I really fail to see the point of the wooded foothills.
Offsets lifeloss due to Dismember. There's so many Forests, that there's no drawback to playing it unless you're playing Dungrove Elder. I wouldn't use it with Elder, though.

I am probably blind but how does Wooded Foothills offset any lifeloss? I don't see any lands that produce black... Confused

Same, I am just trying to figure out what makes people to want to jam it into Nekusar.

Anyone tried Damnable Pact? I keep getting suggested to use that card and I suppose it could kill one player pretty easily and it could be use for draw power but I don't know if its worth it.

guys, quick question coz' i just want to be absolutely sure about this..
islands and snow-covered islands are both basic lands right? but are they considered having the same name? for example, can i fetch an island, a snow-covered island and 2 other cards with gifts?

To answer your question, yes. Islands and Snow-Covered Islands are both basic lands and you can use gifts to search for a snow-covered island, a island, and two other cards because they have two different names and gifts only cares about the card's actual name. Teach

Well for the people I usually play with Tiny Leaders hasn't come up at all and EDH is the most play format which is great for me because I have no interest in that format.

Interesting, that is how I play him as well, now all I have to do is find a way to stick Teferi back in because as of right now he is in my "sideboard" for now.

Hai, everyone again its been a while since I last posted (since the 2nd or third page I think but I am always watching regardless). Anyways, Since then I have changed my build and added a ton of mana rocks like some others are doing on this forum and I am liking the configuration better.

As for the topic above my post, I run both Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora currently. Moving on, question to all you Nekusuar players, do you slam Nekusar down as soon as possible or do you wait until you setup your board/have counter backup before you drop him?

Yeah unless some fantastic new 1-drops appear any time soon, Experiment One and Dryad Militant are absolutely irreplaceable in my mind, no matter how many gatherer searches I do.

Anyone tried Kalonian Hydra? Avoids bolt and anger, has evasion and attacks as an 8/8 trampler. Not to mention is doubles the counters on ALL of our creatures when it attacks. I understand it is more of a mid-range card at 5CMC but man in any attrition battle it might be awesome as a SB option.

As stated before somewhere in this thread this deck cannot support five drops and even if you manged to play him he is not swinging until turn 6 the earliest and can still die to other popular removal in the format such as Path and Dismember before even getting a chance to swing. Also, I rather have Thrun as a main or sideboard option because he has hexproof and cost one less and is practically untouchable to all but Wrath of God and Damnation and both these cards don't see much play compared to other boardwipes such as Anger of the Gods and Supreme Verdict which Thrun can live through. Emrakul is bad, he does nothing for us that mindslaver doesn't do. He is a two card combo for 13 or a one card for 15. Slaver is two for 13 mana or one for 10. You lose more often with emrakul than with a slaver lock.

The second slaver is decent for incidental value and in case your first one gets exiled but two slavers isn't exactly a sacred number.

THIS DECKS ISSUE IS NOT FINDING WAYS TO WIN WHEN WE HAVE ACCESS TO 13 MANA, THE PROBLEM IS NOT DYING BEFORE THAT.

With the standard assortment of big stuff we have a card with text that says "win the game" for any board state that is likely to occur in the meta. Why play emrakul when mindslaver wins the same games in the same board states but also has more incidental value? I don't understand the fascination of playing every colorless spell in the format that costs more than six just because we can.

So sideboards are weird now. I feel like we have more slots than we do playable cards because we are moving cards like dismember and COTV from the board to the maindeck.
I wonder if surgical extraction has a place in the board with the added space. It seems very strong in the combo meta we see emerging and looks like it would fill the role of certain cards like jester's cap that are starting to see play better.

Technically its 12 mana + Ruins for Slaver since your activating ruins and not using it as a mana source but that's just me nitpicking. :p

Edit: But I do agree that the issue is not dying and that our wincons are fine. Smile

Why not play Fetchlands?? Only take 1 life and we gain tons of life, so ...
Sometimes i get flooded on lands, i think 4-6-8 fetchlands can be good idea

Because its been proven that fetch lands are not worth it for their thinning as it only bares significance past turn 10 which is certainly not worth the life loss even in Soul Sisters. Smile

Could be Hornet Sting a good replacement for Gut Shot?!??

Gut shot costs nothing while sting costs 1. Your better off using some other removal like Prey Upon because sting is simply not worth the mana.

Why not copy what Burn decks are doing, splashing blue just for TC and not adding other blue cards since they only want to replenish their hands? Smile

Because Burn decks and UR Delver can put plenty of cards in the graveyard in no time, we on the other hand have fewer cards hitting the grave. Not to mention that Scavenging Ooze and Dryad Militant already eat up our small graveyard. Smile

It's quite versatile. Things that I remember using it for are Pod, a surprise Spellskite (I sided it in for Pod that game too), Lilliana and Twin (you just name the dude they drop first). There may have been more, I don't remember. As I'm notoriously bad at sideboarding, I usually cut one each of E1, Militant and Tusker.

It would be cool if the primer linked the math to the 22 lands as I can't find it somehow. I only get screwed if I keep greedy one landers, pretty much, and 21's been working out quite well so far.

I found it Post #751 Grin

I think it should go into the primer now as a few people have asked about this already.
