  • posted a message on Mizzix of the Izmagnus
From a competitive standpoint, Mizzix of the Izmagnus appears to be the only relevant commander spoiled so far. The best way to build the deck is most likely a storm-styled combo EDH deck. I'd try out lots of ritual effects, efficient mana rocks, and heavy draw spells in order to draw a bunch of cards, chain into discounted rituals, and assemble a combo somehow. Recurring Insight is a card that I haven't seen mentioned here that should be auto-included in this deck due to how efficient it is in terms of how many cards it draws. I would not bother with control unless it will protect the combo because this commander's ability seems to be incredibly proactive. Melek, Izzet Paragon is already established as a decent combo commander, but hopefully Mizzix will be stronger. 10/10 would Wheel of Fortune with for days! Grin

  • posted a message on Gisela's Global Damage
Any reason you run neither Sol Ring nor Heartless Hidetsugu? Even if you plan to never combo Gisela with it, Heartless Hidetsugu halves the amount of damage you have to deal to other players with your global burn effects before you kill them. If the life loss worries you, then consider Resolute Archangel. Very effective lifegain card! Wink

I definitely would say that Oblation and Chaos Warp should be replaced. Terminus is still a decent boardwipe. There have been a few more interesting cards introduced since Theros. Arcbond, Outpost Siege, and Commune with Lava are all cards you should definitely consider. Pyromancer's Goggles is a pretty funny card!

Your primary goal should be to focus more on drawing and ramping. Not all creatures need to be urgently removed, but it is generally a good idea to draw more cards. You can even just draw into a boardwipe and answer everything! :p

  • posted a message on Hearstone based hybrid mana system
This hybrid mana system sounds just like Force of Will, actually! Grin One separates Force of Will decks into "Mana Stone" decks and "Main Decks".

In regards to control being buffed slightly in this variant, I wonder if there is merit to reducing starting life totals slightly in order to compensate?

Regarding the price of the new BFZ duals, if the prices on those cards do hit $10, it would only be because of standard and fringe modern play. The flexibility of untapping shocks with life is so much more relevant than saving two life by rushing to play two basics that I think modern players could LOSE games just for running those lands instead of shocks.

On a different topic, I'm pretty hyped for those new premium duals, but I'm really worried how well they will end up looking in person. For instance, it would be my worst nightmare to see these foils done in a FTV, or even worse, Modern Masters 2015 style of foiling! Mad

Assuming these lands look great, I have doubts that their prices would exceed the Judge Promo versions of the Onslaught Fetches. I get the feeling that a lot of BFZ product and a good amount of the promos will be opened, so I'm just sitting here and letting the hype build up inside of me. Maybe these duals will look 500 dollars pretty, yet cost less than the judge promo lands! Grin

  • posted a message on Omnath, Locus of Rage as an EDH Commander

I am pretty hyped for Red-Green's first good, goodstuff commander! :p

While a goodstuff land-ramping strategy is certainly possible with other Gruul Legendaries, Omnath, Locus of Rage rewards it so heavily. Boundless Realms not only becomes an insane value spell but a win-condition with a Fervor effect and perhaps a sac outlet.

Borborygmos Enraged and mono-green decks have already established Red-Green's strong affinity with land ramping, but Omnath's potential doesn't seem to end there! With cards such as Elemental Bond and Greater Good, I am very sure that this deck will also have a much better time at drawing cards too!

Is anyone else as hyped for this card as I am? Grin

It's too bad you're not running white because Academy Rector is such a great way to get out Omniscience! Frown

I'd like to point out the most obvious question I have in mind: where is Oracle of Mul Daya? I also think that instant-speed enablers such as Vedalken Orrery and Leyline of Anticipation are worth running too.

Simply Gaddock Teeg and Stony Silence on the battlefield seems to shut down your deck pretty well.

How does this deck deal with artifact hate and more dedicated stax-control builds?

  • posted a message on LANDS! (need suggestions / cuts)
Recurring Insight is a draw spell you should seriously consider running. While it is a one/two-time draw spell, the sheer number of cards it draws per resolution is significantly higher than most other draw spells. If your opponents are all in top-deck mode, I think that you are in a pretty safe position. Wink

Zuran Orb is just a cute card in my opinion. Resolute Archangel provides significantly more life gain, but even then, I am not sure if it is worth running in your deck.

One card I would really like to point out is Torpor Orb. Though you do run some ETB creatures, I feel that the card is worth running in your deck, because there are some pretty nasty ETB effects on creatures out there. Academy Ruins can make the orb and your Crucible stick around.

Those are my suggestions. I hope that they turn out to be useful to you. Good luck! Grin

how this card comparation with Primeval Titan?

how this card could screw opponents top deck plan?

could this guy counter mana hungry deck?

is it could find a spot in legacy or at least modern?

It doesn't compare very well to Primeval Titan very well IMO. The titan can guarantee that you hit Cabal Coffers and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, which is still better even than the rare case scenario of hitting 4 lands and stealing other exiled lands with the sower.

  • posted a message on Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh (Pillowfort Style)
How much work/damage does your general typically do compared to the rest of your deck? I've heard that Chandra was not a very strong EDH commander. Could you perhaps illustrate otherwise? I would be interested to read about it! Smile

Wow! This card is the weirdest thing I've ever seen! Rather than something you ramp into, this Eldrazi seems like its just another ramp spell to get you to the big Eldrazi! :p

Aside from this card's obvious interaction with Realm Razer, how else we could break this card? Personally, I want to play some multiplayer EDH with a buddy, who will play a mono-white deck with mine against strangers. He will be instructed to exile every plains in his deck with Endless Horizons...

Anyways, since this card was probably made for EDH only, what other interactions can you guys think of to abuse this card? I get the gut feeling that despite the potential shenanigans you can do with this, its probably not worth running ultimately. Thoughts?

  • posted a message on Karador - Boonweaver Combo
Sakura-Tribe Elder is really just too slow for your deck and there is not really anything worthwhile that you will block. You should consider swapping it out for an Elvish Spirit Guide or a Joraga Treespeaker.

You should also swap out your spot removal creatures for staxing creatures like Thalia, Guardian of Thraben or Glowrider. Those cards can better buy you the time you need to beat combo decks, and they help against cards that really bone you otherwise, such as Humility.

    Interesting list, though! Grin

Whoops! I didn't read Fierce Empath properly!

Also, how high do you generally in terms of mana? Would Shaman of the Forgotten Ways be worth running if his second ability comes online? The Biorhythm effect sounds pretty strong. On a similar note, Heartless Hidetsugu sounds strong because your deck often seems like its on the aggro.

Fierce Empath is worth playing because it gets everything super nasty except Malignus.

It gets Malignus, too. It's power and toughness are based on a Characteristic-Defining Ability, which is mentioned in rule 604.3 of the comprehensive rulings. Time for more of those OHKO's, no? Grin

What do you think of Putrefax? 5 mana to get rid of a target player you can get through with it seems like good spot removal, no? :p

Just wondering, why did you pick Dragonlord Dromoka as your general? I generally don't see decks with that card as the general in my local meta.

Trostani, Selesnya's Voice gives oodles of life with cards like Serra Avatar and can potentially make some cool populates with Phyrexian Processor. I don't quite see the benefits of opponents not casting spells on your turn over that.
