i've played conley's contraband build for a few weeks now and i've came to the same conclusion. most of the games i'm scrying towards answers but as there's no card advantage I eventually reach a state of trying to top deck every turn for answers or master for the win. some days you get there some times they top deck glorybringers and you're fked.
deck needs a way to pull ahead in grindy match ups instead of staying at parity.
SV is kinda nonbo with fetchlands anyway. there are times where you scry and want both cards but need to fetch. cutting 1 or 2 visions for opt seems good. though we probably need to get significant amount of testing before a conclusion can be made.
then again, i've been playing the 2 sleight version so thats what my opts will be replacing first.
Metalwork Colossus. In addition to working powerful in conjunction with a reanimated Marionette Master it also finds a unique interaction in this deck. God-Pharaoh's Gift also has the perk of costing 7, alone or in conjunction with a previously played Hollow One the Colossus can come down cheep. It also works off of just 2 Hollow One.

This does not work the way you want it to. hollow one does not reduce metalwork's cost

the only reason why I'm favoring ub over uw is because of ifnir. reanimating champion with archfiend of ifnir in play just wipes anyboard. may not happen too often but its just so fun putting -1/-1 counters on hazoret
It's a fun version, have gone 4-1 and working on my second league with it. The Vexing Scuttler is for then you get popped by heavy Aetherflux hatred. I just picked up 3 Commit/Memory for the board, as I find that's a better way to stall out the game in the end if it comes down to it.
So that 5-0 deck was you piloting it?
Just curious, what does scuttler actually get back? Why is it not better over something like torrential gearhulk instead?
i dont understand what you guys are talking about. the only bad matchups are decks with queller + counterspells and black decks with discards and lost legacy. (kambal is pretty fked up too)
Creature/copter decks are not unfavorable. It's at most a 50/50 match up. chumping with crane on turn 3 and engulfing on 4 easily get's you another 3/4 turns to set up. If you untap with reservoir in play and a few spells, the game is practically over unless you draw multiple lands in a row or they can deal a huge load of damage in 1 turn.
Went 6-0-2 with my list tonight. Both draws were intentional in the 5th round of swiss and the finals. Good for 42$ cash prize which is twice what the deck cost I dropped 2 games in the swiss and 1 in the top 8. I beat GB Delirium + Copter twice, RW Vehicles once, Bant Humans once, another BG midrange, and the BG Graveyard deck from the SCG. I went from 4 to 150+ life on turn 6 in one game. A couple other once octopi got there. In one, a Glint-Nest with a shield and 3 bone saws went all the way. I comboed off after 2nd turn transgress taking Reservoir into 3rd turn Lost Legacy for Paradoxical Outcome. Everyone there was talking about it and this has got to be the sickest $20 standard deck ever.
What's your sideboard like? Was the bant deck playing spell queller, and if so how did you sideboard for it? That's the one card that crushes me the most.
Yeah, curious about this too. I just couldn't do anything against spell queller in FNM. Spell queller + counterspells back up has to be the most annoying match up for the deck. I could beat a lost legacy but when they start chaining quellers I feel so hopeless
