The only reason to play telling time is to flip delver or setup terminus. The fact neither delver nor miracles play it should tell you something.

Remand, repeal, condescend, thirst and supreme will are the decks dig spells. I would play anticipate way before telling time in this deck, and id probably play squelch before anticipate.

The ub mythic isnt good enough even for tron where we might have eight mana to work with. For it to be good three mana gy exile would have to be playable with the casting stuff just a random late game upside. The going rate for exiling a gy is 0-1 mana so thats that.

What is the thinking behind contortions main instead of dismembers? I would think in the abstract you want dismember as it kills more things for less mana, but contortion could be some kind of meta call vs burn and little aggro decks?

A problem with forum like this is anybody new isn't going to read 732 pages of discussion to see what's already been said. Your link will soon be on an old page itself and that'll be the end of that l. Notwithstanding that I wouldn't point someone to a 2015 source for info on a deck anyways. The format is ridiculously different now and there's no way to know which advice in there has been rendered bad advice by format change

In most of those situations whatever happened to the first one is just as likely to happen to the second. Ooze, counter, etc. I dont find I actually win that many games via slaver anyways so the idea of needing a redundant copy seems bizarre. If there was a common one of that id say a second copy would be good more often than not itd be ugin. He cant be tutored by a mage or recurred by ruins, and sometimes you need to discard to thirst early on just to stay afloat - then later end up wishing you had one.

More often than not I find a straight ten mana slaver is a time warp and a two-for-one. Often its a ten mana time warp and nothing else. I think the best I did recently was make a guy flashback grudge on a clue token, cast nissa steward of elements for zero, ewit with no return and fetch fail to find. More often its like - cast a spell into my condescend for zero run a manland into my blocker and tap you out.

Its far more often on the low-middle end than the high; so not an effect im often wishing to execute as a one-shot

We've looked at grixis before for using aether grid instead of abrupt decay as a way to beat rip and stony. Some also looked at blood moon since we have opals and talismans.

That being said moving red from a splash to a turn one play is a big deal, and I'm not sure looting is worth the trouble when you could just play a mix of serums and brutalities for very similar outcomes. It's hard to move the deck to ur splash black because foundry needs black, unless you get a full blown three colour manabase where nothing is really a splash, but that's going to cost you life points and vulnerability to things like blood moon and field of ruin.

I definitely found aetherspouts too slow. I could see aetherize if you're playing talismans as t3 bounce board is fast enough to matter, t4 is on the bubble since they will replay everything (compared to verdict or damnation)

I think spatial and repeal are more versatile at getting youto the wurmcoil or ugin to turn the corner vs aggro overall.

Most talk of cutting Tez is moving him to the board because thoptersword alone wins most game ones. You bring him out of the board because he isn't affected by stony silence and postboard games are inevitably grinder as you face much more interaction.

It is extremely rare for tezz to win a game one that thoptersword would not have won anyways, while he can absolutely lose you game ones by rotting in your hand and/or making your bridge too slow.

I play two chalice in the main and love it. When they are bad you just toss them to thirst for knowledge. And they can make otherwise brutal matches like burn and bogles free wins. When they're mediocre they can still keep opponent from surgical, thoughtseize, path to exile etc. I recently managed to t4 Tron and chalice on 3 vs ponza after remand and condescend which is just hilarious too.

That being said I've yet to play burn. Post board you want chalice on two for revelry as well as charm and skullcrack, g1 I'm not sure if chalice on two is better than one vs burn.

I would note that chalice on one has the highly valuable impact of disabling path to exile. Vs some decks this turns wurmcoil and angels from liabilities into unbeatable win conditions. White decks generally have teferi and detention sphere to get rid of a chalice which are sorcery speed and easier to condescend or remand effectively than a one mana path.

I am a big fan of two chalice main for reasons like this. Even when it's not crippling the opponent completely it's usually doing some work. Drawing kcommamds off your threats, blocking paths, forcing them to tutor rec sage, etc.

I think with cavern the concept is getting remand and condescend active a turn sooner, as much as a fast chalice. I don't find turn two plays that backbreaking but it could be correct to maindeckable one and side it out on the play just for the chance to interact earlier

Warping manabase for one card does not seem like a winning move to me. I would be playing a second ugin over teferi if I wanted another walker too, no questions asked.

Or perhaps nissa steward of elements if I was trying to be cute (lack of a ug talisman hurts but just play simic signet instead). At least you could slam a huge nissa and swing for twenty in the air sometimes to win on the spot, otherwise scry two is pretty solid.

Again - I dont think another walker is needed and itd be ugin number two if it was... but for style points id be going for nissa I think.
