I've seen, some time ago (like, 6 months+), a website that would compare a inventory list and tells you which decks you can build with it, and what you need to finish some others. Problem is, can't remember the site's page. Do any of you knows such a website?
You know something, the longer I think about it the more I know why Vryn bothered me. I wanted a kind of lost technology world with Vryn. Those Mage Rings looked like tech that was impressive... but not all that well maintained. I was seeing a world where people for some reason lost the knowledge of a far more advanced civilization and were just trying to survive as best they could with the leftovers with some problem on the rise and needing the best minds available to solve it.
One thing that I simply didn't care too much was the setting. On both Jace and Chandra's history (and liliana too) we see almost nothing about the world - because they have a VERY limited space to tell the history they want to tell. In the end, I'd like to see more about both worlds, but won't be like "When we're going to Vryn MaRo?".
The thing that piss me off about this history is Alhammarret fall to greed. He could have show a bigger plan, a "This way the plan got to perfect itself", or even a pinch of white (!), but falling for money felt cheap.
The original lore he was upset with his teacher blocking the truth about planes-walking from him, he wiped his teacher's mind out of anger. Then, under extreme guilt, he wiped his memory to stop the pain.
line. The mental battle was ok (a bit rushed, but ok), however I do think that the guilt-wipe was more tragic (and more interesting). Where that info came from?
Also, quite a few words where used on Jace's denied-planeswalk. He could have continued with this line, no need to include money.
I think Alhammarret's stated intentions are pretty mono-blue, i.e. he cares more about the continued existence of the mage-ring network than the people living within it. The assumption that whichever side was about to lose utterly would destroy the mage-rings out of spite might be a reference to something that happened in Vryn's past (since sphinxes can live a pretty long time), or just Alhammarret's assumption that of course unblue, emotionally-driven creatures do stupid things. I could see either one being the case.
I didn't notice him saying one reason he was manipulating the two sides was to make sure the mage-rings remain standing explicitly, if he did say that then I think that sets him neatly in mono-blue, assuming that he believes that maintaining the mage-rings is most important. I was actually sort of bothered myself if profit was his primary motivation even though as I said I think the distinction would be a thin one at that point.
The sphinx does state, when it first travel with Jace, that "And as long as each side thinks it can win, that balance holds, and the mage-rings stand. Cities are abandoned intact rather than leveled. Roads and bridges are given up, to be recaptured later. If that ever changes—if either side finds itself in existential danger—then it will destroy everything as it retreats, to deny it to the other. Civilization on Vryn might take centuries to recover—if it ever did."
I'd say the sphinx is like, 7/10 U, 2/10 B, 1/10 W
I am also curious about the timeline of the presented UR. The KTK Narset looked like a woman in her forty-something, but was said to be much older in reality (like Shu Yun in FRF). DTK Narset's ascension must have happened some significant time before the events of KTK - she is visibly younger (twenty-some max) and the story kind of confirms that she ascended quite young. If we accept the premise that both counterparts were born in both timelines in +/- the same time.
I think that this week UR was set before sarkhan went back. Like something between 10 or 20 years before DTK/tarkir 1.1
Well, I wouldn't deem autism as touchy a subject as gender identity, but I'll grant your point nonetheless...
I know perfectly well that the first plane, speaking in terms of probability, isn't necessarily going to be the kind of learning experience Narset needs. For every Kamigawa and Ravnica, there's also a Mercadia (comparatively placid, although who knows what she could get from the Ramosian tradition) and a Muraganda (and as I mentioned before, a Muraganda may just be what Ojutai's best-case scenario is). But I'm thinking in terms of popular fiction tendencies. I suppose that at least, Kamigawa or Ravnica is likely to be the first place Narset visits that gets lots of narrative attention. Emphasis on "likely".
Although...this all calls up another question--When, in relation to Vol's reappearance in Tarkir 1.1, did Narset planeswalk? No matter how his meeting with Ugin goes, Vol's probably going to be a...well, not a wreck, certainly, but still nervous...about the fate of his first real friend, version update or no. Maybe Ugin sensed her first planeswalk from within the hedron mantle; we probably won't find out until one or two weeks from now (depends on when the Planeswalkers' Guide goes up). Given the nature of Ojutai's prodding, it will probably be months at least until Narset even thinks to come back, barring anything that makes her realize that Ojutai was manipulating her. There's knowledge in them thar planes!
(I'm still a little surprised, by the way, that my 1.0/1.1 terminology took off so thoroughly. Either I wasn't the only one who came up with it, or it really resonated with the commentators. Especially since I haven't seen anyone speak of 1.0/2.0, instead. Didn't think I'd make that sort of terminological impact...)
Well, there's no info about her age on tarkir 1.0, and no info relating the moment of her first planeswalking in tarkir 1.1... I think if she and Sarkhan find each other, she'll be older.
(and well, the terminology is just good. It's not a totally new tarkir, and the 1.0/1.1 resonate quite well.)
And yet, lots of people are liking it. We cannot strip Rule Of Cool powers...
My reasoning:
Something in between, going for cool. It’s not easy to understand what was a Elder Dragon before, with history in the books. At most, we had wikis and other fan-sites up with interpretation of that material.
But now we have new Elder Dragons, with an reachable explanation of why they’re elder. And with what beying elder implies.
So, I think elder is nice. Not that I’m expecting a new Elder Dragon next set, but maybe on the next 15 years…
I could see myself swapping some (or all) Voice of Resurgences for auriok champion. This may ease things on the manabase. Kitchen Finks is not THAT good on this deck, IMO. We already have lots of 2-for-1, and the lifegain is marginal, compared to auriok champ.
Just returned from a 3-round tournament with my abzan list (posted on page 58).
The rounds where:
2-0 against White weenies. His list with Thalia and Dryad Militant was annoying, but Zealous Persecution was just the gamebreaker. I noticed that the manabase fights a LOT against a turn 3 spectral procession, but that was delayed by thalia already. Zealous conscriptions managed to get a LOT on game 2: 2 dryad, 2 thalia, one Kitchen Finks and one Aven Mindcensor. While my count right now is 3, I will search for the 4th one
0-2 against WUR / jeskai control. First game, opening hand with Honor of the pure, Voice of Resurgence, Siege Rhino and lands. On turn 2 I tapped out for anthem and he snatched my voice with a vendillon clique. Never saw other creature. On match 2, both thoughtseize, inquisition of kozilek and duress where put to work, snatching wrath of god, snapcasters, bolts, but he got his way with burn and restoangel.
2-0 against abzan. Turn 3 sword of light and shadow was game. Got back rhino and voice with flying spirits. So powerful! Game 2 saw almost all Lingering Souls on the deck, 2-for-1'ning almost everything. Again, the Zealous conscriptions proved beying powerful.
Some comments:
The manabase suffers a lot. Turn one IoK into turn 2 voice hits hard. Turn 3 spectral procession was impossible, for me.
Agree on the Turn 2/3 problem. If the hand has anthem into lingering souls, it's awesome. Almost anything else is harder.
The Gavony townships where nice, but not awesome. It doesn't help that they showed up only against Abzan. Still think they need more test.
Still, never saw brimaz, so can't decide if he stays or not. Ill test a bit more with him...
What do you guys think about the green inclusion? I know that the fetchlands arent optimal, but those are the ones I have atm
Since all creatures are white, another Honor of the Pure would be awesome, in the place of Sword of Light and Shadow.
I'll test the list on Saturday and see what works and what doesn't. [sideboard to be figured ]
My views:
Azorius - Sex only after married, just for having children.
Dimir - "Femme"-fatales.
Rakdos - Sodoma and Gomorra.
Grull - More like animals. Fertile period and stuff.
Selesnya - No marriage / family, but not for pleasure.
Orzhov - Medieval sex. With sex tax included.
Izzet - No time for it. Too focused on crazy experiments.
Golgari - Too dead for it
Boros - Not sure. Maybe something like roman army?
Simic - No sex; they're born in vats.
However, about romance, I think the more inclined to it are the selesnya and the grull, the former more "terrestrial", the later like animals battle for a partner.
In the end, I think most of the guilds don't care about sex. The ones that may really care are Orhzov (adressed in its religion), Azorius (but probably for legal reasons / majority), Dimir (as a way to get info) and Rakdos.
Hello! This was my prerelease pool. I had a bad time trying to make a deck from it and didnt went well at the tournment (0-3 before dropping :X All games lost).
So much bombs on green, a few on black... wasnt supposed to be and hard decision, but the low removal on my pool didnt made things better. So I've tried a route with enchantments and combat tricks. Didnt last long, as my opponent (using Esper) destroyed and/or wreak with my enchantment/creatures... No buff spell pass, i heard in my mind... witch takes us to the second brew:
This is my most controversiala build (I guess). Moving some magics away, traying to fight pesky removal... My opponent used WU against me, and his removal spells made my day worse. With about 20min remaining for the round (Yup! fast loss!), i've made a last trial...
This deck was a last try to grab those pesky flyers that won over my creatures. A bit more control, some flyers of myself, and the crazy Sea God’s Revenge. However, my opponent got better flyers and more permission cards than I could handle.
So, what do you think of my choices [and of the pool itself - I am disapointed with my luck :(] ? What kind of deck would you build?
Pretty sure that's what I'm looking for! Just not sure if it was on mtggoldfish...

not sure i got everything, but...
Point 2 seems to be the important to us. Point 1 to the new players, and point 3 to all that dont read UR...
Elder dragons. They just couldn't let this pass, right?
I mean, we know almost nothing about elder dragons and them BAM, 5 new ones. Hope they will care to explain
