Is Day's Undoing still worth running if Nek doesn't trigger when you cast it? Even with the flash Leyline, it doesn't seem worth it. I might upload my sorta budget list later to see where I can improve.
Found a nice card to play against removal and mainly burn! Sheltering Word
Hexproof and life. Better than 2 mana and just 5 life.
Feed the Clan can consistently be 10 life for two mana, and then it's nigh unbeatable. I cast 2 against a burn deck when they were tapped out, and they basically conceded.
Round 1: 2-0 vs Naya Burn
Game 1: I just win turn 4 easily enough.
-3 Dismember +3 Feed the Clan
Game 2: It turns out that gaining 20 life in a single turn is really good. I win with 19 life.
Round 2: 2-0 vs Scapeshift
Game 1: Turn 4 win, feeling good. Didn't see anything from his deck, so didn't bother sideboarding.
No Sideboarding
Game 2: He gets to seven lands by turn five and passes with Scapeshift in hand. After I draw he taps out for Vendilion Clique. I cast Aspect of Hydra for 4 in response on one of my only two creature, both Avatar of the Resolutes. He finds a hand of Dismember, Rancor, and Strangleroot Geist. He takes Rancor, I Dismember his creature, cast Geist and the Setessan Tactics I drew and win.
Round 4: 2-1 vs 4-Color Burn
Game 1: He gives me lands with Goblin Guide, and I just win.
-3 Dismember +3 Feed the Clan
Game 2: He manages to topdeck a bolt to scrape a win.
Game 3: I just destroy him with Leatherback Baloth
So all together everything went well, I just got a bad matchup and played badly in the third round. There was a lot more Tron than usual tonight, three decks in the room. Setessan Tactics performed very well, being an unfair board wipe in one of my various burn games. I think one is still the perfect number. I recall leaving Goblin Guides alive so I could then gain lands and win the game a couple times, since we don't hurt ourselves we should keep this in mind.
Well i just got stomped 0-2 by Amulet Bloom. My opponent just had one of those days with G1 turn-three kill G2 turn-two kill. Does anyone know anything to improve the matchup?
This is probably a bit of a moronic question, but why is 4x scooze main good now exactly?
Asking the right questions, but allow me to elaborate.
If one has a scooze on the board, then another won't help in any real way, because of the ability. I would rather see, well, any other card. We have plenty of hate against goyf in the form of Militant, and scooze is handy but 4x seems too much to me. Could somebody explain if it's not too much trouble? I personally will stick to 2x unless some sort of dredge deck becomes really popular.
The big problem with the wurm is the lifelink. If you dismember it and block/get blocked, you're just giving them card advantage. That plus its' tokens cause a giant headache.
This is the current deck that I run. I was looking for advice on upgrades for the deck. I am looking at subbing in Spreading Algae and maybe Groundbreaker for the haste effect. Any advice.
Looks like you marked down Strangleroot Geist twice, is that supposed to be something else? We don't dump cards in the graveyard fast enough for Become Immense, and I'm pretty sure Surgical Extraction doesn't totally belong in the 75. Groundbreaker, while fast, isn't terribly effective, and people can play around Spreading Algae. I would move the Dismember to mainboard, and put some Relic of Progenitus in the side. You probably also want to take out Defense for some Gut Shot.
I went to FNM going 1-3, will hopefully do the report later. But I saw at least half a dozen different burn decks, and lost to two of them. Any ideas as to how I should tweak my list?
Feed the Clan and maybe Spellskite are options to consider against Burn. Being a Burn player too, I know that these two cards can mess up my game plan. At some point, Kitchen Finks can also be relevant if you choose to run them (I don't).
My sideboarding plan currently is at the very least to switch my 3 Dismember mainboard out for some Prey Upon, but I'm not sure about the sideboard. Feed the Clan did win me a game when I cast 2 of them, but currently I can't afford Skites. I would usually gain 8 life thanks to Eidolon of the Great Revel. My normal sideboarding plan was -3 Dismember +2 Feed the Clan +1 Setessan Tactics, tactics going in because I need to have some removal. Maybe I should go mainboard -3 Dismember +3 Prey Upon and sideboard -1 Setessan Tactics +1 Feed the Clan.
