Feb 3, 2014ProficientNomad posted a message on Launch Giveaway! My favorite card will forever be Woolly Thoctar. The first competitive deck I ever played was Naya Midrange in Shards/Zendikar standard, and sticking one of those guys turn 3 was a very good sign for the game to come, plus in my opinion he's the best vanilla creature ever printed. Slap a Behemoth Sledge on him and it was hard to lose.Posted in: Announcements

Nice catch. No idea what I was thinking there. Speaking of that though, maybe we will see a feudal world. Who knows?
In most of my losses I lose to running out of gas, rather than hate or a good draw by my opponent. Should I be running the third Etched Champion in the Mainboard and then add the 4th to the side, or is that just the nature of the deck? Also, what are the side board choices that you think are speculative?
4 Ornithopter
4 Signal Pest
4 Vault Skirge
2 Etched Champion
3 Steel Overseer
2 Memnite
1 Spellskite
2 Master of Etherium
4 Springleaf Drum
4 Cranial Plating
3 Galvanic Blast
3 Thoughtcast
4 Blinkmoth Nexus
4 Inkmoth Nexus
4 Darksteel Citadel
3 Glimmervoid

1 Temur Battle-Rage
1 Illness in the Ranks

1 Dismember
Any suggestions? I really like the numbers of Thoughtcast and Galvanic Blast that I have, they tend to be really clutch, but I think I could knock off one or two.
Does the fact that it dodges Leyline actually matter? If they have Leyline I really doubt that having 1-4 2-mana 3 damage spells in the deck makes a difference.
Yeah I'm not sure how much I like all the conditional 2 mana counters. What would you suggest I take out?

-Mana Leak +Temple Bell

Blessing is pretty good against Abzan, it can help force a Cranial Plating'd Inkmoth through Lingering Souls Tokens, etc.
I've found that the extra life is usually irrelevant, and in any possible matchup where it is relevant you don't want the Gorge anyways because you never want to need it and have to play it tapped.
Your list seems very heavily skewed towards the higher CMC cards. I would cut 1 Glimmervoid, 1 Thoughtcast, 1 Etched Champion, and 1 Spellskite for 1 Vault Skirge, 1 Ornithopter, 1 Signal Pest, and 1 Mox Opal. Other than that I like the list. Welding Jar is really killer against BGx because it can blank their removal spell and at the worst means they have to 2 for 1 your threat so I think that that should stay.
Concerning GR Tron, the deck was very popular in my meta so I added 2 Negate to the sideboard and usually being able to counter Karn (in addition to having Ancient Grudge for Wurmcoil) makes the match up at the very least more tolerable.
What are you replacing with it?
This card probably would have been a house back when Cruise and Dig were legal, but I think that now that the two most powerful high cmc instant/sorcery spells are banned you have to go too far out of your way to make it worth it to cast Living Lore.
