I'm going to guess that the RiP and/or Stony Silence are for KCI decks, where Moon may not be as effective. Same for Affinity. But yeah, I'd be interested in seeing a SB plan for this deck since it has TitI as well.
You could easily drop a couple lands and add some combination of Roast or Melody. Granted I haven't played a ton of games with the deck, but with 8 can trips that filter and 17 cards that read "draw a card", I haven't felt like 20 lands is too few. You cycle through the deck pretty quick to find lands.
Shoal just seems like a trap. Card disadvantage and its very situational. I've been testing this list out and really liking it. No problems flipping TiTI. Depending on the deck it can come down turn 2, or wait till its safe to play with projection (why I'm running 2x Spell Snare, Dispel, and Pierce main). I didn't like 3 Jace's. I was seeing him too often and I rarely want to play him on turn 4. Usually wait until I've stabilized or have TiTI in place for protection to play Jace. Then either he or TiTI runs away with the game. Entrancing Melody is really good. Triggers TiTI, and can be flashed back.
I just don't think Shoal is a good card. Its too situational. You need a card with the exact CMC in your hand to make it worth it. Its no where near as powerful as FoW. You're also discarding a card that you may need to flip a TitI, or want it to get another Pyromancer trigger.
For some reason I've been drawn to UR since the unban b/c a T3 Moon followed by T4 Jace just seems back breaking, and potentially having a TitI on T2 to protect Jace is even more crazy. There are a ton of mana greedy decks out there right now and I just want to punish people for it with Blood Moon.
I'm also not sure if Scapeshift is the right shell for Jace, but just like everyone else running blue I'm going to jam them. Here is what I'll be trying. I've been fine with 24 lands... the amount of card draw and having 9 other cards to fetch basics seems to support 24 lands just fine. Usually with RUG my problem isn't being able to get to 7 lands, but not finding Scapeshift when I need it. With BTL it is obviously easier, but then its more susceptible to getting color screwed.
Could go down to 2 Jace or 2 Snap and add an AotG or EE. Sideboard is always in flux, but the idea is to side into a planeswalker control deck with some creatures for beat down if opponent has a lot of Scapeshift hate. I've also never been sold on SfA in this deck. On turn 2 I want to be remanding something, casting Steve to block, or ramping, and we don't fill our yard fast enough to flip it.
Geist getting worse makes no sense. It can combat opposing Jaces, and if played on turn 3, you can use Jace's bounce ability on turn 4 to clear the way for 6 dmg. Then on the opponents next turn they need to either deal with both Geist and Jace or they're probably going to lose. Geist and Jace seem pretty powerful together if you ask me...
I found that playing the combo pieces over Queller, Geist and Clique improved the MUs against most of the big mana decks.
If Jeskai Geist/Queller still has a 50/50 matchup against big mana, then thats still a good place to be. When big mana decks become prevalent, there should be an uptick in burn, aggro, and infect, which Jeskai is great against. At a large event being the deck that preys on the decks that are trying to beat big mana is the place to be. If big mana is a problem, just run additional counters in the board, like 2 Negate and 2 Disdainful Stroke, or a 1/3 split.
I think I'd drop the Glade for a Crypt first and see how that goes before messing with fetches, though your logic is sound.
I'm on black splash now myself with 2 Fatal Push and a Sultai Charm main and while I haven't struggled to get black sources having only 3 when running Damnation can be troublesome. I'm also going to try a single Terminate, so going up to 4 Black sources may be ideal.
While the question wasn't directed to me, I'll chime in and say I really like the Negates. The deck seems to handle creatures fine with the Paths and Bolts, Negate definitively handles everything else.
I played Geist before and during Eldrazi Winter and stopped playing it b/c of the Eldrazi overlords, but now that I'm back on the deck it feels so much better with Quellers and Negates.
Keep because you can play everything in your hand except for the swiftspear. It's slower, but playable and you'll have delerium on turn 3 if you use the growth.
