The "Standard legal" argument is totally irrelevant here. Jace was "Standard legal" just a couple of years ago.
That said, I agree Narset will never ever replace Jace, that's obvious.
(supplement isn't replacing, to supplement: to complete, add to, or extend by a supplement. )
But she might show up in the right Legacy deck, the real question is which... if any.
My point is that Wizards considers cards like Jace to be "mistakes" (I believe this was in an article about Snapcaster Mage), and so would never print something of that power level again.
Instant four-of in Mono-Red sideboards for Standard. Bring it in against any decks that don't tend to have a lot of stuff on the board, like UB Control.
only sideboard? i think this guy is definitly mainboard material. currently mono-red plays the 2/1 satyr, and i really think that his guy is way better.
because he has no drawback, can be pumped much cheaper, and can be like a repeatable fireball on en empty board especialy vs control.
i dig this guy, and hope i get 4 of them with pre-release and my display^^
Maybe one or two in the maindeck, but I don't put much stock in any one toughness creatures that require a mana investment in the current Satyr Wayfinder-meta.
You guys are comparing a Standard legal card to Jace. Really? No, this isn't going to replace Jace anywhere. I don't see it getting Legacy play, but it definitely has some use in Modern.

There wizards go again, putting a 4-of constructed card at mythic, again.
This newpractice is beginning to annoy.
Both of those cards only occasionally show up as four ofs, and the versions with them as 4 ofs rarely do too well. Also, are you saying the green mythic is a four of? I find that a little hard to believe. The command isn't a mythic if that's what you were thinking.
Very glad that this set is going to actually have some cool dragons in it, since it's called Dragons of Tarkir. Fate Reforged was disappointing, but I'm already impressed by this guy and the new Silumgar.
The expensive Twin staples aside from the Splinter Twins themselves go into a lot of different decks. I would say Splinter Twin is probably one of the safest choices for that very reason.
I'm inclined to say yes, because Living Weapon is all one trigger - so once it's resolved, you'll have had a 1/1 enter the battlefield. I'm no judge though, this is just my interpretation.
The deck is aimed to beat a mostly midrange format. Against highly aggressive decks, the Waste Not package (waste not, dark deal, rakshasa's secret) comes out and is replaced by the Drown in Sorrows, the Bile Blights, the Murk-Lurkers, and the Cures. The Torrent Elemental is there to ensure that we can still win the game even if both Ugins are accidentally milled.
I think there are a lot of limited-only cards, but also a lot more playable cards than is usual for a set. I expect it to be a pretty good set, better than Born or Journey at least.
