    More like, Goblin Dank-Dwellers amirite?

With all the stuff they see inside their heads, they don't need eyes upon the outside world. "Screw your eyes, we got glass-grade dabs down here. Go Broncos."

On-topic, this card is an example of a bad version of a card still being an objectively good card. This will show up in Standard at least.

Am I the only one who thinks Nissa and Gideon are going to be the Wonder Twins of Standard? Nissa makes and buffs dudes. Gideon makes and buffs dudes and turns into a dude. Can't wait to brew some Oath Standard.

Anybody else seen this in their local Walgreens. I went in their today for lighters and saw they had them for 40% off with a rewards cards, so I picked up the last six on the shelf. This is in Oklahoma, by the way.

EDIT: Just saw there's another thread about this. Mods, feel free to merge.

I think it's funny comparing the responses at the start of this thread to the ones at the end of it. Namely that people thought Ugin couldn't hang in Modern and he'd be under 20 bucks. I say hang onto him. He doesn't go in everything, but when he does have a home, he does serious work. Also, massive casual appeal due to being a dragon planeswalker. Not saying he won't drop at rotation, but it won't be much, and he'll start climbing again eventually.

Isamaru, Hound of Konda was a thing back in Kamigawa, but that was a looooong time ago. Don't think things bode well for flip-Gideon, especially considering that the whole reason Human aggro was a thing was because Burning-Tree Emissary and Cavern of Souls were around.

The two new legendary creature generals are mythic. Cards which appear in only one deck (as well as applicable reprints) are rare. New uncommons show up in 3/5 decks. Commons are in every one.

How is that possible? There are a lot of colored commons, which can intrinsically only appear in max. 2 of the decks.
He's talking about new cards. Old ones keep their rarity.

Tie between Cryptic and Kolaghan's, with Atarka's coming in third and an honorable mention to Primal since my only paper deck is Tooth and Nail.

Cryptic is a busted card reined in by a strict color requirement. Kolaghan's is technically fair, but there's only one of its many modes that doesn't cause card advantage (discard+2 damage to the face) so it necks it with Cryptic at the top. Atarka's feels more like a charm than a command, but it does what it does well.

I agree with this mostly. I feel Cryptic edges out Kola because Cryptic is a win condition in itself in a lot cases. You may think that is an overstatement but there is some "gestalt" here which means there is an effect that is more than the sum of the individual parts. Taken on their own snapcaster and cryptic aren't win conditions but they do serve to create an environment from which you can win a game. To use a chess metaphor it's like controlling the center of the board after trading evenly.
Cryptic can't win the game on its own. If you're talking about Cryptic+Snappy, then it's technically Snappy that wins the game there. Maybe we're just going by different definitions though. I do concur that Cryptic has way more raw power, I just think Kolaghan's is in a better position in the meta right now because it's easier to cast and its more proactive, in a sense.

Keep that ***** or flip it. There's very little possibility you'll get it returned home, so why not profit off of it?

The right thing to do is to try to return it to it's owner. If it's never claimed, then it's fair enough to keep it, but you'd resent somebody if they found your fetchland and never tried to return it.
I'd resent myself and take it as a lesson to keep better track of my *****. If I lose a $70 dollar card in the middle of bum**** nowhere and don't realize it until its too late, that's on me. I'd rather get something for myself than try and do the "right thing" and possibly just end up handing it off to someone acting more unscrupulously. Have fun on your high horse though, and if you find any Scalding Tarns, they're mine.

So if you had 2 Drana's and 2 Gideon's, would you just sell them? I also have a foil void winnower. The card is not great, but it looks super cool as a foil. It really does. I also have an Ulamog as well. Got really good boxes.

If you don't have any use for them, yes. Only reason I'm not cashing in on my Gideons is I want them for a Modern brew.

Contagion Engine got hyped for the Commander spoiler that puts anthem counters on a player. It's pure EDH tech.

So wouldn't that make it a Commander Huge Gainer? Sorry, but I'm pretty sure a six-mana Electrickery isn't going to be making many waves in Modern.

  • posted a message on Will you play MtG if you can only obtain cards through boosters?
    Quote from investor3 »
This is how Magic is for me. Cards are only available in boosters. I don't pay other people to sort through packs for me and give me specific cards. You play with what you pull. If Wizards wanted it differently they'd have a singles store online.
Have fun at the kitchen table.

I wouldn't play if I couldn't buy or sell singles. For example, my Modern deck is Tooth and Nail. To facilitate this, I use 3 MM Tooth and Nails and 1 Mirrodin Tooth and Nail. Are you seriously telling me I'd have to buy 6+ boxes of Modern Masters and 3+ of Mirrodin? A premium set that's been out of print for over two years and a set from over ten years ago? Yeah, how about no? It's a COLLECTIBLE card game. Deal with it.

Modern events have a pretty big turnout here, so I'd say yes. It's my favorite format as well.
