It would've been interesting to open some design space with dual lands. Something like, "Land ETB tapped unless you discard a card", or maybe "ETB tapped unless you have 4 for fewer cards in hand".
Ragnus, the Warmonger 2WBR
Legendary Creature - Human Warrior
Whenever a Battle you protect is defeated. You may search your library for a Battle card with equal or lesser mana value, put that card into your hand, then shuffle.
Whenever you defeat a Battle, Ragnus, the Warmonger deals 3 damage to the player that protected it. Each opponent that didn't attacked it discards a card, and you create two tapped Treasure tokens. 3/4
wouldn’t it make more sense to have it trigger on battles you own instead of protect?
If you’re not playing on a digital platform like mtgo, how would you be tracking which opponents attack?
since this card looks designed for commander, there are only 17 battles in this color identity.
Payoff for Rokudo is a little bit weak. I would have it add a counter for each different basic land type used to cast. (ex if you tap mountain and 2 forests, it gets two +1/+1 counters).
I would just change "UX03" to a vehicle. You can make the crew cost something like "Tap a basic land".
That could work, but it would fondamentally change one main thing: you don't have a Fortification in your command zone anymore.
I'm thinking about two solutions:
- keep it as it is. It's still not an official card, i can make it so it works in my set.
- give the fortified land double strike. Dealing 21 commander damage eliminates a player exactly as dealing 40 damage, so doubling the land's damage would keep it worthy. It's a big buff tho.
I think I figured it out.
Add the text: "As long as UX03 is not fortified, its not a creature."
You could probably do something like: "Target player exiles x creatures. For each creature exiled this way, they create a 2/2 zombie token." (Not sure what creature token it should be).
Mana cost might be XUUU or something similar to be comparable to Curse of the Swine
Regarding "Strange Temptations":
I wonder if it would be printable if we edited to " Search for a card with a subtype". Maybe, "Search for a card with multiple types".
The 12/26/23 random card of the day is Woolly Spider. If you have any comments, combos or a decklist involving this card, feel free to share.
This was part of Olle Rade's Pro Tour winning spider deck. He was immortalized in Sylvan Safekeeper for winning an invitational, when the prize was creating a magic card.
Here's that image.
Never knew this, thanks for sharing.
I'll add one last tidbit. After Olle won the invitational, he quit playing magic for several years. By the time he returned, he had shaven his head, therefore WOTC agreed to let him create the card with the condition that he would be depicted with his trademark long hair.

I Spy B
Creature Human Detective
When I Spy enters the battlefield, look at target players hand.

Unusual cycle of 6 mana value dragons where only 3 are on the reserved list Canopy Dragon, Catacomb Dragon and Mist Dragon.
Volcanic Dragon is the last of the cycle and was downgraded to uncommon.
Crimson Hellkite was the dragon clearly made for all the casual "Timmy" players.
one of the best reanimator spells, gets flash to trigger any etb and death effects, and abusable with sun titan etc..

For us old players that started back in ice age and fourth edition around 1995, this was the first attempt at a fixed sol ring.
Any card that was a simple “draw a card” cantrip is more likely obsolete though.
I think I figured it out.

Does that fit within the rules?

Crew: Tap a basic land
"UX03 gets +1/+1 for each artifact creature you control."
These were the third charm cycle printed. Mirage had the Seedling Charm cycle and Visions had Vision Charm cycle.
This is one of the 2 best ones of the cycle with Crosis's Charm
