well from the looks of it i can see why the thread name got changed. it looks like the grixis control list just with ultimatums and 1 more land. i do worry a little about the graveyard with 3 gurmag 2 tasigur and snapcasters, i worry about only 23 lands a bit. the draw you have should be sufficient though. other than that it looks solid.
psychic rebuttal looks like it is awesome against burn and jund. they play discard spells and you'll just be like nope, you discard. its about as funny as someone redirecting hymn to tourach.
which is really funny when it happens it's just so cruel.
i remember playing lonely post in standard. homicidal seclusion does a lot. especially when paired up with the dimir keyrune. we however have creeping tar pit instead, he is a bit more resilient to removal. how many times do you guys have more than one creature anyway?
i ask cause my list plays like one tasigur and the batterskull. so for me that enchantment is used on them or one of my 4 tar pits. hmmm if we do switch to have that card would a 1 of lavaclaw reaches not be a bad idea?
i rarely if ever do it exactly on turn four, it usually end up using it turn like 6 not to have counter back up but more or less just cause i don't need to use it exactly on turn four.
i do see your point though, turn four it is deffinately not what i wanna do anyway unless the opponent is tapped out, then i just go get a cryptic.
I appologize as well, i did not realize i was nitpicking. I just thought the way the statement was worded made it seem like you didn't know the deck had been in the tier 1.5 listings when they still had it till we fell down into competitive deck creation due to lack of topping. i apologize for that.
on a more deck related note anyone else run the teachings build of cruel?
it's more reactive so we have an easier time beating creature decks like twin but i have a harder time beating burn. though this might be fixed when i get to play against them with 3 monastary seige in the side.
this isn't the first ever, the first in awhile yes but not the first. the bitterblossom in the side is the first time i have seen them in the 75 at all so that's new. anyone with a bitterblossom wanna test this?
from what i can see of your list you have 2 terminates and a far//away to stop the combo at instant speed that requires 3 or less mana. im not counting counter magic in this. and i am looking at things that kill/remove exarch. pestermite is easier to kill so we don't need to worry about it as much, exarch is the problem. if we include counter magic and multiple spells then that number goes up.
i don't know about others but i play 7 spells that can remove an exarch, not counting counter magic and multiples. 9 if you count jace ticking up one as well since that will make all the exarch's that are attacking 0.
i have never sb in them actually, never had a need to. usually i just repeal the melira when they try it then consume when they attack, anothrer way is to kill viscera seer when they activate him the first time or with the persist trigger on the stack. voices are a bit of a problem due to the token left behind but spell snare usually gets those out of the way for me.
or when they end up with a token afterwards it is usually a 1/1 and dies to an electrolyze
edit: i never said i didnt have a problem with noone. just creature based decks. my list is weak to tron, merfolk(i think this might just be bad luck but i have only played against it 3 times), and burn.
affinity is like 50/50 grind fest. i usually die to a topdecked cranial plating.
i haven't played against jund yet
twin decks we are in favor of beating
bogles so far beats me due to me only having 3 ways to remove them in the form of consume, and devour flesh in the main, and tribute in the sb
i havent faced zoo yet either but that match up looks to be in our favor, ill get back to you on that when i get the chance.
if i came off that i had problems against noone sorry didnt measn it that way, just my meta isn't as diverse as some. i don't really have to worry about tron, one person plays it and he shows up rarely.
i mainly see burn, affinity, twin, occasionally CoCo, bogles, and merfolk.
i have little to no problem with creature based decks other than fish, i never see any removal during those matches. like literally i get one terminate and all my counter magic. other than that consume the meek just wrecks coco for me, given the fact i can tutor for it and its important to stop me from dying its one of my first targets for teachings if i have one
i was going to try that sooner or later. on the topic of snaps and clique. i would probably play one or two snaps if i could afford it, clique i would need to test. from what i have seen he hasn't been doing to well. and the mage was never for main. he was going to be a sb card to wreck a mana base if i didn't need to worry so much about creature removal.
i am already planning on taking out the academy ruins, ee, and crypt. 2 monastary seige and k command are going in their place. i also have one fulminator mage to go with the command. i see thats picked up a bit of popularity lately. now the problem is getting k command into the main.
edit: 28 by my count, 26 if you don't count teachings itself.
