My friends' meta is, from what I recall (I've been out of the country for a year):
BUG reanimator/good stuff/control Tasigur deck
Meren reanimator/grindy deck
G Ezuri and a UG Ezuri
Kozilek
Maelstrom Wanderer good stuff deck
My deck used to be a grindy Jarad, with only one or two wincons, but a ton of disruption and mana ramp. However, I wanted to try to build a more combo focused on like in this Primer.
Scavenging Ooze and Nezumi Graverobber are in the deck because of the two other grindy reanimator decks that I want a repeatable easy way to deal with.
The rest of the differences are because of cards that I lack, although I am currently using a sharpy proxy of Entomb until I can find a non-foil one in my area to buy.
Any tips on what I can cut and add to help the deck run a bit smoother? I have access to Tooth and Nail, and a lot of other G and B spells that cost less than $20 dollars.
Basking Rootwalla can be played off of a discard, whereas a 0 cmc creature, if played, means you will not get to discard. That is why Rootwalla has an advantage over 0 CMC creatures.
Rootwalla means you can have a 7 card opening hand, discard Phantasmagorian at the end of turn, then later trigger Phantasmagorian, discarding a dredger, possibly another dredger, and a Rootwalla. The Rootwalla can then be cast.
Whereas with a 0 cmc, you play it, then can't discard anything for another turn, thus missing the change to dredge on turn two.
That's an interesting list. I'll have to go grab all the new cards in it and go try it out with my playgroup. They mostly play the oddball Modern Decks, non of the tier one decks, so it will be interesting to see how it plays.
The faerie is an interesting idwa. Unfortunately, it only works when you have two or more experience counters. Assuming I read her ability correctly, it's not a may.
Meren's ability has you choose the creature separate from the experience counter part of the ability. You choose the creature. Then you check to see if you have enough experience counters, then if so, put it into play. If not, it goes back to your hand. Which then allows you to discard it again and target your graveyard hate.
I'm also thinking about building a Meren deck, dumping my Jarad deck which everyone in my play group knows well enough that I can't win often with it anymore, so I'll be watching your endeavors, I like the list.
You have Ghoultree on your list twice. I like your list, I'm actually thinking of building my own Jarad deck here soon, but I'm still unsure of how reliant on him I want to make it.
C'mon we all know that Azorious and Dimir are the only true guilds on Ravnica. Everybody else is just inferior and needs to be controlled. Either by laws or by more sinister means
Five bucks says that's what Azor and Szadek thought when they came up with the Guild Pact.
I liked Original!Rav because it had so many different colors/characters on both sides of the good/evil dichotomy, it wasn't all cut and dried. Sure, Svogthir was evil, but he was an evil that had helped foster in the good, and wasn't totally crazy. On the other hand, Agustin was lawful stupid and ran with it straight into death's arms. It was quite fun to read.
I had several friends buy I think 15 of these and pull a total of 5 Lilianas of the Vail, including one foil Liliana. I was a little sad I didn't get one
I'm probably going to put this in my Glissa EDH deck. It gives my opponents creatures, that I then have a million ways to get rid of to allow me to get back artifacts to my hand.
I just use proxies. I've though about sleeving all of my decks in the same sleeves, but I personally will forget where certain cards are, so it will take longer to switch between decks before a game.
I do this. I really only try to get one of any specific card if it costs more than 20 dollars (unless I get a really good deal for it), and then I print off some nice color proxies for any other decks that run the card.
I run a fun Varolz Infect deck for EDH. It doesn't win, unless it topdecks like a boss, but it is still enjoyable to play and usually allows me to knock one or two players out before I get shutdown.

Darn it. Does that mean mono blue won't have a legendary? That seems a bit weird; I was all ready for a cool Taigam card.

Agree. I'll probably get the card, if for no other reason than to add to my collection of cards with flavor I absolutely love.
