (including loadstone golem) 7x rituals 4x gemstone cavern 4x spirit guide 4x koth 2 Pia (to unlock bridge if necessary).
Turn 1 chalice into ritualed loadstone is lights out so he made the deck. Basically keep excelled hands into locks or on the draw get that gemstone cavern.
Why play modern when you can play legacy...amiright?
My tests have been all on the draw with friend usually turn 1 hand disruption. He sees multiple locks and has hard choices. Usually he takes a trinisphere because he is playing esper with new jace into goroyo's vengeance shenanigans

Temur delver number 1. Welcome back
Dang that event wanted bridge and chalice on 1
    Early power leveraged by countermagic

So that's not what my meta looked like.
I have infect and tron and midrange
And that was pre ban pre return
This thursday is our first attempt so I think I'm going to go safe with moon chalice trinisphere ld
I'll post a list shortly but yea boom/bust with goblin dark dwellers works

so wreckage can only be activated with cavern without a moon out...is it worth it? (or no luck gemstone)

    what up raystack
i was thinking about how skred would develop in the new meta and i came up with monored turbo bs.dec
im rocking moon trinisphere chalice bridge molten stone fulminator pyretic and desperate ritual
took a lot of the idea from free win red but decided magus of the moon was too much a liability with pyro and now return from tron
figured fulminator mage would be a nice swap
also contemplating a singleton goblin dark dweller...if trinisphere is not out it gets a free molten or stony our the yard
koth chandra and sarkhan rounding out the deck

Your list is cool, I want to attempt a more "Stax" version but have not hit the right combination yet. What concerns me about your build and other various staxs builds is that the way your cards come out and the way they line up with your opponent is very important. And game 2 almost everyone has artifact hate. However this is one of the best stax builds I have seen. I'll edit this post with my stax build soon.

    ty sir!
i think what is important in any tezz deck is hitting turn 2 ramp into a turn 3 4 drop
loadstone is ridiculous on that curve.
after that your opponent has to waste resources to deal with him. this is a pseudo time walk imo which i take advantage of on the following turn
i played combo elves round 4...o man..chalice on 1 from my turn 2 into a loadstone made his deck sad.
pithing needle on leap shut him down completely (he conceded that game).
overall i feel like the deck would benefit from simian spirit guide x4
that would give u the potential for the turn 1 chalice and all other bully cards faster...turn 2 etherium sculpter or talisman into a turn 3 loadstone more consistently too.
i actually dont have the urge to play grixis even with the spirit guides being red...i just dont like what red offers for some reason.
if i had goyfs i would totally play bug tezz for the them and abrupt decays/pulse
esper tho...seems legit because lili lingering path verdict all get the nod
ill let you know what i end up trying next thursday..either esper or your ub list

Hello fellow Tezzeret players. I have created a very extensive deck tech and posted it to tappedout for easy viewing. It explains all of my card choices and a brief overview of matchups against top tier decks. Given that you are already on this forum, most of what you read will be old news to you, but if you would like to discuss the article I would be happy to talk about. I will most likely be posting the article to reddit tomorrow if the mtgsalvation community receives the deck tech well.

    UBc Tezzeret Control Deck Tech

@racing089 bro i love how you worded all that.
i just got home from a 3-1 victory
only lost to a turn 2 gris drawing 2/3's his deck pitching wurms etc. man that match up is like wtf...i was supposed to be playing esper tezz but my buddy didnt show with the cards i needed to borrow to complete (i.e. i would of had path to exile for his gris crap)
i tried the heavier blue version that is basically modern stax. all the things you talked about excluding i was playing. i only felt durdley in one match...had a chalice on 1 vs soul sisters with a bridge out and he had played his anthems out early which made his guys wayyyyyyy to big to attack. i had a skite out to absorb his disenchant and literally just waited to draw tezz to ult him out. took a while lol

but yea i wish i had seen your list about 8 hours ago. i totally would have tried it out.

ok reporting in from thursday modern with death cloud
tron round 1. never saw a death cloud so i couldnt send him back to the stone age
jeskai flash...friend scooped to me cause he had to go meet a friend...i should have lost...literally countered everything relevant except in game 2 when he detention sphere'd my hangarback and i followed up with tezz on turn 3
round 3 beat the pants off podless junk
night of soul's betrayal out of the board suppressed game 2 and i ashiok'd him out even tho he had infinite life from turn 3 on
we ended up turning the game into a test for him and i gave him the win because i needed to go home to my wife.
    so no round 4...
honestly our meta is wide open and i got random match ups...overall i felt like the match ups were all random win or loss based on what was drawn...tron was poor luck but i know death cloud blows them out no matter what...just didnt see the deck in order on curve...
the super counterspell deck round 2 is an out-liar build that has been dormant for a while but obv i am weak to counters...maybe dispell in the sb?
podless junk...idk what to say..he had the power to win but his variance was his undoing...my deck is very anti creature...once i chained death clouds it was draw go no land for 10 turns while i build up walkers and dug for ashiok...had to thin my deck to 15 cards and activate tezz to stack my deck to draw her but once it was out i milled him out b4 i milled myself (go go bridge)

my enjoyment of this shell is that all the creatures die to my sweepers but have value in death. death cloud and damnation therefore seem less symmetrical. the ramping power is amazing. truly a great thing to cast damnation on turn 3 if necessary (on thursday i will know just how necessary...multiple infect, zoo is at least 1 guy, some rg tron....cant wait to death cloud tron!, 1 amulet guy...that should be interesting back and forth, 1-2 jund, 1 wilted abzan, 1 elf combo guy, 1 merfolk, 1 affinity, 1-2 boggles, and all variations of twin represented etc etc.)

ive never been one for percentages or how well im favored and all that jazz. i just like looking at my hand...knowing there isnt much my opponent can do about what im about to do...and see what happens after the dust settles.

i notice infect is land light along with zoo. they just poop out their hand like affinity and go ham with pump spells
    death cloud death cloud
i dont think u guys get how hyped i am for this old beauty.

so the feedback i got from my jund buddy... in his opinion there is nothing he can do against a game 1 academy.
his only out to a 5/5 darksteel game 1 is liliana.
    he hates seeing hangarback walker.
jund likes to be 1 step ahead of their opponent. if u alter that they tend to fall apart rapidly (death cloud anyone?)
esper feedback...this was my friend coming back into mtg. he is a die hard esper color fan. we debated esper aggro, control, mid etc...i found him this list for vengeance and it seemed to speak to him. he literally had it all sitting around there except he doesnt have new jace because he hasnt been in the scene for a long while.
we took it slow because we are both basically new to our lists.
we found that him vengeancing a obzedat and repeatedly blinking it quickly made my deck sad until i was able to recur blockers and eek out value plays.
game 2 i dragged him through 20 minutes of artifact value bliss and kept him pinched on resources the entire game (like 2/3 mana with me at 7)

So just playing with friends past few days
    Played jund and esper vengeance
    0 losses no sb
Jund guess who doesn't like death cloud
Tit for tat until I clouded
    Finished with a 5/5 darksteel
Esper had to grind since it's a reanimate strategy. Hangarback looks at lili and lolz
Death cloud took out an unburial norn

    hello tezzerators
i will be joining the ranks of the machina's men this coming thursday
i have opted to dive into the death cloud B/u list
i know the focus of the convo is grixis
as of late (and very soon to esper once oath finishes spoiling and the ban list reveals friends) so i hope you don't mind my almost mono black tezz deck stopping in from time to time
i have a penchant for land destruction as of late (coughing...tron...infect)
i will be happy to ramp into an early cloud for 2 or 3 to set my opponent back to the stone age
i will do my best to track my games (but sometimes i get caught up in the moment because i play modern for the pure fun of the game and interactions with my opponents...not to say that i am not competitive... its just not my priority to grind out wins and head to gp/ptqs)

    stay thirsty my friends
