  • posted a message on most dominant sports teams ever
I think it's safe to say that when a sport organization has to change rules because you are that good it says something.
UCLA's Center was so good the NCAAB outlawed dunking for the time he was there. That is dominance.

  • posted a message on Favorite Series Finale Ever?
The finale that had the most viewers( in America ) was MASH, and it held the record for most viewers for a single television show for I believe somewhere around 30 years. (Was finally beaten a few years ago by a Super Bowl:mad:) That being said, I will give honorable mentions to Cowboy Bebop an Breaking Bad.

Before I can really begin to critique anything, I first have to ask how effective/fun this deck has been for you. I recently acquired Melek in a whole sale kind of deal and was thinking about running him. Your decks weakness seems to be the lack of defenses(at least to what I see) it possesses in a format which mostly contains multiplayer games where everyone is carrying an average of say maybe 18 creatures to your 6 creatures. Are you able to just kill opponents before you are overrun? Or is there something I am missing. (If I have made this sound disrespectful in any it was not my intent and I apologize)

Counterlash does good work for me..

Counter your spell to cheat into play Omniscience.

I second this motion, your honor.

@ Wild Card, I personally would not run Lilly of the dark realms in a 3 color deck but that's your choice. Notion thief is a serious double edged sword that has lost me quite a few games(he does NOT say may draw). If an opponent plays consecrated sphinx or something similar you just died. Tyrannt of Discord is a nice big body who could potentially wipe a board

When I turned my Sigarda Voltron into Derevi Voltron, Bower Pasage certainly made the cut to not be replaced with a blue spell. I love extremely cheap enchantments in EDH that can wreak havoc. It's a must for any green Volton.

  • posted a message on Basic Land usage in EDH
From the looks of it, you are playing Esper which means there's not a lot of ramp to target basic lands with, so you don't need as much of them. As far as the snow-covered is concerned,I have only seen snow covered lands in mono colored decks, but if u want them, have them. For a non-green deck, 39 is a good number for land.(green can get buy with as low as 37 in my opinion) so 41 is probably too much. Honestly the best way to know for sure is to play the deck and see what happens. On a side note however, every Voltron deck should have trailblazers boots(non basic landwalk) something to keep in mind

If you can get 5 years olds to do anything consistently with you except for eating than you have already won a major battle:nod:

I don't know when the old NHL teams started, but the Yankees have been around sense the 1870s I believe(I could be wrong) I'm a dolphins fan, and as much as I hate the patriots, The Yankees are far and away the most hated team.

Voltron in general is more effective with fewer players. That being said, if you make it Voltron/Control or Voltron/card advantage, you could be very threatening in any 4 player game

    Quote from Phil
Play blue or loose to green isn't a logical debate point any more.

Plus in a 4 player game, how are you going to counter 3 OTHER sylvan primordials or stop yours from being stolen or reanimated? Most two and three color decks with blue can only run so many counters before the deck becomes a unplayable mess. Having to protect your own board state while stopping abusive ETB triggers will become a very daunting task unless you build your deck to be a unwindable referee.

I could not agree with you more, which is why i wrote the other 75% of my post.

If you really want to stop ETB triggers, you are going to have to run group hate. In the 4 player game you just mentioned, everyone is going to want you gone first. Congratulations on trading the frying pan for the fire.

Voltron is also another possibility, which also has the benefit of being a win condition in and of itself. Its really hard to combo when you are dead.

If none of this works then you could always just out ETB your opponent, which happens all the time, especially with at least 3 sylvan primordials.:D

If your running mill you need it, if your not, you don't need it at all. Price wise I don't see it going over 1.50 ever (unless mill gets insane)

  • posted a message on Tired of ETB?
I think people are forgetting the fact that counter spells take care of ETB effects, and there are about a million counter spells in magic. (that number could be of but not by much):D

For those not playing blue, you are probaby using ETB to your advantage in the first place:nod:

    However...
    Quote from Elric VIII
    How about:

    Card 7
    Artifact
When a triggered ability is put on the stack, if it has at least one target, you may choose new targets for that ability.

    -or-

    Card 5
    Artifact
,t: Gain control of target triggered ability. You may choose new targets for that ability.

These are good ideas, however they should be mulitiple card types, not just artifacts.

When I play EDH, I usualy play with 4 players, and I dont think its too much of a stretch to say thats average. Its hard for a deck to consistantly dominate against 3 other decks, and if you do manage that, your buddies will build against you.

    Like mine did.

My first EDH deck was Sigarda, Host of Herons. The defenition of simple but effective(not trying to brag) ramp, get out sigarda, buff sigarda, kill. (with enough white and green removal to get past certain obsticals)

Eventually my freinds got wise, and before I know it, I am playing against Bruna, Ghave, and Niv Mezzit. Unsurprisingly, Sigarda didnt do well

Moral of the story is every card/combo has a weekness. Play a certain card/combo long enough and your enemies will find it weekness.

It one of the things that makes Magic so great
