#NoBauble #Scrub lol
but seriously, Benson, Ryan and I all did very well with the list (even though both of them started 0-2) I picked up my third loss in round 9 and Benson his 3rd loss in round 8. The deck is very good and I would definitely play the main 60 again and would play 14/15 side board cards again, so this list is very close to where we want to be.

Hello again my friends. I doubt many of you remember me, but I found this thread about 2 or 3 years ago and I brewed up a list, posted it with intent to build it, then forgot about it for almost a year. Well I began building my list almost a year ago and I finally completed it this past weekend AND got to play it in a PPTQ! It was 20ish people and I went undefeated until top 4 where I lost to ur twin (a good match up to be sure, I just played poorly)
The list
4 Lantern of insight
4 codex shredder
2 ghoulcaller's bell
2 pyxis of pandemonium
4 mox opal
4 ensnaring bridge
1 elixir of immortality
1 pyrite spellbomb
1 pithing needle
1 expedition map
1 tormod's crypt
4 ancient stirrings
3 abrupt decay
3 artificer's intuition
2 tezzeret, agent of bolas
2 serum visions
2 Inquisition of kozilek
2 thought seize
Side
3 nature's claim
3 sundroplet
2 surgical extraction
2 darkblast
1 abrupt decay
1 thought seize
1 Inquisition of kozilek
1 pithing needle
1 grafdigger's cage
Okay lots to cover here but I would like to highlight artificer's intuition. I know okay, I've read the arguments against it, I understand your concern, but believe me when I say it has won me more games on its own than any other single card in this deck. There is an obvious main board silver bullet collection to go with it.
Tezzeret is another highlight. He is usually just there as an extra win con. He is solid, works as extra ancient stirrings, and I believe is a good addition to the deck
I believe this build to be superior to almost every other build I've seen posted, and I don't say that lightly.
In the side I was using 3 droplets. This is incorrect if there is a chance of you playing against burn, however I managed to avoid the deck, so I did fine.
Also darkblast?? I justified it by saying it will kill higherarch, and signal pest, etc etc, but I never once brought it in. I would cut these if I were to replay the tournament again.
Grafdigger's cage is obviously powerful in that games where its good, but one match you should always bring it in against is U/R Twin. Reason is because in addition to shutting down snap (not a good enough reason to bring it in on its own) it also stopps ancient grudge dead in its tracks, and that can be a huge big deal.
Tbh I was unimpressed with how surgical extraction preformed. I brought it in, I cast it a few times, I just never had it do anything impactfull.
Whew glad they got rid of that degenerate DRS! It was taking up approximately 0 slots here.
I'd be willing to bet you a dollar that every single one of those decks either had a game plan for dealing with drs, or the deck as a whole is good enough against drs that it didn't need more hate (affinity)
Izzet charm could be good... I'm just trying to cut colors because blue is good, black is good, white is good, green is good, red is good- they are all good in this deck! Short of running 5cc what colors does this deck need to be?
Dude, dude, you need to chill out. I honestly think you are more upset than how I was a few hours ago.
This is kind of a respond to your other thread, which will probably be moved or locked.
Don't sell all your cards just yet, just wait to see how the meta evolves before making any big decision, like what I'm doing. Everything seems good in a vacuum until it is actually proven in a larger tournament environment. Zoo and Fae may not even completely usurp Jund in the long run. You just need to relax and be a bit patient.
I agree, zoo will be a +1 matchup. Fairies is an unknown to me, but I suspect I should run that celestial purge in my side that I've been neglecting to include.
Actually, i'd say Pyroclasm loses a lot of its potency for us, especially against Faeries. Volcanic Fallout may actually end up being a better option in the long run. It is uncounterable and also instant speed. Shame about the double red though. Abrupt Decay also becomes slightly more important for us.
I'm tempted to go up to 4 Galvanic Blasts for Zoo though.
do we need to change anything for zoo? Ensnaring bridge is our answer to affinity... Isn't it our answer to zoo also?
Against Twin: Zoo will be too fast, they can't turn 4 splinter without counter mana because of PtE...
Against Tron: Pyroclasm just got its balls chopped off...
Against Affinity: Zoo actually has access to removal, and blood moon is a blow out...
Against Jund: Let's not even speak of this, it is too painful...
Against Pod: Did I mention removal??
Zoo decks could be running as many as 12 removal spells...with 8 of them able to go to the face...
im not sure im 100% with this assessment, blood moon won't do enough against affinity to merrit its inclusion. Also pod is much more resilient to removal than I think your giving it credit for. Tron will likely adapt to firespout if zoo proves itself, and game 2 against twin it just brings in spell skite to act as a sponge to your combat damage and will eat pte.
Bolt is no where on the same level as DRS. Bolt is one time deal.
agreed, bolt doesn't define or dominate modern, nor does it force people to build decks around the knowledge that lighting bolt could be a problem more than any other removal spell. Drs did. Although I think drs might be able to come off the banlist in years to come, for now, it is the right call.
If you can name one competitive deck that played DRS that was black but not green I will give you a dollar.
I'll probably never earn that dollar lol. But you can't show me a green deck that ran him without black either, and that, was my point in the first place.
Why not? It gets the point across. Saying that DRS is the best B one drop ever is a really naive statement and speaks volumes of your experience with the game as a whole, not just Modern.
The point is that Nacatl is probably going to replace him as the best G one drop in the format. Whether you consider him green, black, or both is irrelevant.
although I think the others in this thread have already spoken up for me, I would like to point out that even mono black decks (as casual as they may have been) always tried to included drs, but mono green usually looked to cut him for a different mana dork or for the much better scavenging ooze. Point is, without running black, drs was a questionable inclusion at best. But when you ran black he was a must have, so although he is actually b/g, experienced players will tell you he is much more of a black card than a green one.
Also considering the speed of the format and the relative size of most creatures, a one mana 3/3 is pretty damn impressive at almost all stages of the game.
I don't think that attacking me as a player is necessary, but if you must know I've been playing modern since its inception, and in my experience, drs is a black creature that got a little better if you were playing green.

Any questions? I'll be glad to answer.
Thanks for reading guys! Happy building!!

agree, and dispatch for removal if you don't run red

I respectfully disagree. They replaced the best B 1 drop ever, with a G 1 drop that like most other one drops, is mostly good in the early game.
