What kind of excellence? Do you mean being a spike?

Nekusar taxing people for a couple points of life per turn isn't really that threatening. When playing a high-speed, competitive deck, you can afford to fetch and shock, use City of Brass, Tarnished Citadel for colored mana, abuse Mana Crypt, etc. Having more cards (and, therefore, more resources) at the cost of life isn't something that Nekusar capitalizes on unless you make your opponent draw cards in huge chunks.

Think: Mindmoil, Jace's Archivist + Mind Over Matter, Temple Bell + Mind Over Matter, Forced Fruition, Windfall effects + Library of Leng.

play.woogerworks.com, port 4747. It's all in the link I posted above.

I would suggest using the server name cockatrice.woogerworks.com
I retired the name play.woogerworks.com and though it may still be available some were in the world of DNS it will no longer be updated to point to the correct server location. This was announced a while back on the main Woogerworks site. Smile

Today I spent 11 hours playing Magic. I traded with 4 people. The third trade was for 333 dollars. It was the biggest trade I have ever personally done. I got 4 Mutavaults, a remand, and some other fancy stuff.

Should have gone for double the value.

I tried to buy some foil 7th ed Ensnaring Bridges yesterday. Non-foil is about $8-$10. Foil? $60! Out the ASS mark-up.

I met more n00bs, they were 13. They each had Karametra and wouldn't trade her to me. Mad

Let them play Karametra in standard, then crush them.

    Quote from Irmis
We did trade for other stuff, and I gave them each a card. One of them tried to get a Tolarian Academy from me but couldn't quite cover the cost with the cards he had that I wanted.

Was the other person not aware of the value of the Academy, or were they not willing to part with cash cards?

In other news I got a wok. A cast iron wok. Today I will use for the first time and make homemade General Tso's Chicken.

My wife and I have been thinking about getting a wok. Let me know how that turns out.

In other other news I am tired. Exhausted, yet no idea why I am still awake and typing stuff.

Because you're a blue player. Seeing the color blue lowers serotonin levels being sent to the brain to naturally keep you focused as you counter spells and draw cards.

I've had similar feelings about result-based information. I think the most play this will see is maybe against blue. Vial in response to Brainstorm is as devastating as it'll get, but that's kind of it. I guess combo decks will also hurt: no Brainstorm, no Ponder, no Probe. However, D&T already has an answer to combo decks, and that's Thalia.

Unless T1 consistency is an issue, you can always forego daze for black disruption via discard.

That's what I do with Spanish Inquisition. Daze is free, however. I'm trying to run them mainboard so that I can cut down on figuring out what to side and reduce my worry about siding out the wrong cards.

Belcher as a win-con without LED sounds rough. 7 mana is a lot, and cutting that amount by almost half with a single card is no joke. LED does a lot of heavy lifting for combo.

If I can do anything that prevents me from losing my hand, I'll be happy. I didn't that say this was easy, effective, or possible. I'm just giving new ideas a crack, as always, trying to find the secret OP.

I've been trying to work on an LED-less combo involving Charbelcher with Land Grant for a Trop so that I can use Dazes for protection (and pacts because Dazes aren't enough). I tried to rule out running Force so that I wouldn't have rely on two cards. If only there was a Forest-Island-Swamp tri-land, I could fetch it with Land Grant, add black for common ramping, and bounce it for Daze : P

With casual EDH, competitive multipler, and French (competitive 1v1, special banlist), EDH will always be around in some way. Being unsanctioned, it will never be as big as standard.

As a Spanish Inquisition player and an avid "shiggles" deck-techer on Cockatrice for some of the goofiest combos, I can attest to how important Force of Will is to the Legacy meta. Not only does it keep ramp (end-result Elves) in check and enforces U(x) control matchups to be super common instead of the alternative bi-partisanship (non-blue control vs non-blue control), but Force also keeps the meta from being flooded by players who want to wing it with a budget turn 1 combo. I've tried just about everything from Pros-Bloom to Tezzeret to Eggs, and even mixed a few together for a budget-bastard-box of opponents falsely claiming "I saw a card in your deck, I know what you're playing," followed by." Without Force of Will, every deck would need to be running Thoughtseize and Daze basically.

When I want to teach new players how to play Modern and Legacy, I take bulk extras and make midrange, aggro, and control decks. No real Legacy staples, and that's the point. I allow them to develop a sense of "strictly better, strictly worse, I should be running this, this isn't relevant, etc." Eventually, they slowly climb their way through my bulk until they realize why expensive staples are good. By that point, they've found a real deck that they'd like to play, usually from ones I've shown them.

Sarpadian Empires Vol. VII is my favorite card to name in the event that my Cabal Therapy gets Misdirected back to me because my opponent will usually reply, "What...?"

Yeah, I have most of the cards needed to put together a good elves list, and I was seriously considering but for some reason I do t really want to buy cradles. They don't seem like they seem enough play to really be a commodity card in the future. I like them I'm not sure who else will if I decide to switch up decks.

If you play green in EDH, you'll love Cradles.

Well, if you have Dredge, maybe you own LED's. If that's the case, ANT is one of the most consistent combos. Of course, the most optimal list runs 4 USeas, but you can get away with 2 if you have enough fetches. Alongside those lands, Force is pretty much the other money card.

Other than that, a mono color deck would be your best bet. Pox can start small, but would get fairly expensive at the highest end. The same goes for Death and Taxes.

Elves is probably the cheapest non-burn monocolor deck. The cash-dump would of course be Gaea's Cradle. Left would be a few Glimpses, Dryad Arbors, and GSZ's which are all fairly cheap but stack up quickly.
