This sort of thing really makes me question whether or not wizards still deserves my money. As a player who will probably feel the effect of these bannings I just have to shake my head about their increasingly questionable corporate policies. Having over 20 years invested in this game makes it difficult to do anything else though.
I'm really not understanding how seeing a card (or cards) early affects people's enjoyment of the game. Shouldn't the quality of the cards and set overall be more influential?
That gideon is poop and slightly off flavor. I will be quite disappointed if that's what he does. Edit: if those lands are for real I expect them to tank the value of all the other rares in the set
Up to now they've had one reprint and two new legendaries. I doubt they'll break that habit with this set, given people expect it now. This is a great opportunity to add new Commanders to the available selection pool, not just reprint ones, especially since the enemy colours are still lacking in choice. They'll come up with a theme for the deck, print two new Commanders for that theme (or subtheme), with one of those being the "face", and then find an old card that fits and reprint that. No one can say that Thraximundar or Drana were particularly required reprints, but they found their way into the decks because they fit the theme.
Not to mention, even as far as the reprints go, I would be shocked if cards like Aurelia, Tajic and Iroas made it in, given how recent those cards are and how easy it is to get hold of them.
I also think people are focusing way to much on the guilds. I get why it's easy to do that, as people associate that colour pair with the corresponding Ravnica guild, but I don't think we can make that assumption. There are plenty of two-colour legends that could see a reprint that don't have to come from Ravnica.
Of the ten R/W legendary creatures currently in existence, two have already been printed in Commander products (indeed, one of them is exclusive to the commander format), if we discount those two (Basandra and Brion), and skip the four Boros legends, that leaves four possibilities. If we remove the most recent ones after that (Iroas, Anax and Cymede, and and Jor Kadeen), that leaves Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. This is not necessarily a bad thing mind you, as it would be great to see as the R/W commander reprint.
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight is more recent than Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer
