What do you guys think about Nahiri, the Harbinger? Is right now a good time to buy? She doesn't seem standard driven so I don't think waiting for rotation would drop her price. I don't need her now, but having her would open me to UWR Nahiri and Kiki Chord.
Own everything in "T1", and a majority of what's in "T2", save Merfolk(sold), Bogles(sold), Elves, and Amulet Bloom. Also own a lot of the "Developing" decks.
The Defense Grid actually ended up being counter bait most of the time as no blue based deck ever wants to let it resolve, usually allowing me to drop my real threat right after, thinking back on it though I wish I had put it in during the burn matches in order to try and prevent Skullcrack and Atarka's Command during my turn. The Firespout was great against both the Collcted Anafenza and Collected Elves list allowing me to wipe the Anafenza's board after a pump from Gavony Township and allowing me to wipe the Elves board even after a double pump from 2x Elvish Archdruid. The only time it ever felt clunky was during the Affinity match up where although hitting both color requirements was doable, was much harder in order to get both the creatures on the ground and in the air. The most lackluster card in my board was definitely Rending Volley, Nature's Claim effectively did the same thing although not as safe, but I think I would've of preferred to have 2 Pyroclasm in my board instead for the affinity match up. The Boil and Life from the Loam ended up being the real winners in my board. Being able to cast Boil through Blood moon without needing the basic land for Choke was much better and straight up won me the game 2 in every Grixis match I played throughout both days. Life from the Loam helped me though multiple Ghost Quarter's and Tec Edge's throughout the night and won me the mirror.
Burn(1-2)
Collected Elves(2-1)
Little Kid Junk(2-0)
Burn(1-2)
Grixis Twin(2-0)
Grixis Delver(2-0)
Edge Rock(2-1)
Anafenza Company(2-0)
Gr Tron(2-1)
The hardest matchups for me(besides burn) were definetly the Edge Rock and Mirror. Luckily the last minute Life from the Loam in the board pulled me through both matches. The Grixis list tend to be easier than the traditional UR list at least as tron, mostly due to less counter magic and more dead cards. Going into day 2 tomorrow, hopefully I don't play burn, I don't think the 4x Nature's Claim and 3x Spellskite are enough.
Steel Overseer seems the most lack luster, he can take the game if they don't have an answer to him, but I'd say 70% of the time I don't ever get to tap him. I've been debating whether I should keep them in or replace them with 2 Spellskites mainboard and add something else to the sideboard. The Spellskites are slower, but I feel like I have them sided in more often than I don't. Also been debating on Ensoul Artifact. Ensoul Artifact has flat out won me games, but I keep it as a one of though mostly due to it being a 2 for 1 if they get rid of the creature.
So for a while I've been hearing wait until after GP Vegas to buy MM15 cards. When do y'all expect cards to "bottom out" or at least drop a decent ammount. Trying to grab a playset of Hierarch and Bitterblossom.
Anyone think it's interesting that Sensei's Top is banned because "matches were too long" while Legacy gets ***** done in a timely manner and top is played frequently?
Also, is Green Sun's Zenith actually that broken or OP when it's most OP or broken ability is essentially becoming a Llanowar Elf by searching for Dryad Arbor? Seriously? Sure it shuffles back in and tutors for other things but it would be a welcome replacement for Pod since it makes pod have to go Melira route.
GSZ was banned because any green deck had little reason not to run it, cutting down on diversity.
Green Sun's Zenith
On turn one, this can give the acceleration of a Llanowar Elves by getting a Dryad Arbor. On later turns, it can get a large creature or a one-of "toolbox" creature such as Gaddock Teeg. While this is interesting, it is also too efficient. If one intends to build a deck that has turn-one accelerants, Green Sun's Zenith is a great choice. If one wants to more access to utility green creatures, Green Sun's Zenith is a great choice. If one wants to more reliably get a large green creature, such as a Primeval Titan, onto the battlefield, Green Sun's Zenith is a great choice. However, this ends up with fewer different decks being played in practice, as Green Sun's Zenith is such a good choice that there are fewer green decks that do anything else. The DCI hopes that banning Green Sun's Zenith increases diversity among Modern green decks.
I would love to play grave titan and some bigger threads in an midrange-ish deck.
I own the BW-Midrange deck. (Confidants, Lilianas, discard spells). But I dont know. I guess BW tokes is better yet.
.. I have tasigur, siege rhinos, but no goyfs.
The deck went 4-0 during a Modern Daily twice within a week of each other. Looks like it plays the midrange with some ramp so it can drop Inferno and Grave Titan, while also being able to use Scapeshift to close the game. Unfortunetly it shares more of a Jund shell more than it does BW, so I'm not sure if it's out of question.
Probably because the Bant list that placed 1st in the standard open 3 days ago was running 4 of them md.
