Since Magic 2016 will be the last core set, and given that Wizards have been more aggressive towards Modern reprints, I predict that the 3-damage burn spell in Magic 2016 will be Lightning Bolt.

Quit digging? Fetchlands suck in my view. I don't think they are bad enough to make me stop playing, but I much prefer
    draw, land, go
    vs.
draw, land, crack, search, shuffle, pass deck, cut, go

Fetchlands take away from the game experience. Searching your deck, shuffling it, passing it to your opponent and having them cut it three or four times per game slows things down for no meaningful gain in gaming quality. Do you want to play Magic or watch your opponent shuffle? I want to play Magic so I don't want fetchlands reprinted.

If Wizards is smart, they will keep them out of Standard for good and as has been said by others here, if they want to fix their prices in Modern, print them in some sort of supplementary product.

The alternative would be to ban fetchlands. But would Wizards actually have the guts to do that?

Now that Magic 2015 is spoiled, it looks like that the next 3-damage burn spell in Magic 2015 is...Lightning Strike lol. But anyways, I do understand that the inclusion of Lighting Strike in Magic 2015 is primarily for limited. Though it's never too early to start speculating on Magic 2016.

Woot, 3 counterfeit threads on here in 2 days, and none of them are from me lol. What have I been trying to say? Counterfeits are a huge problem, and Wizards can just fix it by effing reprint old staples, most of which are not on the Reserved List. But noooooooo, no one listened to me. Slant

Be extra cautious when you trade or buy expensive cards. Also, a lot of real cards will be used, but every counterfeit will be fresh off the press. They are flooding the market. I would post a link to the actual video but then people are just going to think I'm someone else when I'm not.

Nearly perfect fakes. If you have any high-end cards that you don't want, sell them now. And as always, I recommend only getting cards from your LGS and other local players.

Counterfeit cards are spreading. To protect yourself, only buy sealed product. And if you're buying singles, only buy them from your LGS or other local players. Don't buy from Starcity Games or Ebay or anywhere online for that matter. And look out for suspicious posts on Magic Facebook groups that are selling cards at deep discounts.

Also, price spikes and falls can happen over night, literally.

Spikes, sure. Falls, no. Okay, to be fair, there might be a fall, but it's not a sudden "oh, this card is $80 and now it's $20." There's time to prepare.
Wotc can not let LGS take hits like that. Wotc would lose too many partners (LGS/TO's) hurting bottom line in the long run.
... which is why they did exactly that when they reprinted the shocklands, Thoughtseize, Scavenging Ooze, and Mutavault.

@Lord of Seth - You say falls don't happen, and then listed a plethora of cards that exactly that happened to. Bans/Reprints make prices literally fall overnight. Also, overhyped. I don't see Bitterblossom listed for 80+ anywhere anymore.

Early Feburary, when Bitterblossom was unbanned. It literally jumped from $15 to $90 overnight. PWNED!

Chinese Counterfeits are back. The most recent Grand Prix was in Beijing, which might be why we are getting news about it now. Should this be frowned upon? Yes. But think about, all the profits these counterfeiters are making are profits that Wizards could be making if they just reprinted those cards themselves.

    Quote from Benn Roe

The owner of that LGS is lying to you. I own a game shop in Philadelphia, and first of all: Wizards hasn't even started taking preorders on these yet. I called them this morning to check. They told me to call back in early April. The only distributor that I found that has started taking preorders is Alliance. ACD, PHD, Southern, and Wizards themselves aren't setup for preorders on these yet. I don't have an account with GTS, so I can't speak for them.

Second of all, most Magic products aren't limited, or at least not in any meaningful sense. They print them to meet expected demand (and often reprint if they fall far enough short of that mark). Stores that preorder early, and accurately anticipate demand, and stay in good standing with their distributors will get most if not all of what they preorder. If that store thinks the products are "limited", it's because they're ordering too conservatively or too late, or they're pissing off their distributors in one way or another. That said, some products are limited, like the From the Vaults and Commander's Arsenal, but the vast majority aren't.

And finally, there's no way that store knows how many they've been allocated. As I said, virtually no distributor has even started taking preorders yet, and those distributors won't have their final numbers from Wizards until a few weeks before the decks release at best. Distributors don't allocate products until they know how many they have to allocate.

I don't mark up Magic products because selling at MSRP is the right thing to do. Customers like you better for it, and a good reputation goes a long way toward selling more product, even if you don't take into consideration how many more units you're liable to sell at MSRP than you otherwise would. Scummy old-business game shops who lie to their customers and try to use supply and demand as a justification for ordering too few copies and jacking up the price go out of business all the time. Please don't think that the owner of the LGS in question speaks for local game stores in general. I have a feeling his store won't be around much longer anyway.

For genuinely limited products like From the Vault, he's right that in a very narrow short-sighted way he'll make more money marking them as high as he can get away with. If he can only get 25 either way, sure, selling 25 products at $75 each yields more direct profit than selling them at $30 each. But that extra $1125 is going to cost him a lot more business in the future. If your customers don't like you, they won't be your customers much longer.

I think it is a bit funny you say this. There are four LGSs in my city. This one is the closest one, around about a 15 minute drive. The next two are about a 30 minute drive, and the fourth one is about a 40 minute drive. Out of these four, one of the ones that is about a 30 minute drive is the one I go to. It has probably the largest Magic community in the area and honestly, I like the people there. The owner of the LGS in the quote above is for the store 15 minutes away. That card shop has a very small Magic community. It is more focused on Yugioh. I have been to countless FNMs and prereleases at my current LGS. As for the LGS in the quote above, I have only been to 1 prerelease, and that was it. It says something about both stores, if I would rather go to one store over the other, even though the former is twice the distance of the latter.

The two most recent infractions I got led to my ban. The first was in the quote above. The second was the one I described in the following paragraph about posting a video, but then I PMed a mod to delete it, which he did. The thing is, even if that thread was still up, I never received a warning/infraction about posting the youtube video (or any video for that matter) until the one I got which actually was the same time I got banned. And I am guessing that my name not being on the ban list was because I appealed it, but I am not sure if anything came from that.

There was one about discussing the Modern ban list outside of the ban list thread. The mod PMed me to explain about that one and after reading it I agree with that one. But I do not agree with the following two infractions.

MTG Lion made another video about fetchlands titled 3 Reasons Zendikar Fetchlands in 2014. A couple of points

-Channel Fireball players who use Twitch are asking people to borrow cards. Even they can't get these cards.
-For every year that fetchlands are not reprinted, the playerbase will get more disgruntled and will eventually lose interest
-25% of the Magic market are controlled by non-players
    -Modern is not affordable anymore
