I would use Gods Willing over Brave the Elements. I have used Gods Willing to great effect in my Boros Heroic deck so far. Brave the Elements won't trigger Heroic either. I would do this:
- 2 Brave the Elements
+ 2 Gods Willing
It is usually my preference to only run 2 of for legendaries, so I would:
-1 Anax and Cymede
+ 1 Soldier of the Pantheon
Soldier is a rock star in Standard (from what I have read anyway) being that he basically has protection from...well...the Ravnica block...
Also I think Phalanx leader is better than Anax and Cymede since his trigger sticks around.
You have a lot of double white CMC, so I think your lands look fine. Do some playtesting and see if you get flooded or screwed in one color and adjust accordingly.
Every mono black vampire deck will have to have 4 vampire nocturnus to be viable. I have had a ton of success in modern with mono black vamps because of nocturnus. He wins games out of nowhere.
Ideally, you want black weenies and then swing in with nocturnus. Check out this thread here for my decklist.
Thanks man. I actually just bought 2 Nocturni (like Octopi?) at my card shop. I will get two more at some point soon. I will be removing my Grave Titans and adding Mirri and VN. Pretty excited to playtest.
I have been planning on a Nocturnus since I'm running mono, but it'll be a bit since he is $6 right now. My wife has exhibited patience thus far...but I'm pushing it haha.
I did just order to Mirri the Cursed and 4 Go for the Throats though. I will be replacing Doom Blade with Go for the Throat and a Mutilate and a Victim of Night with Mirri. Hopefully that helps.
If I am going to drop $6 on a card, would you recommend Nocturnus or Captivating Vampire?
Hey guys, 1st post and looking for a wee bit o feedback. I haven't been playing too long, but have put together a couple standard and modern decks. Most of my decks are budget-y builds.
This is one that I have been having a lot of fun with. I have playtested it against various aggro decks, mostly standard stuff. Haven't played it against control really. I am a pretty casual player but recently started drafting at my LGS and will probably be doing some FNM's soon with this and my Boros standard deck.
Looking for any tips or replacements, but especially a sideboard. I have no idea what to put in for the SB.
Game plan is pretty simple. One and two drop vamps for early damage, spot removal until I can drop a Bloodline Keeper or Titan, then win (at least that's how all my games with this have gone...). Hexmage for early first strike and dealing with Planeswalkers.
Also, Sorin's Vengeance is kind of a filler. Replace with a fourth Bloodline Keeper maybe?
Any tips and hints from the pros are appreciated!
Thanks,
Venom
EDIT: Have updated with the Mirri, Go for the Throat, and took out Sorin's Vengeance for Read the Bones.
EDIT2: Replaced Grave Titan with 2 Vampire Nocturnus, added a 3rd Duress.
